  1. Build this for $1000 ($1300 including slide work) including 3 extended mags, holster and pouches!!! 20+1 capacity, awesome Apex FSS trigger, and RUNS, RUNS, RUNS... wet, muddy, dusty... JeffWard
  2. A full size 1911, shooting 9mm minor reloads, recoils about like a stout 22... I agree that if 380 wasn't so silly expensive (due to opportunistic pricing of dealers with the glut of 38Auto pocket pistols being sold) that a 380ACP 1911 would shoot SOFTLY. I think there are still a bunch of all-steel European semi-autos available cheap, since Euro Police Services were restricted to 380 for years... though I'd be suspect of the reliability! JW

    The Heat

Welcome to EVERY summer in Florida... But then, we have 75 degree winters coming... JeffWard
  4. I avoid gun-shops like the plague. Unfortunately, I had to enter one the other day. I have a female friend who loves my M&P 9 Full-Size, but I wanted to show her the Glock 17 and the XD 9 also. One of the brilliant counter-help suggested she buy a 22 Magnum Revolver (about 4" long). "It's a great defensive gun! That 22Mag will go right through a guy like an armor piercing round!" Me: Could I please look at the Glock and the XD along side the M&P please??? Jeff
  5. I "built" my own M&P 40 Pro Limited gun... But I would never attempt at 2011. I built the M&P with a bench vise and punches in my condo's 2nd bedroom. Not sure I'd want to fit my own slide, and expect it to run! Jeff
  6. Is this a hypothetical $5K/week, or the real deal? If it's real, you need a great personal trainer/nutritionist, so that you'll live a VERY long time, and stay active up until check-out, at which time you can will me the balance... JeffWard
  7. I'm shooting Sunday (signing up Monday), but I'm shooting my pimped out bottom-feeder... Is Cliff shooting revo, or his fancy new CZ? JeffWard
  8. It's a 10mm, but I also have a 10mm-9x25 Dillon barrel for it. Too bad 9X25 Dillon isn't Limited legal...
  9. How else can I converse with 3 cute chicks at once??? I text on! JeffWard
  10. Slide Lightening and coating by Customized Creationz. M&P 40 Pro JeffWard
  11. 20 years of lifting... If you can shrug 365 lbs for reps with no straps... you can control recoil! JeffWard
  12. There WAS quite a bit of metal removed down the flanks. The extractor usually sits flush in the factory slide. Mine definitely stands out from the sides. Near the bottom edge of the slide, where it meets the frame, it is still full thickness. JeffWard
  13. I used a large-tip (conical) soldering iron I inherited from my grandfather about 20 years ago... I drank about 2-3 beers, and went nuts. I'll do EVERY gun I own from now on. JeffWard
  14. It is lighter than a 2011 for sure, but I'm use to the M&P platform shooting LOTS of Production with a 9 Pro. The weight of the 20 round mags, tungsten guide rod, mag well, etc, makes it shoot REALLY solid, for a polymer gun. The reduction in slide weight makes it feel even better to ME... I've never shot more than a few rounds from a 2011, so I don't have a real frame of reference. I FSS Trigger from Apex makes a HUGE difference. I installed it myself, and tweaked the contact surfaces, and spring combos. Even the guys who shoot 1911s who have tested it usually respond with a "holy sh__"! The guys who shoot Glocks and M&Ps, and even XDs just drool... The slide locks to the rear FINE with the shortened followers. But you MUST use XL springs. Still get 20 rounds (19 reloadable) with the XL springs from SSS. JeffWard
  15. I went to a shorter front sight on mine, with the factory rear, I think .02" lower. Dawson swore I was "wrong", but it produces POI right at the top edge of the front blade from 5-20 yards. A bit higher at 30+ yards, but I like that. I can see more of the steel at distance, and then point-shoot close paper. JeffWard
  16. He left all the steel along the slide rails, and the top-center of the slide is solid, so it should retain plenty of rigidity. Most of the flex/strength is a slide is along the rails and the top center. I'm shooting 90% 200Gr 40s loaded to about 170 PF, so the gun shoots REALLY soft. Time will tell, but the M&P platform is SO cheap compared to the S_I guns (half the build price), I can just build another!! (I'm considering a 9 Major soon.) JW
  17. Todd also does Glocks, Sigs, and I assume can do XDs! JeffWard
  18. I just got my slide back on my M&P 40 Pro Limited gun. I'm VERY happy with the work done. I hade the slide custom machined/lightened by Todd McKechnie at Customized Creationz (www.customizedcreationz.com). I haven't weighed it yet, but he took almost an 1/8" out of the sides of the slide, plus the chevron shaped cuts. The slide cycles noticable faster with the weight drop. I'm shooting a 13# Wolfe spring over a full length Tungston guide rod. Mods to date: Dawson F/O front sight (factory Novak rear) Apex FSS Trigger with factort TRS and Sear Spring SSS Tungston full length guide rod Wolfe 13# spring SSS "ESP" Aluminum Mag Well Taylor Freelance mag extensions SSS Extra length/power mag springs "Trimmed" follower legs (about 1/8") for 20+1 capacity Customized Creationz Custom Series Competition Slide Lightening and M&P Serrations added to the top on the slide, behind the ejection port. I'm LOVING this gun. Todd did GREAT work, and his prices are VERY reasonable for the quality. He's also very willing to work with you on design, colors, etc! Please PM me if you need any feedback on his work or services. Crappy cell phone pics... This thing needs a REAL camera to do it justice! JeffWard
  19. Any updates on this subject? About the only thing I HAVEN'T done to my M&P Limited 40 is a barrel swap. Have anyone seen a REMARKABLE difference in accuracy with an aftermarket barrel in an M&P or Glock? Thanks! Jeff
  20. Exactly.... Thanks Benny. WE ALL KNOW IT'S YOUR GUN!!!! Unfortunately Jerry gets the check... PS... Mine looks a LOT like that, minus the chrome bits... for $600... And it runs, and runs, and runs, and runs.... on Walmart ammo. Yes, and Tru Glo Front and rear fiber set is awesome! Jeff
  21. If you go to the GALLERY you will see a pic of my 40 OPEN MAJOR (ETG) It features all the specs. I prefer the KKM barrel over the LW for a little more $$$ you get a little more accuracy. If that matters to you. Can you link to this pic? I can't find it and would love to see a comp mounted up. JW
  22. Aren't the fields around Montgomery full of Feral Hogs? Those are free! Jeff
  23. I've settled in at 4.0 of Solo under the 200Gr Bayous. No pressure signs, and nice and soft to shoot. Not quite JHP smokeless, but MUCH better than black-moly "smokeless". 4.4 Gr showed some pressure signs but nothing too bad. Yes, loaded short for the M&P... But my Cor-Bon 135Gr +P 40 is a LOT hotter... Jeff
