  1. NIce!! Thank you! I'm thinking about sending mine in so I wanted to see what the finished product looked like. Rich
  2. Pretty sweet lookin' Justin! You gonna stop there or do you have something else in the works? See ya!
  3. Quick point: USPSA allowed 9mm major back in the early 90's but the overall loaded length had to be a minimum 1.250. So you were stuck shooting bullet weights around 160 grs. Paul Miller out of Montrose, Colorado shot it that way and did very, very well with it. Oops, forgot to add, there were no divisions then, run what ya brung!
  4. Cullen for the win!! When I had my steel gripped SV and wanted to add their competition aluminum magwell the SV machinist actually called me and had me measure several places on the bottom of the grip. The magwell fit exact so I'm guessin' the magwell off my gun may, or may not, fit on your SV steel grip. Unlike any of the plastic grip magwells made en masse.
  5. None of my STI mags would fit in my SV steel grip. They would only insert about 3/5ths of the way into the grip before becoming stuck. Had nothing to do with the mag release. All of my SV mags - new and old - worked flawlessly!
  6. This will cure what ails your pistol: From Clymertool.com: Sometimes called “freebore reamers”, throaters are used to extend the throat of a chamber in order to give more clearance around the bullet. Some gunsmiths will also order chambering reamers without a throat section and will then use a separate throater to cut the throat of the chamber to match a specific bullet. Clymer standard throaters are generally .002 larger than actual bullet diameter, with a 21/2° throat angle.
  7. Ya know, another thing is that the mag has to be straight going into the pistol. Being off just a little would stick the mag making it necessary to pull it out & re-seat. Happened to me a couple o' times on unloaded starts with mag & pistol on a barrel or table. Rarely happened if I could pull the mag from a pouch though. Probably could all be trained out through dry fire but I barely have time enough to shoot/put on matches, so I'll stick with plastic.
  8. I completely agree with Eric - just could not get used to the steel grip. Everything felt perfect until I shot it. Now it could be that I've shot plastic grips for twenty years and that could color my perceptions. All I know is I won't buy another steel grip!
  9. Good to see ya only havin' to rack the slide once, at make ready!
  10. Aaack - forgive me BigBets - I'm old and feeble brained! It is definitely a shooter so thanks again!!!
  11. I don't use Titegroup nor shoot a 35 but if it were me I'd shorten up a few of your loads to the longest length that will still feed out of your Glock mags and go test fire 'em. Velocity & pressure will be higher but I can't imagine that they be unsafe to shoot. Also, check out a reloading source to see what the max load is for a 180 seated at standard 40 length - usually 1.135 - over your load of Titegroup. That outta give ya someplace to start.
  12. S&Wwheelnut on this forum. Go to the gallery & look at "my new 6 inch"
  13. For jcarpenter82: there are 20 rounds on this target shot at 17 yards offhand. Five each of 200gr MG & 200gr Prec. Delta with 4.1 grs. E3, WWSP, OAL 1.180; five each of 180gr. Prec. Delta with 4.5grs E3, WWSP, OAL 1.180, and five each of 180gr Bear Creek moly'd 4.0grs. Clays, WWSP, OAL 1.180. Power factor varied from 171-178. I had to shoot the steel target cuz the wind was blowing a fair amount! Ripp - no Nats for me this year, buried with work!
  14. Well, I think it's high time you plan a trip to Yellowstone Park and then come shoot a match with us! I run our club, www.codyactionshooters.com and we have some pretty awesome stages!
  15. Hey Ripp -- I like the Extreme fire control parts and only use that on my actual competition pistols. I also use EGW & SV fire control parts on occasion but that's it. The Extreme hammer is exactly as it came from Rene at SSI. My trigger breaks at just under 2 lbs on my RCBS scale. That's as low as I go on my Limited pistols but using the same fire control parts on my Open pistols - last shot in '07 - I could go to 24 ounces pull weight. The thumb safeties I stole off my JV Dynamics five incher. I LOVE those thumb safeties, as do you with JoJo's brothers safety. It is in the white with just a bead-blasting. I like the way it looks and think I'll just leave it that way. Maybe we'll meet up someday at a match and be able to compare pistols! Those Grams pads I bought from ya are still going strong!
  16. New pics up, it is a finished product now!
  17. Hey Ripp -- I got the inspiration from your build - thanks!!!
  18. Aaaaack....a shit storm! Guys, the 'smith that built it only had the frame/slide/barrel and never fired it. He told me about the slide overhanging the frame and suggested shooting 400-500 rounds through it then bring it back and he'd take care of any issues. After I slammed it together I snapped a couple o' pics without thinking about the slide issue and posted 'em. It has been below zero here and I've had no chance to shoot it. Seein' as how it's supposed to hit 30 tomorrow I'll blast a bunch o' rounds through it and see what happens. MWX40x40 - it's a Shooters Design magwell. Thanks!
