  1. Flex --- I'm shootin' Zero 180's & 7625 in the 24, same bullet but 4756 in the 20, both at 171 PF. Since I took the file & solder gun to the 24's grip, it fits my hand far better than the 20; even with the slightly less aggressive grip reduction I gave to the 20. I did shoot an awfull lot of 40S&W (loaded long) through that 20, but the 24 feels totally different to me. Lots snappier and seems to have less muzzle flip. Putting on the EGW magwell gives support to my little finger & seems to help give me a more consistent grip as well as NPA. Gonna stick with this 24 until at least 6:00 p.m. on April 25th. You oughtta come on out & shoot our "Glocks Only" state championship match April 25th --- we need some ass kickers out this way! And bring the rest of the "Buckeye Bullies" with ya!
  2. It was great gettin' to meet Chet --- and watching videos of IPSC action in Texas while at lunch. Ol' Shred appears to be quite the "Hozin' Machine" judging from the match I saw him shooting! That's a Limited Glock, nuthin' special --- 24 top end, Vaneck trigger job, EGW magwell, Hi-Viz "Tactical Glock" front sight. Sorry that Chet couldn't have brought that sunshine & blue skies from Texas with him, we could have used it! I think the cold affected all of our scores! And parts of our brains too! Hope to see you again sometime Chet!
  3. Gotta agree with Shred, there are a number of field course-type classifiers that are rarely used. But rather than "pester" your MD to set 'em up, volunteer to do it yourself at the next match. Not only will the MD be grateful but so will all the other shooters who are tired of shooting the same dozen classifiers over & over again.
  4. Had to shoot this one again at the Utah section champs in September --- damn tough on a sluggardly 53 year old! Shot Open, stood up, 4.78 --- Oops, damn, gave the no-shoot on the middle target two perfect "eyes"! Hmmmmmm....looks like two misses on the middle target also --- oh well, it sure was fast!!!
  5. Chet --- you are in luck, there is a steel/fun match at the Nampa range (10 miles west of Boise) on 04 Jan. '04 and an IPSC match at the Emmett range (20 miles NW of Boise) on 12 Jan. '04. Both are held outdoors and shooting time starts at 10:00 a.m. SHARP! I am the MD at the Emmett club and we typically shoot five stages 100-120 rounds. Match fees are $7, first timers shoot for free. Classifiers always get sent in on time! If you make the steel match at Nampa, bring at least 150 rounds and match fees are $10 and I *think* first timers shoot free. Web sites are: www.GCRGC.org for the Emmett club and www.idahoshooters.com/ for Nampa. I am the section coordinator and my phone number is at the top of the Nampa web site, call me when you get here if you have any questions. Hope to see ya soon!
  6. Yepper, it's witchcraft for sure! What is really spooky is that he told me of a few more tricks to try that would lighten it even more! You know me, I gotta try it to see what I could be missin'!!!
  7. Got mine back from Charlie --- 22 ounces!! Absolutely, totally awesome trigger job. Can not recommend him highly, or often, enough. Thanks Charlie!
  8. Well, you know my motto: if it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!!
  9. Hey James, you talkin' about me? Yeah, I do shoot/beat the crap outta mine and I got to say the Johnny has taken VERY, VERY good care of me! PNMD, I wouldn't consider anyone else to build a gun for either me or my wife besides Johnny. If you send me your e-mail address I'll send you a couple of pix of my Limcat that I just got back from Johnny --- it is awesome!!! rocketman@rmci.net
  10. Steve --- just my experience but my first Aftec in my Limcat Open gun broke right in half. It was replaced by Brownells, but I certainly would hate to have it happen at a match! I also had one of the "arms" on the Aftec spring cap break off as well. I had to mail the broken one to Aftec & they replaced it free of charge. Long way of saying that I carry a complete spare Aftec with me at all times!
  11. 12 minute. Big, bold, beautiful!!!!
  12. DNuke --- JP made (still makes??) a brass magwell for large frame Glocks. In fact, I have a slightly used one setting in front of me as I type this. It weighs approximately three ounces. It retailed for $59.95, I'd be inclined to part with it for $30 shipped in the CONUS. If interested e-mail me at: rocketman@rmci.net Thanks,
  13. Hmmmmm ........ never heard that particular rumor. I don't know of anyone that got a shoot-through pass and most of the better shooters were seen with their proper squads throughout the day. Yeah, that Drew is one good shooter, not the fastest but exceptionally smooth! I got to see him shoot a couple of stages and recognized that he'd be hard to beat at this match. Taran was equally as tough and won at least three or four of the stages outright. The dude is fast! I was thinkin' about possibly shootin' Limited again; after watching Taran I just threw that brand new SV 40 Limited blaster and mags in the garbage can! I'm meltin' down the bullets & brass for it as well and will make some parts for my scooter with the scrap metal.
  14. I think Erik W. summed it up pretty good: the folks that shot all day Thursday got hosed! The weather wasn't the greatest the other two days, but I'd certainly like to shoot this match in 75 degree temps! Something about loosening-up these nearly 53 year old joints! The stages were all pretty straight forward without a lot of different ways to game them. Of course, with all the partials, no-shoots, and swingers, not worrying about the gaming aspect was a plus! Also, in spite of the inclement weather, the targets were not "bagged", which was the only bright side to the bad weather shooting we endured. Drew Dorsett, an *A* shooter (????????) won Open; Robbie was a no-show; and Taran Butler won Limited, besting Mike Voigt and Frank Garcia. I can't recall who won L-10, Production or Revolver. Two hundred forty eight people signed up to shoot this match; I'm not certain how many actually showed up to shoot on match day, nor how many gave up & didn't return after the first day of shooting. As for me, I finished sixth overall in Open at just barely under 94%. I had, for the match, five mikes, five misses, and one procedural. I know I had one stage win and probably two unless things changed after the posting period. I had some seriously smokin' runs, unfortunately they were puncuated with either a mike or a no-shoot!! All-in-all, it was a fun match. It was difficult to recognize anybody due to the amount of clothing we were all wearing to fend off the snow/rain/cold! It also dampened the socialality normally associated with these type of matches! See some of you at the Utah champs next month, Rocky Mtn. sectionals in August, or the Nationals in Bend in September! Rich
  15. Well hell, the ICFTPOHTTU* blaster is no longer top secret --- thanks Kyle! In fact, this beater has been replaced by a far more advanced pea shooter. Abandonment of this model was due to the propensity of cracked slides. The forward "pulling" effect of this comp was so dramatic that slides would crack from muzzle to breech face! I'll try to post a pix of the offending slide with this post, otherwise I'll send it to Flex for him to post. This thing veritably leapt from the holster & snapped on target so quickly that one would have to video tape the draw & presentation to target and play it in super slo-mo to even catch the smallest glimpse of draw-to-first-shot! Sights are unnecessary due to the refraction of target image through the dual purpose large port at the very front of the comp. The target image "floats" above the first horizontal port, kinda blurry, which makes calling shots marginally more difficult. The next generation pea-shooter enhances target image far better. Out for now, Oh yeah: * Inter-galactic Coalition For The Promotion of Handguns Throughout The Universe
  16. We're going to the 1st Annual "Glocks Only" Idaho State Championship March 23rd. Biggest & Best "Glocks Only" match held anywhere, and costs only TEN dollars for 8 stages, 173 rounds! And SEVEN dollars of each entry will be paid back to the shooters! Some of the smaller events we'll shoot will be Area1, Open Nationals, Northern Rockies Sectional, Utah State Champs, maybe a few more.
  17. HTR --- I lied, the bases were from Kimber, the package is only marked: Kimber Premium Gun Parts, K22/84M scope base set. I used Leupold rings. Sorry for the prevarication.
  18. HTRedneck --- I bought a 84M Varmint about two months ago in 22-250. It is a fantastic rifle for the money (under $900). Best groups to date have gone 3/10's, most loads I've tried will hit a least a half or less. It shoots so well that I sold my M70 Coyote. I use Leupold base & mounts for mine --- worked great!
  19. Check out http://www.randrracingonline.com. Great stuff!!! Great guys!!!
  20. JMaass --- not being a frequenter of pubs I'm not quite certain of my rejoinder. Help me out here. River? Well, the Snake is closest; the Lochsa & Clearwater are my favorites though. How's that??? ~8-`)
  21. Pat --- go to a carpet installers equipment & supply store, they carry a large number of differing knee pads. From minimalist to Robo-cop!
  22. Chris --- if he's like our county sheriff (and a good friend) it was either in his desk or rattlin' around somewhere inside his vehicle! Either place, it was someplace where he didn't have quick access to it! Vince --- I wasn't pickin' on cops, just used him as a general example of what I've heard from lots of gun owners --- gettin' your ego trampled ain't much fun. Good thing my memory is totally trashed or I wouldn't leave the house!
  23. Chris --- you hit it dude! Here's a true story: got stopped last Saturday evening on the way home from a USPSA match by an Idaho State Patrolman for speeding; after all the perfunctory BS about speed limits, safety, etc. we got to talking about guns & shooting. For over a half hour. I noiticed he was carrying a Glock 21; after he professed how much he loved shooting his Glock I invited him to participate in one of our USPSA matches. After he declined that offer I then told him about the "Glocks Only" Idaho state championship on March 23 that I am putting on. It was then that the real truth came out, he said" I'm not going out there and making a fool out of myself". This from a retired Marine and a current state trooper, subjected to untold hours of firearms training and weapons handling! Now this guy didn't hear about any "equipment race" or any other such foolishness; all he knew was that he feared embarassing himself in front of a bunch of people, mostly civilians, when called upon to demonstrate his prowess with his chosen firearm! No new division, no new class, no new category that USPSA can come up with will ever persuade this gentleman, and the millions of other firearm owners like him, to compete with us! I've said it for years: just because they own a gun does not mean they want to compete with it --- hoping new this or that will get them out competing with us is not likely. Oh yeah, I didn't get a ticket either; would've put me over my yearly quota! I am a big donor to the policemans ball though!!
  24. Jeffro --- I use an Aftec extractor for a 38 Super in my five inch STI limited gun that I shoot 9x19 ammo in --- the very same ammo that I use in my Glock 19. Also, the slide on my limited gun is an SV interchangeable breechface model with a 40 caliber breechface. I'm having a 38 Super barrel made for my Glock 20 (10mm.) that may or may not be able to use 9x19 in --- I'll post to the list when I get it. Right now, cycling by hand, a full mag of 9x19 through my Glock 20 (with 10mm barrel in place), the brass kinda dribbles out; using Super brass it flings it out pretty good. Won't know for sure 'til I get the new barrel as to how it will work.
  25. Guys --- I shoot 9x19 in a STI .38 Super five inch bull barrel, iron sights, Aftec extractor (Limited minor), the same gun/slide with a 5.5 inch barrel & triple chamber comp (steel/fun shoots) and in my Glock 19. I use brass interchangeably and load everything with Dillon .38 Super dies and a #5 (38 Super) shell plate on my Dillon 650. I only load for a 140 power factor but have experienced zero difficulties with this combination in the last four or five years.
