Software: EzWinScore 3.02** or later (3.02 should be released within the week, and adds 3-gun capability) Palms - I recommend the III-Xe from ebay, about $30 each USPSS 3.17 or later** from www.autoscoringsystems.com. This is a commercial product (no, USPSA does not get a cut). Email Peter Cunningham at "lingus@acenet.com.au" and tell him you want a "Club license" for details. ** I say "or later" only so this post does not become dated. \
  2. Unless, of course, you have one of those four finger models that Colt was (and perhaps) is using.
  3. Hardware is about $30/Palm (IIIxe via E-Bay). The software is pricey - last I checked it was about $700 for a club license (software for 22 Palms for - 2 masters plus 20 score collection Palms), however, he was still hoping to arrange to sell it on a mission count basis. I will be having a conversation with him shortly as I would like to have precise answers. EzWinScore 3.02 will suport Three Gun Palm integration (sorry, no Multigun in the Palm - at least not yet) and is being put to an initial test at a 3 gun in Massachusetts this Sunday.
  4. I will be presenting an overview of the Palm scoring system from 6-7PM immediately preceeding the Presidential Candidate's Forum at the Nationals in Missoula. I'll have about 20 Palms with me so interested persons can give this system a try, and also show how it integrates with EzWinScore.
  5. Unless you are fortunate enough to have engaged in prudent stockpiling of this stragegic commodity any issue related to the use of Federal primers is almost certainly irrelevant at present - everyone is out, and those who list them on their website turn out to be "out of stock" if you actually try to order.
  6. Air soft mags don't do well when dropped onto concrete. Is that Home Depot box some sort of padded magazine catch basin?
  7. Talk to the electronic lock vendors at the Shot show, and you'll hear two interesting answers: 1. No, our locks don't fail and lock people out. 2. No, we will not pay for the service and repair of the safe if one of our electronic locks fail.
  8. The only problem with this approach is that it is easier to carry off one or two small safes than a single big safe. Best bet is two large safes .
  9. Answers may be found in the BATFE publication regarding non-immigrants purchasing and posessing firearms There are other restrictions in at least one state. For example, a non-citizen (even w/green card) living in Massachusetts may only obtain a license for a low capacity rifle (such as the Barret M82A1), but may not obtain a license to possess a handgun or rifle capable of accepting a > 10 round magazine (such as the Ruger 10/22). If that non-citizen lives outside Massachusetts (including foreign countries), (s)he may mail order a Massachusetts license that covers high capacity rifles and handguns (assuming the applicant can find a MA certified instructor to give them a state accepted course). If this does not make any sense to you, you have probably read it correctly .
  10. Where are you "currently seeing" Q3131A? I would like to pick up a couple of cases! Just the boxes in my gun room; my local shop seems to be getting alternating supplies of Federal American Eagle or XM193 as their generic 223 offering. Just wish I bought a lot more when it was under $100 a case.
  11. Wrong frame of reference - I was referring to comments by Rudi Guilliani that some are interpreting as being pro choice on the gun issue (got it mixed up with a thread on another gun forum).
  12. <<<erroneous reply deleted>>>
  13. I heard reports several years ago about some overpressure rounds in WWB .223 with a "Q3131" marking (not the "Q3131A" marking you currently see).
  14. Winchester White Box (WWB) is very hazardous ammo - to gunshops. Walmart sells it for what is probably in many cases less that the shops pay for their ammo and certainly at a price no shop can compete with.
  15. You mean like the one that explained to me what USPSA was doing; or the one that was well connected with Glock but didn't even pretend to recognize the name of the local Glock rep.
  16. And, typically, that "contract rate" is way less than walk in people are charged.
  17. My best experience in this area was a dentist who charged an estimated deductible based on what my dental coverage paid ($660 bill). It turns out the "paid in full contract price" was $250, not $660. I sent the dentist a bill for "unauthorize charge in excess of contractually permitted copay" and she paid it. It I didn't have insurance, I would have been hammered $660 for that visit, not simply paid the amount the insurance company paid. Another bill I got from an MD was "cash price $2400, insurance contract price paid in full $425."
  18. But the real question - will Volune II be set in feudal Japan or modern times? If it's set in Feudal Japan, we may not see the IMM Open for a while.
  19. Just look at the M and NS count from the match - even the winners had at least a few M's.
  20. Where I come from (People's Republic of Massachusetts), simple speeding is not "Criminal" but a "Violation". In fact, there is no finding of guilt or innocence in a speeding hearing - simply "Responsible" or "Not Responsible" (reflecting the non-criminal nature of the offense). Drunk driving is a crime and treated entirely differently by the court system.
  21. I have the same problem with my Hyundai Sonta (2 of them) - they come with very high rated tires. I haven't figured out why they do this on cheap cars - usually it's a matter of finding cheap stuff on the expensive vehicles. I can only assume the tire manufacturers are giving the car companies good deals on the V's so that buyers will get in the habit of replacing with the same grade. I am hoping to wear my tires out in left/right pairs so I can go to a grade more appropriate for my rather boring driving style. Nah, stick them behind pepper poppers.
  22. This is true in "Shall Issue" states. If you ever apply for a permit in states where there is "discretionary issue", any interaction with the criminal justice system - including arrests that do not even result in charges, or a 'not guilty' finding can be cause to denial. Some states can even deny you the license they require to own a handgun (not even carry) bases on subjective criteria such as "deemed by the licensing officer to be not a person suitable to be so licensed." If Texas HK feels he was guilty (not attending match or on a continuous and uninterrupted journey) the deal is pretty decent. If he honestly feels he attempted to comply with FOPA86 and did not simply have his gun in NY for a few days without a 265.20(13) exemption, the deal is a screw job.
  23. I tried the form letter feature and didn't have a problem - I'd be interested in hearing how common this problem is. Even if you could get it working, I'd suggest that you will find the approach Bill suggests with Mail Merge in MS/Word would be more convenient.
  24. Some states require that all arrests be disclosed, including those that are supposedly removed from your record. (But then, I live in an unusual state where the courts have held that exercising your right to remain silent is a valid reason for revoking the permit needed to even possess a handgun). There are also various federal databases such as the III that states report arrests and convictions to, and it's not always possible to have any reference purged from those. I urge you to obtain court certified documentation of the disposition of the case while it is "fresh" and your attorney is able to get this easily. An incomplete record showing up in a computer somewhere could send you on a scavenger hunt while muttering "this was supposed to be removed", and proof that the offense was legally "non criminal" could prove very convenient. It will be much more difficult getting a "court certified copy" of this record in another decade or two if a situation occurs where you need it. I would also suggest you read the article by the New York County Lawyer's Association regarding the inability to seal the court records of non criminal cases such as disorderly conduct: http://www.nycla.org/siteFiles/Publication...ations246_0.pdf
