Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have had great luck with True Blue in my open 38 super. I will not be using VV any longer. I can feel my wallet getting heavier from the savings.
  2. Glock got in a little trouble with the ATF when there original 10 round mags would take 11 if you really worked at it. SO, Glock changed the mag a bit so now you have to stand on them to get the 10th round in. I know this from experience. They are real thumb breakers. This was the explaination I got from an ATF agent and Glock shooter I shoot with. Ktyler
  3. Has anyone heard when we are getting a new classifier book? I know anyone who has been shooting for the past.....5 years is getting tired of the same book being used. I was told we were to have a new one in Jan 2003. Well thats come and gone now were are into 2004. The book has been shot to death. (Not a bad idea, shot the classifier book) There is so much grand bagging or just a lot of repeats that 100% is becoming artifical. Yes I know big matches tell the real story but for those who can not make them, it is nice to compare yourselves to the great ones. I just hope the new book has some better course design along with some field type courses. K Tyler
  4. Being a Cop and a firearms instructor I get the opprotunity to meet many anti IPSC shooters. Like every time I go to a "tactical" class. I get bashed for the whole week, "IPSC isn't tactical....its a bunch of spray and pray shooters with no discipline....." etc Yet I have taken top shooter at every firearms class I've been to. I finally had enough at one of these classes and asked the NRA instructor over to my house for dinner. Once I got him all relaxed I asked him "Who said IPSC is tactical? We all claim it to be a high level firearm sport. I got the umm uumm, the gun handling is unsafe. I kept calm and asked if he has ever been to a match...you guessed it "no". I have been to 2 classed taught by the same NRA master instructor who also claims he passed the Chuck Taylor Combat Master course. 4 times he has challenged me to shoot against him. Twice with pistol and twice with rifle. All four had the same results....he lost. My parting comments were, "The most important skill in a gun fight is to get as many round on the threat in as short amount of time as possible", "You have the rest of your life to solve the problem, how long that time is...is up to you". 5. I have a Remington 1187 that is only really works well with heavy loads and won't cycle low recoil slug. If it is freshly clean it will cycle number 6 with 3 dram. Once it get about a box through it, it becomes unreliable. I have been told to open up the gas ports. Sounds good but how much do you open them up and can one do it at home.
  6. I have 2 Halfman opens guns. 1 is my wifes which is a beautiful weapon and it shoots well. The other is still unshot in the white but is fit really well. My only complaint with Josh is he is not timely and doesn't return phone calls promptly at all. He does some different grip textures that are really cool and aggressive.
  7. I have owned 3 Nowlin's. 2 were built for duty work and the other for IPSC. Great pistols and friendly people. I sold one because I up graded my gear to Throroughbred Custom (formally percision). I would shoot a TRP before you buy one. I didn't like the checkering and stay away from the full profile slide.... very heavy/lots of recipicating mass. Les builds good stuff but I would take a Thoroughbred over them all and a Nowlin Second. Check out Thoroughbred, they are priced about the same as Nowlin. Tell them Keith Tyler sent you.
  8. There is some good and some bad in this format. But I like it I agree with many of the other, the decision has been made. Live with it and support your sport. I hope to be there and as always "Shooting a single stack till its red hot". God I love this sport. KTyler
  9. Yes Jim, I have 3 malf's on stage 10. My mistake of not covering up my gun during the 3 hours of down time. It got way dirty and was not working well. Glad to see you did so well. Ktyler
  10. Ok Guys I just had to sound off on this. I have shot a single stack for all but about 3 months of my 10 years of USPSA. I made master with one and continue to win matchs inspite of my little 10 round gun. I loved it when we had Open and Limited only! But the stage design has changed since then. The stages today rarely have much room for reloading before an engagement area and are much higher in round count. If the stage designers are good and give at least 3 steps before any shooting can be done, its a pretty even playing field. As for the holster stuff, I recently went away from the race holsters and now use a Bladetech with my Thoroughbred Single stack. My draw times are .85 average and the security is MUCH better. The one big negative with 5 divisions is the cost to put on matches. Now with 5 divisions clubs have to buy 80+ trophes to cover everyone. Good lord lets just hand out trophes at the begining of the match with your shooters packet. I like it the way it is, but if it went back to Open and Limited.....it wouldn't hurt my feelings as long as the stage designs made the course of fire fair to all.
  11. Thanks TDean, by the way ....nice work at nationals. Would you please obey the speed limit and slow down so I can have a chance. K Tyler
  12. The match was 2 1/2 months ago. The winners were told very nice custom plaques with your name on them would be mailed out. Has anyone got theres yet?? Did they run into a problem? How do I contact the match director? KT
  13. I need some advise. I am concidering selling my pre ban colt AR to pay for a JP AR. I plan on shooting iron sights until I can no longer see. My colt is a 20 inch sporter II. I shoots ok, but I need to put some money into it to get it up to speed. Any comments are welcomed. K Tyler
  14. Until recently I carried a 1911 for duty. (New chief veto'ed the 1911) I used 8 round Wilsons for years and had great luck. The FBI guys I train with all bought Wilson's and trashed the SA mags that came with the gun. Hope this helps K tyler
  15. I have been using Armscor 124's in my super all year. They are just as accurate as the Zeros I was using and about 40-50 fps faster with the same load. Several of the open shooters at our club have been using them for years and have had no problems. Are they Montana Gold? No, but about 1/3 or more less in price.
