  1. Getting back to the original issue.... I took the LImited back to the range today. Short story is that the MAGS STILL DROP ON EACH SHOT (arrrggghhhh!!!). I had two mags and 'adjusted' the top lip of the mag cut on both. I did a little, tried again, repeated... until both of them were too wide to go into the gun. Back off a little with a 'love' tap... still no go.... so I think either the mag release either doesn't have enough material on it to hold or there is just too much verticle play around it due to the cuts and the recoil moves it down. Guess the next step will be next week and try to shim it to remove the verticle movement... will wait until after that to call EAA... Once again, thanks for all of the input so far.
  2. So since several folks have these cuts the question is are they all 0.015" wide or am I just lucky. Looking forward to trying out some tweaked mags this weekend,
  3. OK, messed it up 'slightly' again... one more time
  4. Oops, messed up the attach function on the pics
  5. babo_al Thanks for the link. Will work some magic on a mag or two this week and see how it runs next weekend. As to the cut width, I was able to resurrect an old camera with close up and here are some pics of the area in question... you will understand why I was so concerned this morning upon seeing it...
  6. I can run a 0.015" (.381 mm) feeler gage into both cuts, although the one on the right side of the gun is a little looser. Both are even back to front on the cut width. There is a lot of 'wiggle room' open around the right side of the mag catch bar where it goes through the frame. I am trying to power up an old digital camera that has close up focus to take a picture.. As to the plastic comment, my bad... that is what I was expecting so as to explain the dropping of mags from a hardly used pistol. As you stated it is metal.
  7. Just picked up a used Limited Pro in 10 mm off Gunbroker. I was looking at it as a backup pistol when going hog hunting to replace a 44 Mag revolver. Did a quick clean and took it to the range. The magazines ejected after every shot if I did not have my hand supporting the mag (arghhh...). Came home suspecting a worn plastic mag catch but found cracks on both sides of the frame behind the mag release button. (arrrggghhhhhhhh!!!!) Did a search here and found this thread. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=136443&hl=+crack#entry1546285 My 'stress release' cracks are wider than these, so if they are intentional then they have widened up from stress caused by the previous owners ammo..... although there is VERY LITTLE evidenceof firing on the gun. So.... what in the heck can I do about it????? I will call EAA this coming week and try our their 'legendary' customer service but understand that this was purchased used. Any suggestions, condolensces, or even funny stories to help cheer me up are acceptable right now....

  10. nwshowbum... have you had a chance to try them yet? Do they work OK?
  11. Got the Ergo handle and two piece light set. Love the lights as I can now remove an external lamp that was too near my head (lots of heat put off). Like the Ergo handle, works great standing but most of my reloading is seated, so maybe should have gone with the regular height handle. Bottom line though is that the roller portion makes life easier on my wrist and elbow... good stuff
  12. I went through 3 or 4 in the first 3000 rounds reloaded. I am sure some of it was due to having to remove the shell plate multiple times (to clean up spilled powder and to work on fine tuning indexing... but that is another story). I just figure that they are consumables and keep extras around...
  13. Since none of us can feel what you feel when you grip, you have to go with what feels good to you. Everyone's hands are different in size of the various parts, so keep you eyes open and then 'speriment during dry firing.
  14. Welcome, welcome, welcome. make yourself at home, pull up a chair and enjoy... and learn!
  15. Seems like an ongoing issue with the Hornady equipment. I bought my LNL AP in earlly 2008 and it took quite a while to find the press and then collect all the shell plates I needed. Those were just minor headaches though as the equipment is great... when you get it. Hang in there on your searches
  16. I hope the new mags ARE better than the old. Thanks for posting and if you see anything else, please pass it on to this forum.
  17. Welcome from the west of the Metroplex. Definately make your self at home here. A great place to meet folks, learn and share.
  18. I like mine. Decent DA/SA trigger (I just don't like that whole concept). Shoots well and feels good in the hand. Without support though it does become a little 'generic' in the market place.
  19. Lots of talk about extractor issues with the X5 AR over at SigForums. Bruce Gray, all around good gunsmith, thinks it is a design issue. I have one in 40 and occasionally also experience the issues... disappointing to say the least
  20. Ditto on the good looks. Really makes my TS look really plain Jane...
  21. I vote NO for the FO rear. You are supposed to be looking at the FRONT site so anything that distracts this (even more than normal) is generally not a good thing. My $0.02 worth
  22. No suggestions, but welcome to the forum. Lots of good folks and info around. Pull up a chair, sit back and shoot the bu!!.
  23. Welcome !!! from a native Okie living south of the border (Texas...) There are also some good video links on some of the Dillon products I have seen ... Youtube or Google them
  24. Finally able to spend time squaring the trigger bow. Reassembled and the trigger WORKS. Thanks for all of the help. As as fyi, I will be replacing some parts that I filed on. Once I couldn't get things running I figured that it would be a chance to learn some more on ignition parts and how they go together... but the cost of tuition for this would be replacemnts.. although at this time things seem fine THANKS AGAIN
