  1. I haven't ever melted one. .45, 9mm, .40. And I shoot when it is 118 in the summer. The brass sucks to pick up but I have never seen a melted fiber. I am sure it can be done but you would need to work at it.
  2. The U die and a factory crimp die work wonders
  3. Bummer. Extractor would be easier. What OAL? What crimp? Can you mark up a round with Sharpie and see what dimension has the issue?
  4. Is it the chamber or the extractor? Will they drop into the barrel out of the gun?
  5. Count through the walk-through. During the run, I count misses. If I know I need them all, as soon as I have an extra shot I can expect the reload.
  6. Sorry, shots. 8 round arrays or 10 round mag capacity. I usually shoot SS and have a major and a minor gun so I always have a count going with walk throughs.
  7. It is 100% visualization. You can do it without a gun. Count in your head until you get to 8 or 10. Stage plan.
  8. I think there isn't a right answer. Like aiming, the circumstance will dictate. Moving on the 180 right to left (righty). Short movements. Long movements. Retreat. Around corners. You have to know what to do in each circumstance. To make my point, go to youtube and look up single stack nationals videos. Stick with the guys who can win. Robbie, Nils, Dave, etc. See how different each reload is. Some are done in a step. Others as they enter the next position. The important thing is to get moving. The reload will be there.
  9. Welcome to the game. As stated above, you will need to see different things depending on how hard the shot is. Not many shortcuts. You will need to practice different distances on the clock to see how much you nee to see and how long that takes. Your eyes seeing what they need to see at every distance should drive your pace. You should be able to shoot 90-95% of the available points so use that as your goal.
  10. That should be covered. It is always the customer's problem....
  11. 4.4 Titegroup with 147 sounds like a full grain too heavy. Are you sure it isn't 3.4?
  12. I agree with the posts above. Pick a spot and when the D zone hits your sight, pull the trigger. I would caution on the extra shot though. If this is the habit, you will pay less attention and still have mikes. You can still call the shots this way so just pay the insurance when you think you need it.
  13. Nobody thinks bad of the Single Stack shooters. Everyone has at least one 1911. They just go back to their normal division after suffering through the one SS match they shoot in per year. Shooting SS is too much like work for them. And Revo, well, those guys have issues
  14. That is because 9 minor has a capacity advantage and .40 and .45 have points. Reload strategy makes 9 make sense sometimes but not usually. With revo, and 8 round neutral arrays, 6 shot just plain loses But then again....IDPA....ewwww
  15. I have CR Speed for SS and for LTD. Kept it simple for my simple brain. Blade Tech holster for both too.
  16. Fair enough. But when there is, these will not be the results. Look at 2016 open nationals. Stage 6 was a one shot quick draw stage. 1 second or better was 14th place or better. Nick Saiti won it with a .75. Only one person below .8. Just an observation. Winning run https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWV15e0Bbs4&sns=em https://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?indx=18846&division=Open&stage=6&guntype=Pistol
  17. This bell curve is hillarious. Next time you are running the clock at a match watch the first shot times. Will not look anything like this.
  18. Aside from the gun tweaking, you can probably get it to run with Federal primers. They are generally the easiest to ignite. Popular with revo guys or striker guns with lightened triggers.
  19. Newbie? How many years do I need to be here? Quite the ego on Susie Soccer Trophy. Perhaps I busy myself shooting vs 18000 posts? Go practice and the class thing won't bother you as much.
  20. Not what he suggested. Only that priority should be granted to those who earned the slot in a championship
  21. Susie soccer trophy asking if someone else needs a binky, awesome. As for me being a cheerleader, I am not the one suggesting everyone should get to shoot in a national championship. Now do those skirts come in your size Susie?
  22. This makes too much sense for the soccer trophy crowd. Everyone should get to be a champion. Or at least tell their non-shooting friend they are shooting in the National Championship.
  23. Honestly, with the 10 round limit, speed will be a wash between production and SS minor (both 10 rounds). But I also appreciate the cool factor of a true LTD gun. No matter what you will have fun. Careful your fiance doesn't start beating you though!
  24. Staff always gets to shoot. And usually on another day so they don't really count in the capacity anyway. But you are right, you could never staff a match with limits like that.
  25. Welcome! I can understand the state-based pain but is there a reason you are drawn to L10? The guns can tend to be more specialized (look up 2011s if you haven't already). The set up costs for great gear can be high if you are just starting and may change your mind on division soon. Production is a great place to start with your state restrictions or even single stack. No matter the first division, others will follow. Enter the bottomless money pit
