  1. The "clip" word is one of my top two gun-related pet peeves (the other one is "automatic" when referring to semi-auto). Jeez.
  2. I keep thinking that the gold and such that we may have on hand will not be worth much if the s**t hits the fan. When that happens, the valuable stuff will be food, water, antibiotics, shelter, cars, gasoline, guns, and AMMO. The gold itself might end up being just lumps of metal--unless someone continues to give it transactional value.
  3. I ran my own business for about 14-15 years and, for the most part, was paid on time or--in the terms of many of my projects--paid upon delivery of the product. But there are always a handful of losers out there who don't honor either express or implied contracts, and doing business is, yes, expensive, with lots of overhead and costs just to keep one's doors open. I, too, feel your pain as it applies to deadbeats. Ya gotta wonder what in hell they're thinking when they choose to NOT pay their bills!! It's essentially a breach of contract.

    Do the math...

No math needed. Just common gun sense.
  5. The day I ate a fortune cookie--fortune and all. I was hungry. I was 12 years old. We all had an uproarious laff over it when it came time to read my fortune out loud. I simply said, "Oh my God, I ate it!!" It was genuinely funny and I was embarrassed only for about two seconds. But I remember it like it was yesterday. I think kevin c wins the prize for this thread, however.
  6. I fell for it but was not injured!! LOL! Just sorry I didn't think of something as clever! My boss's wedding anniversary is April 1. He took the day off.
  7. Super Bowl is the culminating event of the who-can-be-injured-the-most football season.
  8. People hanging about waiting to enter trial courtrooms are worth watching, too.

    Snow

We mainly have snow in the Cascade Mountain Range, and this year we've had the pleasure of a snow pack that has exceeded normal. And after SEVERAL years of freaky, scary, drought, our water supply for 2016 is now assured. We're also having local rain in excess of seasonal normal as well, which assures a decent water table, good leafing for all the local shrubs, trees, and grasses (and therefore a natural fire retardant). It's been a very skimpy series of water years, and the natives were getting restless. But I can do without local snow. We're just not set up for it and it's way too dangerous.
  10. Actually, it's just another excuse to have a party.
  11. Maybe after viewing the Aussie's long-lived destructo video, Whirlpool might not be a bad choice after all.
  12. They say laughter is great for arthritis pain. Well, after two runs thru Aussie50's Whirlpool back yard carnage machine, I find myself pain-free!!!!! (And my face is cramped up from laughing.) Reminds me of some early-on Saturday nights (and Friday nights) on this very forum.
  13. The owner of our local indoor range (The Baron's Den), Walt Umenhofer, passed away January 11, 2016. He and his wonderful wife not only ran a top-notch, fun place to shoot (as well as a classy retail shop), but brought a lot of dignity to the shooting sport and treated women with incredible respect. It was the place where I won my trophies, took my two CHL prep classes, and made incredible friends (and bought guns!). I don't see any change in the running of the range (I doubt it will ever close), as Mrs. Gayle Umenhofer was a key part of the total operation, but Walt spent a lot of time with us several times a week, and was the source of both wisdom and entertainment. I'll never forget what he said to me when I took my first CHL class and purchased a range membership: "I think you'll like it here!" He could not have been more correct or spot-on. Bless his heart.
  14. Thank you!! I was one of the lucky ones who got involved in this forum in its early days. It's certainly come a long way, and has evolved into something bigger and different, but it's still probably the most polite and professional shooting forum online today, managed by dedicated people. Still fun to be here.
  15. I nearly croaked on the spot when I saw that Vikings field goal go wide!!!! They really should've (and deserved to have) won that game! I can only hope the Hawks get de-feathered by a certain Panther. I do NOT want to see another Seahawk Super Bowl. Ever.
  16. Then there are the drivers who signal to go one direction then promptly go the opposite direction! That happened to me twice in one day some time ago and I've been ultra-careful ever since!
  17. Seventy pounds!! Holy crap!! That's awesome--totally!! Good job.
  18. Wow, I'm late to my own party!!! Scandalous!! Got busy, the weather was bad, and things needed doing. But here I am, and thank you all for the well-wishes. It's been a great season already in many ways, and I'm grateful for all of it. May you all have perfect targets!
  19. Hmm . . . woke up to strangely cold temps and about a half-inch of snow. Crap. Not destined to last, though. Looks like a significant warm-up coming starting tomorrow. Rain later today should melt the snow.
