    Which one?

    Trek. Mac or PC . . .?
  2. Not to mention the prices at national chains that serve specialized burgers and such. That'll be the day I spend over $10 for a burger!! (But I've had to a time or two.) Plus a possible tip. It's all just gone way over the cliff . . .
  3. It also surprises the heck out of me that people who commit integrity-losing crimes don't seem to mind the inevitability of spending very long periods of time in a prison cell. Do they LIKE it in there?? Do they even-for-a-moment think of "jail" before they do the reprehensible things they do? Jeez.
  4. . . . assuming I could've AFFORDED the Wall Street Journal to begin with . . .
  5. Petrol prices here have not changed much at all. In fact they lowered considerably a few weeks ago, then rose slightly recently. But not above the notorious high prices of a year or two ago when it reached $4.60/gallon. I've seen a mild creep on SOME food items but not all, by any means. I have two nearby places I shop for groceries that have notoriously low prices and excellent products. I'm better off than SOME people, based on my knowledge about WHERE to shop and precisely what to look for.
  6. I haven't bought a Wall Street Journal for some time--and even then I noticed a slight rise in price--but I bought one today (and it obviously wasn't even the Sunday edition!) and it cost $3!!!!! Three dollars!! WTF?? And one thing I found revolting a few years back was its switch to color (boo, hiss!!) and a format/style change that reeked of USA Today. Yes, I'm old-school about how I'd like the WSJ to look, but the price!!! I'm not even going to ask Barnes & Noble what the Sunday edition costs!!
  7. I actually used to carry a folder in my handbag ALL the time until I started "working" at the Jail and occasionally attending meetings at both the county courthouse and the federal courthouse. All three venues tend to frown on "weapons" inside their places. I have a number of folders, though, so have decided to put one permanently in the vehicle glovebox as a backup tool which might accomplish the same purpose. Certainly better than NO knife when I'm out and about.
  8. The English language must drive foreigners nuts.

You should see Eugene in the month of May . . .
  10. Lightning does NOT have an "e" in it, folks. "Lightening" is technically what ladies do to their hair to become blond (or become a blonde).
  11. Lightning is not only "damn' dangerous," it's also sneaky.
  12. Jadeslade, there is SOOOOO much truly good coffee out there, I can't recommend it highly enough that you try some decent blends in a decent coffeemaker. "Office" coffee (and similar places) is just not right, unless you live in Eugene, Oregon, where most employers actually brew gourmet coffee pretty much exclusively. It's perhaps a way of (1) securing employee retention, or (2) to keep employees wired enough all day to significantly increase so-called productivity.
  13. One thing I NEVER do is use paper filters. I may not subscribe to the above "science experiment" method, but I love good coffee and filtering it with chemical-soaked, full-of-bleach-and-other-poisons paper filters is bad news. Paper filters also leach out all the essential oils in your coffee--the very essence of where the full range of flavor comes from. I suggest using a metal filter. I do.
  14. Lightning is damn' dangerous and that's a fact. Sorry to hear you took such a drastic hit.

    Which one?

They're. For personal protection: Sig Sauer or Smith & Wesson . . .?

    Which one?

Yes. Something like that. (Actually I like them both.) 1911!!!!!!!!! Gah! To put "1911" and "glock" in the same sentence is downright blasphemous to the 1911!!!

    Which one?

You can't post without making a choice!!
  19. I have a cousin who lives east of L.A. (far enough east to be in a desert climate) and she, too, reported light rain there today.

    Which one?

(Definitely Batman . . .) Can't stand James Bond. Have to be Man from U.N.C.L.E. Adrian Paul or Vin Diesel?
