  1. Thanks Randy! After the World Shoot I'll see what I can do to get a gun over there. I hope it's not a problem to ship one from over here (seems like my government doesn't like us shipping guns out of the country, but back in is no problem). I always wanted a revolver with a nice 5lbs. trigger and have it Titanium Nitrated, so it would last forever
  2. Gosh Rob, I would think wearing a ball lock on your yoke would be even more painful than getting a hole in the palm.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  3. Lawman, do not forget that they're also going to discuss the allowance of the Tanfoglio you mentioned (and some other guns such as the CZ SP01) Basically, this GA will decide if PD will have box-stock-duty-guns only, or allow "custom" guns (built exactly to IPSC PD norm) and tinkering. But I share your opinion. Grip tape and aftermarket sights will allow any gun with a reasonable capacity to be competitive.
  4. While we're drifting... Randy, a firend of mine has visited the US and handled one of the guns you did the trigger work on. He was to say the least, very very impressed. How long will the trigger stay that way with daily dry fire? We're talking about a standard 625-3 here.
  5. I think a capacity limit would be the best solution for the "problem". Personally I would go for 15+1, but this still rules out a lot of .40's based on their 15+1 9mm counterparts. So maybe 10+1 is the way to go. The big advantage of going 10+1 is that a couple of IPSC countires (Australia, Canada) and some US States can finally play in a real IPSC division without a handicap.
  6. Didn't Dave Sevigny use a KyTac to win the last World Shoot? Very interedting thread. Can we get some numbers from the guys who use both?
  7. Ah yes, I totally agree. The IPSC PD guns got to have high (17+1+) capacity to be "competitive". This rules out all kinds of cool 9mm pistols. There has been discussion about just limiting the capacity (something which I am for), but apparantly, many people are against this. And it also brings practical problems if you limit the capacity to say, 15+1.
  8. Slight thread drift, but what is the "lowest" kydex holster on the market? Are there any that have a height adjustment? Thanks.
  9. I like the analogy of the receiver focussing on scoring before he catches the ball. That is exactly what I meant Of course, you need to hav 100% confidence in your gear. I would personally zero in at the distance most targets are at (a nice medium distance of 15-18 yards). I'd say that it's better to just put the dot where you want the hole 80% of the times and holding high/low 20% of the times than the other way around. There are quite a lot of threads on this subject here.
  10. Jim, I see what you mean. Unfortunately the PF vs. capacity issue is not as balanced as it should be. As a matter of fact, I think it is already sorted out which is better. Just look at IPSC Standard. The guns have a little more capacity than IPSC production (but not as much as USPSA's Limited). But nobody shoots minor Standard (even though you could shoot 22+1 instead of 18+1). The advantage of shooting major is much bigger than having to do 4 extra reloads in a match. So, yes IPSC production is a 9mm division right now. Until you recognize major. Bjorn
  11. Sounds like you are not staying with the dot until you have actually finished the shot. When you want to leave for the next position right after seeing the dot lift, it is so easy to move just a millisecond to soon and cause a bad aim right at moment the shot actually goes off. This happens when you subconsciously accept the mistake of confusing 'having a good sight picture' with 'calling the shot' (following through). I think the root of all this is wanting to leave fast. This results in wanting the shot to go off sooner and already focussing on leaving. One will turn this 'wanting' into making the shot go off. But then, it might just be that you need to adjust the dot
  12. The same thing as in Standard. Almost everyone would start shooting major.
  13. I remember Eric Grauffel saying: "2 months before a big match, don't touch any other gun than the one you'll compete with". And he is a damn fine Standard AND Open shooter.
  14. Hehe, I like that James. Same here man. Never faster than .20 in matches.
  15. I think it's a very valid point. I believe the unfluted cylinder will also put more stress on the cylinder stop with dry fire. 625 in 5" is a safe choice. Can't go wrong with what Jerry M. shoots I'd say
  16. HA! I'll cheer you all up. We pay about $5 a gallon here. On top of that comes the road tax of course, which is about $50 a month.

    610/646

I would also keep the 610 in that config. You can use that gun for everything (except IDPA;))! I'd love to own one of those.
  18. Thanks for the info Hop! Seems like I need to get myself a couple of these Hearthco clips.
  19. I've seenand tried both Eric's TruGrip and SVI Scott. The TruGrip was on a Glock though, and the SVI Scott on, well....an SVI I would never go for Scott grip. The ones I handled started losing grit while handling them I would say, if you have an SVI/STI/SPS, smooth the grip (fill up the checkering with epoxy or grind it down to a smooth grip) and get some TruGrip. It will take a little work to get the grip smooth for the TruGrip to adhese, but it's way better than buying an expensive grip and having to throw it away after all the grit is gone
  20. Happy Birthday all yall. Cliff, see you in Ecuador!
