  1. I use the +7. Yes it sticks out an inch but when I toss it in a dump barrel my muzzle is protected by the extra tube length. Jay
  2. The heat sink is one of the least expensive upgrade products you can get for your rifle at 75 dollars. Again, as many others stated I am not an expert and may be wrong here. I recall something that the full stainless steel barrels cool less efficiently than chrome-molly. I believe that is one of the benefits of combining a JP stainless barrel and sink together. Quote from JP WEBSITE "Tests show that most heat resulting from sustained fire is developed in a 2- to 3-inch area in front of the chamber causing throat erosion and reduced accuracy over time, not to mention the problem of heat buildup in the hand guard itself that makes handling of the rifle difficult or impossible."
  3. That being said by Villamor, He and I will both be shooting irons next week. He in heavy metal and I in tac, iron or limited, or whatever they are calling it these days. Jay
  4. I believe you may want a rifle length forend. Without it you will have an unprotected section of gas tube. Check classifieds for some good deals on forends
  5. Charles, I,m on your squad as well. I've been seeing your name on the forum for years. I look forward to shooting with you. I will take full advantage of those with high experience. Jay
  6. Interesting how the same topic up in the rules banner has an almost 100 percent opposite direction as it applies to this topic. Most hear are for unloaded being the safest, most there are for safety on being the safest practice. Jay
  7. Well stated sfchorn, You post toes the line with the conclusions I would make. As for gaming a stage I think we can all, most of us, agree that running back to get a reshoot would be cheating, not gaming. Jay
  8. I can't answer the math on the dwell time. What I can attest too is that I used to have a short m4 and some of my co-workers still do. At 200 yards on a 8 and 10 inch MGM flashers a low hit does not carry enough energy to activate the targert. High hits in the upper 1/3 would usually get it to move enough to call a hit but you really had to be looking close. jay
  9. +1 on JP. You won't be disappointed. Jay
  10. So do I have it right that the paypal sandbox is only a practice site. I don;t need an account to be able to register as long as my real paypal is active. Jay
  11. At my age and with the onset of cataracts, I am having some issues with distant targets and irons. If it's sunny, it's not as bad, but cloudy days really make it tough as the front sight looks distorted. Much less see the target. Irritating as I enjoy shooting the irons. Craig Craig, Just giving you a poke with a stick. Jay
  12. Mpls/St Paul International is about 75 miles from the range. Jay
  13. Look at JP under the vendor forum, There are photos of a 16 inch with the XL handgaurd. Jay
  14. Thanks for the info. It will be interesting to see how 2011 progresses. Oh, and I second Mike Pinto's response. Jay
  15. Skip the clamp, I stopped using one. Nordic says that with the redesign of the nut and the length of the threads on the Benelli the clamp in not nessassary. (Benelli only, not sure on other shotguns) Plus you can change poi with slugs. On another note, when I did use it I used a couple slices of bicycle inner tube against the barrell and the clamp. You have options. Jay
  16. StealthyBlagga, Can you fire out some data on the numbers. X-number of shooters in this group now as from last year. How many shooters have come directly into 3 gun because they could go RDS. Maybe numbers of iron shooters that switched to RDS and Optics shooters that downgraded from magnification. Of course, how RDS is stacking up on the final results. Its a lot of info but I am interested. I'm not in a hurry so if you can generate the info, take your time. post it or pm me. Thanks Jay
  17. For me it would be the cost of replacing my handgun and rifle. No, I won't sell what I already have to get new stuff. Otherwise I would like to try HM. Jay
  18. All this degradation of the shotgun terminology both in the posts and the topic titles. I had a scary thought for a few minutes and thought that maybe an all ghetto match where you can bring all "pimp" toys should be added to the calender. I'll bring my CZ. Jay
  19. This was just posted on Del Tones Website. Fellow Shooters, Pistol Shooting at Del-Tone Gun Range is Back! Beginning February 04,2011. Sherburne County has approved the design/improvements for overhead/ground Baffles on Bay 3. After several months of being shut down due to allegations and no evidence, we are excited to get back to Handgun shooting at one of the Safest and Best shooting facilities in the Upper Mid-West. In preparation for our re-opening of the pistol range, the entire facility will be closed during the month of January, except for special events. We will re-open on Friday, February 4th, 2011 for pistol shooting along with Trap, Skeet and rifle shooting at the 100 yard bay. (See new hours below) This 5 week shut down will allow us to remove snow, conserve energy and prepare for new programs, classes and leagues. We will also use this time to install and update our new POS, (Point of Sale), computer program which we are looking forward to. A New Shotgun Annual Membership program will be offered this year. Yearly member fees will be good for discounts on Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays and 5 Stand plus ammo discounts. Watch for upcoming details. Due to the high lost target count from our voice-release system on our trap range, counters will be installed on two of our highly used machines in an attempt to curtail this activity. Rifle/Handgun/Archery Annual Memberships will be available beginning February 4, 2011. Memberships will be the same price as last year with discounts on ammunition. The Range hours will be consistent with the clubhouse/shotgun facility. Also, Rapid Fire shooting will now be allowed for all of our customers which will present the opportunity for our Military and Law enforcement to practice as well as our CCW customers. Strict supervision will be enforced by our Range Safety Officers. The following rules are a part of our new Conditional Use Permit (CUP) Maximum caliber on the Handgun Bay is .44 magnum. Range Safety Officers will be staffed at all times on the Rifle and Handgun ranges. (Pistol Range, (Bay 3), has 8 shooting positions, 5yds-50yds) No cross target shooting or action shooting at this time The 200 yard bay remains closed, however we plan to have it re-opened by June 1st or sooner. New Hours: Starting February 04, 2011 Friday, Saturday, Sunday - Noon to 5:00pm March, 2011 Closed March 1st thru 3rd Open March 4th thru March 13th - Noon to 6:00pm Daylight Savings March 13th March 14th thru 31st - Noon - 7:00pm April-Sept 7 days a week - 11:00am to dusk Hours may change so please watch the website. We will be forming new leagues this spring for Rifle, Tactical/Hunter, Handgun, Action Shotgun, etc. Please watch our website for updates. Happy New Years to all of our Friends and Customers. See you at the Range!
  20. My 3 gun shotgun is a camo M1 Super 90 duck gun with a 26 inch barrel. Jay
  21. When I free up some extra cash I intend to get a Safariland security holster for 3 gun. Looking back at the Lake stage at the Ozarks I had to crank down my Blade Tec screws real tight so my handgun wouldn't fall or get bumped out. I just don't trust it to hold a 45 oz CZ. Jay
  22. I can't help but go to this shoot with it being only 80 miles away. Jay
  23. Depends on the rules. You will find matches where you can go prone with your handgun unloaded and holstered. Then to be charged upon needing it after dumping rifle or shotgun. Jay
