  1. I just bought 1000 from Precision Bullet... before I heard about Donny's Bayou Bullets... I'll try Bayou next time around. Jeff
  2. Get a DPMS 3G1, a decent 1-4 optic, and a good used Production gun... $2000! Jeff
  3. Cool..... But I prefer my beer in Tokyo poured by a HOT little Japanese bartender... But that's just me... IF, I were in Tokyo. Jeff
  4. My 930 has been awesome. After a few initial break-in sputters running all kinds of junk... Now, running Walmart Federal low-brass, it's been 100% as I can remember. It's getting its new chokes as we speak... Jeff
  5. I can get on from my work computer (Verizon DSL), and fro my iPhone (Safari), but I cannot log on from home (Brighthouse Cable). Both computers are running Firefox. Suggestions? Thx, Jeff
  6. I ordered Friday. It all shipped Monday. I got it Wednesday. Gun built on Thursday!!! Match shot Friday... SSS??? Big thumbs up. Jeff
  7. Looks familiar... Mine is the 40 Pro, Limited Major!!! Mags are true 20-rounders in 40, (19 in reloads). I shot my first match with it last night, and I think I won the Over-All. JeffWard
  8. I got 3 Taylor Freelance extended baseplates for my M&P 40 Limited build. No matter how much sanding and shaping I do on the followers, I'm getting +4 with the factory mag spring, and +3 with the recommended extra-power spring... What am I missing? TF website and SSS website BOTH claim +5... I want my 20 round mags! Jeff
  9. I think the OP wants to load down to sub-sonic (under 1100 fps), for use with a suppressed gun. Suppressed 9mm's are TOUGH to get to run reliably! If you are going to shoot a suppressed 9mm, you NEED to shoot as heavy of a bullet as you can, so the 147 IS your best option. This is why the Special Ops guys who run suppressed weapons in combat almost always run a 45 ACP, either in the HK, or 1911 platform... Not Berettas. If you're running suppressed, from a RRA 1911 platformed 9mm gun... go heavy. My 9mm competition loads, at 130 Power Factor (for USPSA) is a 147gr 9mm, clocking 885 fps. 885fps is easily subsonic, and should run a suppressed gun, but you may be able to push it up toward 950 fps for more energy, and still keep the noise down. The slide speed and lock-up is significantly effected by a can hanging off the end of the barrel. If you're shooting 115gr bullets, you have to push the bullet 1130 fps to get to similar energy levels, which is supersonic, and will give you too much "crack" leaving the suppressor. ALSO... you have to consider that a 7-8" suppressor, will result in an effective barrel length of 9-10 inches... so a bullet that leaves my 5" barrel at 885 fps, might get up closer to 900 suppressed. Your best bet is to contact the manufacture of the suppressor, and find out what THEY shoot (weight and velocity) to run their system optimally... JW
  10. Three weeks old???? 10 FTEs??? Send it back to Glock! Or go buy an M&P.... Jeff
  11. I was born at the very end on the non-PC, safety-free, active-lifestyle generation... 1970. My last "game-system" was an Atari II. The only helmet I ever wore on a bike was my dad's snowmobile helmet when jumping my bike over a big rock.... age 12??? Not because it was safer, but because I felt like Evel Kenievel. I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (3 at a time), washed down with whole milk, 2 hours before dinner... because that was what was in my house when I came home from school. The water supply to my house was the lake in front of it... and it was cleaner than the "city water" available 1 mile away... Recreation was taking a bolt-action 22 and a brick of shells into the woods to shoot apples, rocks, tree stumps, and occasionally squirrels. When my brother and I ran out of 22 shells, we'd shoot grasshoppers, IN FLIGHT, with B Guns... Daisy 1-pumps. When we got bored, we'd turn the BB guns on one another! No... I still have both eyes. Yes... I could hit a flying grasshopper at 10-12 feet pretty regularly! Life was good... There was a creepy old guy down the street who offered kids candy all the time. Our parents told us to stay away, because he was creepy. It he ever touched a kid, he'd have been shot, not put on a list. Yes, we survived. If the world as we know it collapses all around us... I would hate to think of what will become of Generation X, Y, or D... They'll fold like lawn-chairs in a hurricane. I'll thrive... I'm almost looking forward to it... LOL JeffWard
  12. Has anyone tried the Chiappa 22LR Upper? They're on sale for about $280 w/ 2 mags.... Same manufacturer as the crazy new revolvers... Jeff
  13. Another perspective.... I find if I "grind" too much for too long, I get burned out, and my performance slips. I develop apathy, and sloppy habits. When I take a week or two off, then do a few sessions of dry-fire, then come back for a match focused only on good fundamentals... I kick a$$. Same in the gym... I force myself to take an off-week every 8 weeks or so. Let the body heal and recover. Come back hungry and strong. Shooting and training can get mentally grueling. If you're burning yourself out one week before a match, you're hurting yourself more than helping. My 2 cents... Jeff
  14. The most expensive days of a man's life: 1) His divorce. 2) His marriage. 3) His first house. 4) The day after his first 3-Gun match.... Luckily, I avoided 1 and 2 all together... Which allowed much more for #4. JeffWard
  15. Thanks all. It's on my "wishlist" at Midway. I'll load a few hundred and see how they go. The chamber on my M&P Pro 9mm was pretty finicky. we'll see how this new 40 goes... Jeff
  16. I saw the Bulge Buster Die at Midway. Is the catch bucket (kit) just a pain? Do they press through, and you grab the sized one from the top, and place a un-sized in the press? Or do you have to place it, press it, remove it, repeat? Jeff
  17. So I can buy a Lee Reloader Single Stage, ($29 at Midway), and the Bulge Buster Kit ($20 from Lee), and I'm DONE??? Push 'em all through, the load them up on the SDB? Jeff
  18. For now (until I get a 650...) I will be loading for my new M&P40 Pro on my square deal. I will be using range brass, out of lotsa Glocks. I understand I will have issues, unless I use a undersized die to full-length size and deprime. I guess lots of guys just have a single-stage press set up for this??? What's the best BUDGET solution, until I get the 650, which full-length resizes, for fixing Glocked 40 brass? Thanks Guys! Jeff
  19. I picked up a NIB M&P 40 Pro Friday at 5:00 pm. I also bought 100 rounds of ammo, and 2 new mags. I loaded the mags in the car on my way to my regular 6pm match, put 10 rounds down the pipe to confirm POA/POI, oiled up the standard lube locations, and then WON Limited 10... Bone stock gun, somebody else's ammo, and 10 squeezes "experience"! Of course I was moving from a M&P Pro Series 9mm, to an M&P Pro Series 40... LOL... so it didn't feel THAT foreign... I like my new gun already! PS... The 2011 Pro Series factory triggers, are about a light-year ahead of the 2009 standard trigger. I'm still swapping it out, but it's MUCH better... All the new parts come this week... Can't wait to get home each day to see what UPS brought. Jeff
  20. I log on today, looking for new reloading info for 40 and Solo 1000... BAM, first thread... NICE! Just got my 5" M&P 40 Pro yesterday! Jeff
  21. I've loaded SO MUCH 9mm, I can FEEL the difference at least 9 out of 10 times when I pick it up to load it... The cases are lighter and smaller. I do still occasionally drop one into my SDB. It will resize/de-prime, the primer will seat, and then it will POP out of the priming station before the powder drops, since the rim is smaller. I now have about 50-70 primed 380 cases ready to go... if I ever get the dies! (I do carry/shoot a Kel-Tec 380) Also... if you put your cleaned brass in a tray and shake them back and forth, the cases will mostly align themselves right-side up (heavy end down), and the shorter 380 brass will stick out like short little sore thumbs... Jeff
  22. Golf Ball targets for rifles... I dug a shelf back into the dirt berm, laid a carpet piece across in front (below the shelf), and carpet behind the shelf. The carpets minimized the "splash" of dirt from rifle hits. We teed the balls up on tall golf tees, about 9" apart, close to the front of the shelf. We shot the golf balls at about 15 yards, with a barrel available for a rest. A golf ball is 1.68" in diameter, so roughly equates a 16-18" steel at 150-200 yards. Most shooters took 6-8 shots to clear all 5 balls, which was great. Most of the golf balls took 5-7 hits before they were unusable. Even 7.62 pretty much passed through and through. We'll use them again! Jeff
  23. I'm thinking of a styrofoam block, set behind a railroad tie to absorb low hits. Tee up golf balls on tees into the styrofoam... I have hundreds of used golfballs, and tees are damn near free... We have bays with a max effective range of 20 yards. Gotta go small... Jeff
  24. 1100s??? There's guys still shooting 1911s! Talk about antique equipment? LOL JW
  25. I have a M&P Pro Series 9 that I run in Production. It has a Burwell trigger-job, and stippled grips, recoil spring and guide-rod, etc (all Production Legal). I want to buy a 40 Pro for Limited, and I know that the 40 and 9mm frame/trigger/sear group are identical. Can I legally run the 40 Cal slide and barrel, on my current 9mm frame with all the trick parts, and be legal in Limited, after simply sticking on a mag-well and swapping mags? I'd prefer not to send out the 40 Pro frame right away for trigger mods (which I'll do eventually). The trigger job includes a VERY mild reshape of the striker surface, which I can replicate for a new striker, or I can even swap the striker with the rest. I REALLY wish S&W would sell me a stripped 40-Pro slide! I'd add Dawson sights, a striker, extractor, Storm Lake 5.01" barrel, and be done... Why do I ask???? 2011 shooters swap components ALL the time, for different frames on different slides, and vice-versa. Glock shooters replace frames on their 34/35s. Is this legal? Why not with the M&P? Thanks, Jeff
