  1. I'd be against it. I usually have the chance to shoot 1 - 3 gun match per month. (until DPMS just got shut down). I would not want to spend additional match time and ammo trying to shoot some type of classifier. On our normal 1 day matches difficult stages are set up in hopes of assisting us in raising our own bars for when the big matches are attended. I spend enough time shooting USPSA weekday matches that have classifiers every other week. Just not enough time to shoot classifiers for 2 other guns. Something to think about. If passed would a person have to have the classifications to attend a multi-gun Nationals in the future. Some locations only have Outlaw matches available. Opinion of 1 Jay
  2. Three gunners, I spoke with the Sherburn Co. Att. today as well as leaving other calls with some on the board. The Co. Att. told me that my concerns will be place IN THE FILE and used if I email them. They are having the meeting this Thursday Aug 19. If You can PLEASE Email your support Of Del-Tone/Luth Range to Marc.Schneider@co.sherburne.mn.us Thank You For updates on the matter check http://www.del-tone-luth.com/
  3. I have a Rock River with a 2 stage and it is not noticeable. Jay
  4. It's great to get a phone call from your shooting partner while your on vacation with the family to be told that the match is canceled. Nothing like a little cheer to keep the relaxation going. I am extremely disappointed that this has been the outcome. My gut says that the timing is quite suspicious. Lea, please keep us posted on the outcome of each of the meetings. Randy and DPMS have my support. Del-Tone/Luth is my home range and primary training ground for 3 gun which also means it is the primary location where I improve my law enforcement skills. Good Luck, Randy. Jay
  5. Looks like there is a snowball rolling. I will pass this info on to those who run our monthly matches held at the DPMS range. Iron shooters are not well represented anymore at our monthly match. Thanks to you PIONEERS. I will say that I recently had the opportunity to shoot a 4moa aimpoint side by side with my iron sights at 100 yards and (well those folks can keep their aimpoints and eotechs). Thanks Jay
  6. The real difference is in the retention device. It becomes noticeable when you are trying to really get smooth and fast with your reloads. I tried some of the Otto's recently, I currently use the CCW's and bought them due to the price about 4 years ago. When you grab and strip them fast out of the CCW's each shell bounces of the 2 retaining wires and can cause some fumbling and a dropped shell every now and them when trying to move quickly. The Otto's and Progressive don't have this issue and when you grab them, they come off real smooth. Almost too smooth for a guy used to the CCW's. The CCW's have served me well at their price. HERE I AM, ANOTHER 3 GUNNER WHO IS GOING TO BE RE-BUYING / UPGRADING A PRODUCT. Jay
  7. I hate slugs. They leave a slime on everything. Craig You have to fry them in butter first. Jay
  8. Kelly, I don't know you but I think we would get along very well. A little off to the side but a fun post Jay
  9. I was just looking at the Safariland case as I have one of their certificates in hand. Looks like Optics Plant sells it as model 4552 for $89. Jay
  10. If your work belt is a large width, 2 1/4" and you have removed the parts from your blade techs that make them smaller then an Eagle or Blackhawk nylon duty belt works. I use one in conjunction with all blade tech locks on holdter, pistol and rifle mag pouches and california comp works speed strippers. If you have some of the cali speed strippers that metal buckle on the back is sized for a 2 1/4 incher. I wear it like a work belt with a liner and belt keepers. My Eagle secures via velcro and then a locking buckle. I like that the belt is large width and stiff. Jay
  11. Jesse, That stage looked fun. I usually prefer to go right to left regardless of distance but it is all stage dependant. When shooting prone I find it a little easier to pivot to the LEFT on left elbow. (right handed shooter). When going to the left the right elbow moves forward, when going to the right the right elbow has to move to the rear. It looked like there was some pretty good separtation between target arays. Thanks for the post, this really made me think about what I do and how I want to run my stages. Jay
  12. Of course I'm in. Lea, Could Randy and his att. use a petition. I'm sure we can get plenty of names if we spread the word out further than the DPMS MATCH announcement.
  13. I'll go one step further. If you find a good deal on one with a 26" barrell grab it. That's what I have been using from the start. I have a plus 7 nordic tube which will allow 10 total in the tube. My tube sticks out about 2/3 of an inch past my barrell. Never had an issue with length. Jay
  14. Sent in app at the end of June, My check has not been cashed as of yet. Jay
  15. I'm sure a few will say the "Ben, Look at me" comment was cocky as heck. But that was just some good clean shooting fun.
  16. Mike, Great job handling the situation delt to you. Having the desire to compete against Kelly in elimination? I took a competition handgun class from you last year and as a result was not suprised that you wanted to go up against the best. That is a testament to you. It is probably the pesonallity/competator disorder that most of us on this forum share. Great Job representing yourself. I'm looking forward to the book. Jay Schmitt.
  17. Link and letter. http://www.del-tone-luth.com/ Friends of Del-Tone; On June 8th I was informed by the Zoning dept of Sherburne County that we are in violation of our 1995 Conditional Use Permit (CUP) that was initiated before I purchased the Gun Range in 2002, that CUP allowed for Del-Tone to operate a Rifle range /gun club/range. The county has taken the position that the CUP does not allow for Handguns to be shot on the range even though they have known for years /decades that handguns have been always used at Del-Tone.I have retained an attorney to assist in this matter and to resolve the issue as soon as possible. In the meantime , with regret , we must abide by the order and disallow all handgun shooting until further notice. Rifles and shot guns are still allowed on the various ranges, just handguns/pistols/revolvers are not allowed until we can sort it out. I would ask for your patience and support ,as this issue moves forward, I would also hope that you can support me at the township meetings and County Board hearings as we try to get the CUP revised for handguns. I apologize for this course of action but we have no choice at this point, I will keep you advised through our website , letters and by all means please feel free to call the clubhouse. Regards Randy Luth President Del-Tone/Luth Gun Range
  18. The blade tech molds very well with a little heat applied. use your oven or a heat gun. Oven at about 200 degrees. Once the kadet fits all you will probably have to do is tighten the screws so your comp gun fits. I/m working on getting a kadet and will have to deal with this soon. I have remolded other items in the past. Jay
  19. Are you shooting tac-irons? If so that just puts me one more down the place of finish list. Dang. Craig Craig, I have to, I don't own a scope. Jay
  20. I was taking a look at a few shots in slow motion from video we shot on stage 7. I used a mix of the heavy doves and STS's. The heavy doves would fire and then the bolt would cycle and I was getting flames out the ejection port and shell opening. Didn't appear that the powder was burning off in time. I would wager that was where my malfunction stemmed from in 2 later stages. I just need what works in my gun. Jay
  21. WOW!!!! We got us a good old grudge match in the makings between Jomar and JJ. Look out He-men. I sure am glad I'll be on hand to witness it go down real time. Schmitty
  22. The FN match was great. I bought a few boxes of Rem Surshot heavy dove in 7 1/2 at 1255fps and a Rem STS Handi 7 1/2 at 1235fps. I went with a modified choke which proved to be more than adequate. The mod was knocking the 3 inch steel plates way the heck off their stands. I shot my last stage of day 1 ( stage 8) with the heavy dove and had a fail to chamber with a round. I cleaned the gun that night and then had 2 more fail to chamber on my first stage of day 2 (stage 9). These were the only 2 stages I shot with the heavy dove. I switched to the STS and it ran flawlessly through my Benelli for 4 more stages. I will say that a guy on my squad had a gun with a fixed IC choke and had a few problems knocking some of the 6 inch steel over. The 7 1/2 with the modified was more than adequate. Lesson learened on the type of shells as well. I won't be buying anymore heavy dove loads. The STS are better built. Jay
