  1. Reminds me of the divots in my ceiling due to "launching" a spring/bushing while cleaning a 1911 . . . then trying to dig it out from behind the couch . . . (if that's actually where it went. One of them went literally down the hall and into the spare bedroom on one frustrating occasion. Now THAT was a long search . . .)

    Fun with guns

    Holy Crap . . . and I thought drones were hi-tech . . .
  3. Well, it's been a long time since I posted here about certifications, but in the meantime I found work (in 2015) and I just passed my THIRD (at last) level of certification, the "PP" (Professional Paralegal). I'm about as far from a "professional paralegal" as you can get, of course, but for sure I'm a legal assistant and make my living that way. (Oh, and they changed the "PLS" (Professional Legal Secretary) to "CLP" (Certified Legal Professional). --Ms. Siggy, PP, CLP, ALP
  4. What an utterly FABULOUS photo!! Very lovely girl. A little scholar already--exhausted from doing library research, I see. But she'll always get her glasses from YOU, I know.
  5. That is so awesome. Changing and improving the lives of others is incredibly satisfying on so many levels. I see that in my work when a client--after a year of struggle and self-improvement--takes the time to thank us for OUR help with their lives. Thank you, Sarge, for YOUR contribution to the lives of others.
  6. There's nothing like good glass to make photography miraculously satisfying. I remember when I picked up two nice quality lenses for my older Minolta X-700, the difference was amazing. Things have since gone way digital and THAT was a quantum leap for me and my sense of "miraculously satisfying." But I saw to it I bought good glass for the digital unit, too, and that made a difference. Congratulations.

Thanks, everyone, for the wishes. [We used to have rather wild SiG Lady birthday "parties" here on the Forum back in the day]. It actually WAS a good birthday that week. We had some nasty weather (not unlike what Arrowhead Stadium went through yesterday) during that time, yet the boss not only treated me to lunch, but drove me to-and-from work for three days in his brand-new Ford F-150 through the worst of the ice-n-snow. We made the very best of it and still got our work done.
  8. Ouch, it hurts just to look at them! But they're an interesting, fashionable color . . .

Wow, I haven't received flowers for my birthday since I-don't-know-when. Thank you, guys. Very much.
  10. The SDB would be appropriate for a coffee table in a small apartment setting. And, of course, the proper coffee table books would be reloading manuals.
  11. We arranged for a new kitchen service group at the county jail recently, and yesterday--for those of us working that day--we were treated to a full turkey dinner buffet in our lunchroom! I often work there on holidays, but we've never quite had THAT kind of treatment on those days. It was terrific and really made my day. I think I'll show up on Christmas Day this year and see what happens.
  12. Well, it's back to being truly 'The Great Northwet' here. Rain and chill. Not wanting to get out of bed in the morning. Not wanting to climb into a cold car and drive to work in the morning. That kind of thing. Brrr.
  13. "It is always NOW." [perhaps this should be posted in the Zen thread . . . ]
  14. I'm speechless. (and for me that's unusual.)
  15. So, three-deep HDDs could, in a pinch, act as body armor . . . maybe . . .
  16. The inside of my safe smells like leather holsters and mag pouches. Always rather liked that.
  17. Hubsan X4 H107C No, no matches. This will be just something to fly around the hallways at the office and maybe a little outdoor stuff after winter's over. It's small enough that indoor zooming would be appropriate. We have a hallway at work that is open to the third floor (we're on the second floor), so there is room for elevating to the upstairs.
  18. My Inner Child got all excited and bought a small drone a couple of weeks ago. Now I just need to find the time to have someone assist with a missing tool in the kit and to help calibrate the thing. I'm really pretty busy most of the time. My God, it's even got a camera and colored lights! And it was uber affordable. My Inner Child gets this way sometimes.

    Other Loves?

Getting too disabled to do athletics any more, I expanded my legal office tendencies (I'm a legal assistant) to membership in a national legal assistants association, became a local board of directors member, and a national editorial board member of the association. I proofread our national publications prior to release, and write articles on legal things for one of them. Locally, I arrange for legal speakers (attorneys and the like) once a month for our local chapter members and guests. These occasions provide CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credit for attendees who have certifications (like myself) and need to support the certification with CLE credit ongoing. I also petitioned the state of Oregon's bar association over the past year to change their CLE Rules at the state level to allow our guest speakers to collect CLE credit for teaching to non-lawyers. Almost no states in the U.S. allows this--and neither did Oregon until now. (But Idaho does, that I know of.) Lawyers need to collect a certain amount of CLE credit each year, too, to support their status, just as certified assistants do. But with persistent and persuasive work, I can now bestow CLE credit to my guest speakers. So instead of lifting weights or running marathons, I chose to make a difference by journalizing educational material and "making a difference" at my keyboard at the legal/political level for the benefit of both lawyers and assistants alike in Oregon. What started as a simple pastime, turned into a major deal. And is sure has been fun.
  20. Wow, the "truly handsome little dude" certainly got big in a hurry! Which they seem to do.
  21. More photos, pleez!!
  22. Actually, he's supine. But a VERY handsome little grey ghost. Already into message shirts, too!
  23. Well, it was a clumsy win, but we won.
