  1. I am not running Montana Gold but I am shooting blue bullets 147 flat point and I have to load short 1.095 oal. I planned to ream the barrel in the future but I have held off because I haven't had any issues with it.
  2. I run blue bullets 147FP at 1.095 OAL with 2.9 TG with a 132pf very accurate and very soft. Of all I have tried, I found that the blue bullets works best for me.
  3. I have tried all the different inserts but just found that the long flat is the most consistent for me
  4. Just switched from my XDM 5.25 to a shadow target ll. I had it for a few days before my first match, wish I would of done a little more dry fire with it but it went ok. Since then my draws are just as fast as my XDM and I really don't notice the double action anymore. I am running a 8.5lb main spring so the DA is very very nice, and SA is better then any of my open or limited gun. Wish I would of switched to CZ a long time ago, enjoy

Great product at a great price, I have six of them on my new mecgar 17 round cz mags
  6. We have about 1300 members at our range and out of all those people we only have about 8 people that shoot the uspsa match, the rest of our shooters come from out of town. We average 25 to 30 shooters a month, used to be more but with more and more clubs opening up we have lost some shooters. That really doesn't bother me much because 30 shooters makes for a fast match and also affords me the ability to shoot instead of just working the match. We usually run 6 stages and I have one guy that helps me set up one day when he is not out of town. There is usually only 2 of us working registration and getting the nooks setup and sometimes it gets a little hectic but we make due. At the end of the match most everyone is good about breaking down their stage and I have a handful that stay and help us put the components away. I usually try and give them a price break on the next match, I just charge them half price and that is well worth it to me. Most all our money goes back into the program with the exception of what we pay USPSA and we give to the Jr program at our range. Last year we donated to rifles that were given away to 2 Jr's at our annual meeting. I have been trying for the last year to get more people involved but haven't had much luck. I talk to all the new people joining the club during their orientation, but haven't gotten any takers yet. I went back to shooting production so they wouldn't be intimidated by a open gun, thinking they would have to have something expensive or fancy. I show them this is out of the box gun with a little polishing nothing major, but again I still haven't gotten any takers. I hope to find someone I can start training to take over at some point. I don't mind donating my time and it always feels good when people tell you a great match but I want this match to carry on and continue to bring in new young shooters after I am gone doing something else in life. It just seems like it's the same core group doing all the work and I haven't figured out how to fix that.
  7. My oven is built out of a stack-on gun cabinet with some insulation I got off of amazon along with a 8 inch stove element. I bought a universal oven thermostat off eBay along with a BBQ thermometer to go on door. It's a pretty basic setup which cost about $225 to build. I have 2 racks in it so if I am doing a bunch of small parts and when I am doing long guns the bottom rack comes out. It holds temperature very well and the thermostat is also very accurate which surprised me to be honest. It only takes a few minutes to reach temperature and it's run off a 20 amp 220 circuit. Well worth the investment if you are going to do more then one or two guns. I will guarantee one thing, as soon as your friends see what you can do they will be wanting that good buddy discount.
  8. I am using a Ingersoll Rand 200G touch up gun with a .8mm nozzle size. It has been a great gun for me, plenty of adjustments in the gun and sprays very flat. I have never had any issue's keeping it wet when I spray but have never had any issues with runs. The best part is that it's only like 50 bucks on amazon.
  9. Follow the cerakote directions on soaking and out gassing, as of everything prep is the key. I don't do it in the house anymore (first time did it before I built a dedicated oven wife wasn't to happy), too much smell. I also have a small blast cabinet with dedicated media for clean blasting only, no oils or grease. After you blast or prep make sure you are wearing gloves so you don't contaminate your work. I have used a air brush and also a small hvlp depending on the size of the job. During one of my first jobs I did get a little water contamination through my air lines before I had a better filtration system for my compressor. One of the great little saver of that is the small disposable filter connected to your spray gun few dollar insurance for small amounts of condensation in the air line. Spray it wet but don't over coat it and get runs, you don't need a ton of coats but do look at you piece from all angles before you bake it unless you like to redo work. You also can go the route of air dry cerakote it holds up pretty well, I have a production gun that is finished with air dry, because I ordered the wrong product. Like I said prep is the key, don't cut corners. Feel free to pm if you have any questions and good luck
  10. I bought a 250 pack of 115gr blue bullets and run them through my open gun with no issues. They are very accurate and just a slight bounce of the cmore dot, alot better then the 124gr I have been shooting. They are a little faster than other 115gr I have tried but I am always happy to save money using less powder. I have been running autocomp with no signs of over pressure with cci small pistol primers. Hope this helps
  11. I finally had a chance to get to the range yesterday and run this drill, and the one thing I can say for me it was a lot tougher then it sounds. I ran the drill 14 times and came up with a average of 7.23 with penalties added. This gives a base to watch over the next year to see my improvement. I can see that I haven't been watching the front sight like I need, and I am sure that will improve with this drill. I look forward to the second part of this drill and how it will keep improving my transitions. I hope to run these at least once a week and dry fire when I can't. Thanks for help. Pm sent
  12. Check the tension on your extractor I was having the same problem, I adjusted the extractor and the problem went away. I have a sideways mount on mine but I was getting the same chewed up brass, until I tightened the extractor up.
  13. The first thing I would do is take the roller off the Lyman gauge and slide the shaft through the extractor gauge and put the nut back on, this will give you a better and more honest reading.
  14. I am looking for peoples pet loads with Varget and Tac for my 308 bolt gun. I see that Varget is a popular powder but I have some Tac I would like to try but I don't want to waste my time if nobody is having great luck with it, I will save it for my 223. I seems that what I have read about Varget is everyone seems to be at the top end of the load or a little over compared to what it says in the book, anybody having signs of pressure???? My Remington seems to have a chamber that goes on forever so I am just going to run 2.810 OAL. Thanks for the help and advice.....
  15. RAMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. When I was shooting Limited I would order Billy Bullets, the customer service is spot on #1. Always shipped before he ever received a payment, orders came quick and the quality of the product is also excellent. When I go back to Limited he will be the one I call....
  17. I picked up a used open gun last year and had a hard time picking up the dot until I switched to the Quinn II. The dot just was right there for me with that mount. Coming from limited to open with that mount seemed a lot easier for me, and its also nice to be able to pick up my limited gun time to time and not skip a beat.. Hope you find what works for you..
  18. I just want to thank everyone for their input and help. I am starting with some Varget, its nice to hear that this powder gets high marks from everyone. I am going to try the 155, 168 and 175, after I finish loading my pistols, I need another press. Thanks again everyone...
  19. First off let me thank everyone for the help. I am new to rifle reloading, I used to just buy all my ammo until I started reloading for my pistols. I recently won a Remington SPS Tactical 308 with a 20" barrel and a 1/12 twist. I have researched and found some info but I really would like to know the best bullet weight and powder. It has a new stock and a Burris 6x20x50 Fullfield II Tactical scope on it. I am limited to 200yds at my home range but will try and be traveling to find some longer ranges. Thanks again for all the help and advice.....
  20. Another vote for Solo 1000 for least smoke and best price. I shoot some lead but mostly moly's
  21. Welcome, When you feel like it come shoot steel on the 2nd Sunday and IPSC 5 stage match on the 3rd Saturday of the month in Waco at CTRP. Enjoy the forum it has a ton of great info and watch the classifieds they have lots of great things..
  22. I got mine last week and have been very happy with it over my ghost. It has a lot of adjustment, but my only complaint is the height adjustment, I wish it would go a little lower. It is very smooth and keeps the gun very stable even when unlocked. I was able to take 2 tenths off my draw because it gives me the same grip every draw. I was having problems with my ghost because the gun could move some much back and forth in the holster, but all that is gone with the RM. I shoot my fist match in a week with it, and I am really looking forward to it.. All in all a great holster..
