  1. You can load 45ACP on the #1 but you will have less issues with the #45 as it fits the cases better. Also do not know about the Nova unit
  2. What slavex said! Nice and easy method for those of us not as mechanically proficient as jmorris...
  3. Beerbaron - outstanding summary post. Thanks (I like to learn about this stuff)
  4. Dirty primer slide area (metal shavings) first guess as that has happened to me, followed by dirty dies, then nonlubed in a non carbided die... my best guesses
  5. Can't remember the company, but there was someone that was making 1911 grip panel spacers/ shims Seems like they came in 1/16" adn 1/8" thickness. You just put them under your normal grip (grips screws might also need to be longer). I personally ended up with as thick of wood grips as possible along with arched main spring housings on mine. If you are handy, you could cut your own out of 16 - 24 guage metal and install....
  6. Prefer shooting to reloading, but reloading is not that bad. Gives me some 'therapy' after a stressful day ... and keeps me in mental touch with what I really like to do
  7. I own a LNL and have some of the same issues as mentioned here, specifically with the primer system. My recs based upon my experience and lots of time on the boards: If you are looking to high volumes of a few calibers - Dillon 650 with case feeder If you looking for simple/ rugged and possibly staying with the same size primer when you change calibers - Dillon 550 If you are looking at low to medium quantities, don't want to spend a lot of money, and are switching between large and small primers - Hornady LNL. I got my LNL as it was cheaper than a 550, I got some bullets for free, it had a 5th station to allow a powder cop and I wanted to switch calibers/ primers quickly. Seeing folks say the loved their Dillon so much they had 2 (one left with large primers, one with small) pushed me there. I have had issues, but overall happy with putting out 4000-6000 rds total/ yr from up to 9 different calibers
  8. Pretty good amount of primers at the Dallas Market Hall show this last weekend. Got some CCI SP primers at 5000 for $135. The Winchester primers were $33-38/ 1000. So the light is starting to glow at the end of the tunnel. As for 'hoarding'... if you are paying Hazmat shipping costs it is not hoarding if you buy a lot, it is efficient allocation of resources....
  9. moonmn16 Thanks for the info on the primer seat punches. I did not know about that. I got the new cam wire from Hornady as a warantee item so I may have been one of the first to get it. The guy there was extremely friendly so I do not think it wa an oversite, just not out yet. Brassaholic13 is spot on about the fatigue issue though. Hope the new punch will minimize the issue in the future for me/
  10. moonman16 - that is a must see video series (that I wished would have been out years ago when I started with the LNL AP). Only issue is that he does not have the new breakaway primer cam wire on his machine. Yes, if it is set up properly to start with then there should not be an issue... but once the cam wire kicks out once then the problems can begin..
  11. I tried the electric tape trick and it worked for a while. Must have had too much thickness from the tape as I actually broke the bracket last night. Luckily I have one slightly bent bracket to limp through the weekend with... There are so many positives about the machine that I like I get doubly upset with the primer system... oh well
  12. Thanks for the tip! One of those minor annoyances soon to be solved
  13. I was going to post the same issue last week but have been on the road. The first top bracket deformed so much it could not hold the cam down. The second bracket deformed some, but the frictionis so low between the cam and bracket the cam kicks out every time. Wished they sold just the bracker by itself as I will probably go through a few more, but look forward to trying the electricla tape next week when i get home.
  14. Nice innovative solution to the space issue. Good work!
  15. If you are shooting Bullseye and are good, then yes it is needed. Otherwise it is just nice ( fun to brag about)
  16. I also had that lately, but no complaints. A full box of Montana Gold 9 mm that weighed over 60 lbs.... But I did not mind carrying it as the lady that is currently on my route is friendly, does not misdeliver mail as others in the past, and probably only weighs 110 herself Boh of my recently damaged boxes did not fall only a couple feet.... They had to have fallen a lot further. I just want to know why the system is set up to allow that.... And why they do not mark busted packages....oh well
  17. I just received a second medium flat rate box of bullets in the last month that was... ahem... abused rather bad. This one had been dropped on a corner and was open with bullets dropping out. The drop was so bad that one of the inner boxes had opened. Only around 50 had leaked out. In the previous instance, around 1200 bullets and all internal boxes and packing material were gone.... In neither instance were there any notes, apologies, etc saying that they had an accident. I have met a lot of really good folks at USPS, but I wonder if maybe they should change some behind the scenes procedures for heavy 'If it fits. it ships' boxes....arrrrggggghhhhhhhh
  18. I had a P1640 and a P1445 in the past. Liked how both of them shot but absolutely HATED taking them apart (series 80). I traded them off for a STI Eagle and have regretted that (the trade, not the Eagle). Now that I am older (and have a lot more experience as my own Armorer) I am jumping back in the pool and have a P14 from Gunbroker on the way. There does seem a period of time where Para products exhibited a higher rate of issues/ complaints but hopefully that is behind us (at least from what I am hearing of late...)
  19. Nice report, and fingers crossed that the pistol shows back up in good shape really soon. Been thinking I will pick up one when they show up locally to add to my two EAA and Colt Delta Elite in 10. FYI, I have seen another 1911 with leaningMSH holes, and have seen more than one with holes in a slightly off location (which really messes with changing the MSH to arched ones like I like)
  20. Much better to be conservative in sizing and reject borderline rounds than oversized and allow 'issues' to appear in the pistol. When using my Dillon guages I separate into three categories. Flush fit with no issues (which can go anywhere), not quite flush fit (which are practice rounds or go through a couple of pistols that feed anything) and 'Warning Will Robinson' ounds that get checked over and typically bullets pulled after checking in a pistol chamber.
  21. Nice use of space adn setup. But as said earlier, put down a solid substrate on the floor. You do not want to pickup a primer in the vacuum cleaner by accident...
  22. That would NEVER happen to me... uh, except for the ... uh... few imes it has. I brute forced my way in the past into distorting the cam rod (2x), and actually broke the top plastic bracket. I messed up again a couple of months ago and have the new breakaway style (free from Hornaday). It works, but you have to listen for it. I have kept everything clean and no issues, except that 10 rounds in I had a pop and did not pay attention. Luckily I only had the primer slide stick and did not bend the new one...

    Sig P210

For what it's worth, I have one of the new 210-Legends with Target sights. Absolutely love it. I like the American style mag release and the beavertail that is now on the new ones. I am glad I got it....
  24. Pretty darn tight. 0.004" by feeler gauge. Have access to a friends mags for a 10 mm Match (I know, same mags) and will give them a try, but that will be at least Sunday before I check the difference, Think you could be right, The mag catch might not be able to fully deploy.
