  1. I wonder if I'd live longer if I ate a Jap?
  2. When I was stationed at Naval Air Station North Island (San Diego) We had some guys get busted because one had a photo taken of himself wearing the SEAL Trident, badges etc., He had a buddy in the Public Affairs Department whip him up some flamboyant tale of his eliteness. It said something to the affect that he was assigned to SEAL Team 5 in Coronado and had spent some time in Iraq etc. He got his bigtime story in his local hometown paper. Problem was, someone associated with SEAL Team 5 was sent the article from a family member who was happy that her son was on the team as our hero. The rest in history. If I remember, he lost a stripe or two and had to stand before a courts-martial. He probably was also running for his life after the boys at Coronado found out. I've known several SEAL's and every one of them is VERY modest about their job, really downplaying the significance of what they do. Alot of them don't even wear the Trident with their uniforms off-base because it draws so much attention. Those who enjoy the attention DO NOT last.
  3. You could probably expect to get no more than $1500-$1600. Hard Chrome is a major selling point, but you really can't get out of it what it cost to have it done. After all, it is a used gun.
  4. I agree. "Custom" and "We Won't" shouldn't be used together when promoting a "Custom Shop" Your either a "Custom Shop" or your not. If you need any advice on being a "Custom Shop" Call Benny Hill
  5. If you feel like your getting old, just start saying your age in months. How old are you? Well I'm a young 360 months.
  6. My question has been answered. My apologies if the Poppleholes are a trade secret. I was only curious as to how they compare to other barrel ports. Thanks.
  7. For those who have one. What diameter are the Poppleholes on the ProSx? Thanx
  8. How are the interchangeable breechfaces from SVI holding up after thousands of rounds? Has anyone had any problems in a match related to the interchangeable breachface? I'm considering buying an SV, but this is the only thing I'm not familiar with.
  9. 13 month backlog? That's crazy. IMHO Theres NO gunsmith worth a 13 month wait. Benny Hill, Dan Bedell or J.L. Hardy can have you shooting open with a gun just as good (and cheaper) in 2-3 months.
  10. I have used both Dawson and Limcat and can say I honestly prefer the Limcat. My tuned mags were not dropping free reliably when I hit the mag release button. So to solve the problem, I put the Limcats on and it worked. The mags just needed a bit of extra weight to help them drop reliably. They come apart pretty easily as well.
  11. Just my .02 cents, but give Chuck at Shooters connection a serious look. Dan Bedell is beginning to get a name making Commander length Open guns. His price is about $1500 less than Brazos plus, you won't have to wait a year, maybe a month or two at most. I've shot a ProSx and a Bedell gun and they shoot exactly the same. Take that for what it's worth.
  12. Of course, you can shoot Limited and Open also. Only problem which I'm sure your already aware of is that you will be scored minor and you will need High-Cap mags. We have several people at our club shoot a G34 and other 9mm's in Limited. You don't HAVE to shoot production, you'll just be at a disadvantage if you don't.
  13. Whatever division you choose to shoot, I offer this advice. Practice, Practice, Practice. Everytime I think I have the magical gun combination, someone comes along and proves me wrong. But if you want to shoot Limited 10, a TGO would be a really good gun. If you want to go full-blown limited, an STI or SV is the ONLY way to go, hands down. Don't worry about fancy-shmancy options like Hard Chrome, Tri-Glide, Recoil Masters, Tungsten magwells etc... Keep it simple and you will go far.
  14. I was shooting my new open gun today and had a few strange things happen. First, when a shot was fired, the dot initially rose to the top of the C-More lens (muzzle flip) then dipped waaaaay below the scope. It was almost like the recoil spring was too heavy, so I installed a lighter one. That didn't fix it, so I installed a heavier one with the same results. My new open gun has an STI Trubor comp with 2 barrel ports. I played with my grip, tried a loose grip, same results. Tight grip, same results. What am I missing? My previous Open guns didn't have this problem, the dot always stayed in the view area of my C-More.
  15. I use a Lee FCD and set it to a .416. My groups are consistently 1" or less at 40yds. If .420 is causing the bullet to set back, then try a tighter crimp. DO NOT throw away your FCD because it is definitely a good piece of equipment. Personally, I would even begin to "home-tune" any magazines. Pay the money and get them professionally done. I see shooter after shooter after shooter try to tune mags with the same result every time. Why spend all this money on a gun and use iffy mags?
  16. I would be tempted to say it is NOT legal because the G20 is chambered in 10mm, not .40 I agree with Patrick, you probably wouldn't catch any slack at the local level, but an Area or higher, it might not hurt to go straight to NROI for clarrification.
  17. I about did a back-flip when I saw the trailer for the remake of "Dawn of the Dead" One of my All-Time favorite horror movies. The trailer for the new one looks scary as shiznet.......I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!1
  18. Go to Eric Grauffels website and ask him directly. I talked with him last year and he told me Vectan was importing 20,000 pounds of it, but was unsure of when. He also said he would be talking with them directly at the SHOT show and would have an answer then. So, he might be able to direct you to who the importer is now.
  19. Stage 2 for sure. One good way to "de-hose" a stage it to put in some no-shoots and steel. It is still a fast stage, but no-shoots prevent people from simply pointing the gun and pulling the trigger.
  20. Ditto on ISMI. Best springs on the market
  21. I had a friend who shared his last name as well. He pronounced it "Seh-vi-nee"
  22. I load all except open with Titegroup. Open I use 3N38

  24. I shoot a 6" in Limited, so financially, a spare is out of the question. I always bring my open gun because my shooting partner exclusively shoots open, so I bring it mainly in case she needs it. But when I'm shooting open I don't worry about it because we can use each other as a backup. If you use your available resourses and have enough friendly shooters in your area, you shouldn't really need to bring a backup.
  25. In my experience, this is what I see go wrong with other peoples stuff: 1: AMMO, AMMO, AMMO. Poorly loaded ammo is the #1 killer 2. Extractors (VERY close 2nd) 3. Magazines, dirty, home-tuned, junk magazines 4. Front-Sights 5. Dot-Gun batteries. I still see people going to major matches without a spare. 6. Guns that are "sick" before even coming to a major match Best advice I could give would be to send your gun in to your gunsmith at least once a year or more to have it tuned. He will check the trigger job, check for cracked or worn parts and retune it with new springs. Money well spent.
