  1. I have never had to pull any bullets, .418 is what Benny Hill recommended to me long ago and that is just what I have went with. It might be a bit more than needed, but I like a good, solid crimp. With .418 I have never seen ANY signs of pressure or drop in accuracy. I think factory is somewhere around .418-.421
  2. I use .418 exclusively and it works fine.
  3. Looking on STI's website, I noticed they are soon to be offering a new open gun called the "Stinger" 3.9 inch barrel and comp etc. Anyone have the inside scoop on this on?
  4. I've been down that road and will never do it again. For the price you'll pay getting everything together for a new top-end, you can get a brand new pistol.
  5. Eliminate revolver division and add them to production just to accomidate a few people with 8 rounders? that's just stupid and will never happen. If people want to shoot production with an 8 shot, that's great, they can do it but, most (if not all) of us who shoot 6 shooters DO NOT want to shoot production. That is why we have revolver division. I'm really tired of people who want to get rid of revolver class, it has been argued over and over and over again with the SAME comments every time, lets just put it to bed.
  6. "Why can't we all just get along" Rodney King after the LA verdicts that started the riots.
  7. Why would you want to take a sight picture? I've been shooting IDPA over 3 years, twice a month and have never seen any "real" need to take a sight picture. The stages are generally so simple that it's just not required.
  8. I usta really love NASCAR in the old days when Bobby Allison, Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliot were kings, but anymore, it's boring. It's now infested with bitching little crybabies who are racing using Daddy's money. Nowadays I only watch the World of Outlaws, now that's racing, real men race on dirt.
  9. I really like Titegroup, it's soft shooting, accurate and fairly clean. I've just read several people saying it's the only powder they'll use. Titegroup is far, far, far superior to AA#2, but I thought I'd at least try it. I have no plans of using AA#2 ever again, at least for Ltd.
  10. A girlfriend keeps the beer mug full......... A wife is the reason the beer mug stays half empty..........
  11. You are on the right track. Baer makes a fine pistol, but are a bit pricey for alot of people. I would suggest you Look REALLY hard at Kimber OR an STI Trojan. For their price, they can't be beat. A fiber optic front is about the only thing either needs to make them perfect. I use a Blade-Tech holster in IDPA and just love it. CR Speed and Safariland makes great holsters for IPSC as well. As far as magazines, go with either Wilson or McCormick "Power" Mags, don't settle for anything else, trust me. Smith and Alexander makes an excellent one-piece magwell that is both IDPA and USPSA legal and is a MUST if you want to do fast reloads.
  12. Duane is the man!!! He has a really good article about Matt Burkett in the latest Dillons Catalog. Holy Cow!!! Look at that perty gal on pg. 45.........DUANE!!!!!! GET ME HER NUMBER
  13. I reckon 10 shots is 10 shots no matter how you look at it. IMHO the wide-bodied frames are easier to reload, but that's about the only advantage I can see. You can trick out a single stack with Tungsten guide-rods, recoil masters, fancy-schmancy sights, so it basically comes down to shooter ability. As for it being an "entry-level" class, I would agree with that in some respects, mainly because most new shooters have only basic equipment ie...10rd mags.
  14. My normal load in 40 is 4.5grn Titegroup at an OAL of 1.190 @168pf. Well on someones advice, I bought a pound of AA#2 and loaded to the same specs as my normal load (168pf) This stuff sux!!! With Titegroup, my sights return to the point of aim every single time. AA#2 is extremely erratic and the gun is just harsh, the sights don't track for shnit, but I just hear of people swearing by this stuff. What am I missing? I'm not looking to switch from Titegroup, I just thought I'd give this stuff a try. Anyone else experience the same?
  15. Our club kinda has the attitude "If your stupid enough to show up in this mess, then your stupid enough to shoot in it" I've shot in stinging rain, blinding snow, dust-storms and 120 degree heatwaves. It's all in the good though. We only cancel matches when nobody shows up to shoot.
  16. Jim has done several grips for me and I couldn't be any happier. I think his normal turn-around time is about 24 hours which is the best in the business.
  17. Seeing as that nobody around here shoots factory ammo, does anyone know where I might be able to find 50rd styrofoam boxes?
  18. For what it's worth, I tried to order a Koenig hammer from Brownells as well and they were also also out. So there might be a backlog at the factory. The problem might not be Dawson.
  19. Rufus, Rufus, Rufus... right there EXACTLY is the problem we women run into at the range... it's not YOUR time anymore hone Meaning?
  20. First thing I did when I got my 625 was to do a trigger job. Even the revo's from the Performance Center have stiff trigger pulls as well. I had a Miculek 625 from the PC and the trigger pull was as stiff as stock. I've been shooting revolver for a long time and can't remember the last time I saw anything other than a 25 or 625, so they must be doing things right. I would though like to try a 627 once and see what that's all about. PistolPete: Install a Miculek spring kit from Brownells and tweek your strain screw to where the trigger pull is around 8lbs and you will have 100% reliablility. It will be the difference between night and day....guaranteed.
  21. Good Lord they sure are proud of those things!!! $44.....Are they serious? I've used Chip McCormick Power Mags and Wilson 10 rounders with ZERO problems and they are roughly 1/2 the price. I'm sure they are good quality mags but Dayuuuuuumm......44 Bucks!!!! Another vote here for McCormick and Wilson
  22. I hate that there are so many whiners on this board J/K
  23. I only wish some strange lady would come massage my shoulders while I'm shooting. I'd be flattered Kind of a double standard if you ask me
  24. brassmanbrass.com is pretty good, I've used them quite a bit. The ONLY small problem with them I have is that my last 2 orders of .40 brass have been about 90% Glock fired, but it's only a minor. I buy maybe 2000 new cases (Major Match brass) and probably 20,000 once-fired throughout the year for local matches.
