  1. Type it in to you tube. Basically you shoot the whole forward shell case and full shot cup down the bore together as 1 projectile.
  2. I don't know, I thought the shows on Heavy Metal were pretty good.... Maybe local matches will have a little better participation in HM now. It was the character they picked to shoot HM. I think they were hired actors because they were not believable as shooters. +1 and I thought they would have picked someone taller.
  3. And irons and heavy metal. Is Shot Show sticking with Vegas from now on. I thought they did Orlando every other year(just what I had heard in the past)
  4. St. Cloud MN, at the Del Tone / Luth range. Former home to the DPMS Tri Gun Challenge,
  5. Try using ABS, you will find the same properties as kydex at a much reduced price. Kydex claim to fame is the anti UV additive for things that have lots of exposure to the sun over time. nice looking home builds. Jay
  6. There is quite a bit of agreement that this has been a great idea. This is however still an idea because apparently we have no data to support it. Out of 30 shooters at match Z, did we have 5 shooters with 1X or 25. With all this agreement are we in agreement to attempt to put a number to it. A simple addition to the registration forms or registration at the match. Iron or 1X. If someone wanted to break it down to the manufacture of the 1X that's fine but the raw numbers is of interest to me. Heck you could gather alot of info on equipment if for all classes you had people denote what guns and scopes they were using. All that data can be crunched months after the match. Jay
  7. I have one as well but it does not give me a final percentage. It will give say a score of 400 for a win on all 4 stages. But will not break down to a 100 percent for the winner and break down from there. I will have to take a look into EZ Win. Jay
  8. the shavers drop to about a .02 or so. A couple are so thin they play tricks on the eyes.
  9. Brownells is also carrying a JP PSC-11 side charging upper receiver. This is the dual, with the side and redundant T handle. Jay
  10. I agree that from the other topics on this issue that "adding more shooters" was the goal. That being directly related to moving 1X to TI and providing them a new home. I think 75 percent sounds rather high, but then again I have no way of knowing other that what people seem to have as a general "guess". I am under no illusion that 1X is probably here to stay. I was relatively sure of that right from the start. However it was discussed at length about how it was going to be tried. So I state it again, It was tried, what were the results. Knowing that a couple skilled shooters placed high with 1x tells me nothing. Same as when when an iron sight guy shoots irons in TO and places high. It only reaffirms to me the high level of skill. Jay
  11. Some good points made about the cash incentive to move to TI. This will affect only a few people. Same goes for increasing the competion to the guy who is in the end the winner. Did 1X bring bodies into the major matches in the last year and a half. I know that local matches are having showings of 1X. Looking back to 2008 at DPMS Tri Gun. 36 shooters for TI shooting iron sights. You had Kurt M, Robby J, Bruce P, Ted P, and many others shooting TI. Was it because there was 4K to the winner of each division. Was it because of a deep prize table offered to all divisions. If having a small group of upper level TO shooters move to, What is it called, Tac-Open, increases what has been spoken of as a lesser prize table, takes that and balances it then I think that is good. I guess I would like to know who is shooting what. Many of you don;t know me or what I shoot. It is obviouse now however. But If I were at a match with Lead Head and I did;t know him how would I know what I shot against. I really like what MarkCO has listed and crossed out. Some sort of crazy Handicapp. How about declaring you equipment on the registration. JP Rifle irons sights, DPMS 3G1 with Prismatic. Jay
  12. There have been to my estimate about 15 major matches held since the adoption of 1X optics in "limited", since late summer of 2010. I have read most of threads on the topic. What I would like to know is what was the breakdown of irons vs dots. I shot Blue Ridge, Midwest and Ozarks in 2011. None of which had the competator declare sighting system. Something new was tried. I, and I imagine others, would like to know if it brought an influx of shooters to the division? Was it worthwile? I know a few TO guys made the move to shoot with 1X and did very well. I can kinda figure that out by looking at the top 5 results. After that I am stumped. Has anyone gathered numbers? I do not care to revisite all of the debated points of iron vs 1X in this topic. Jay
  13. Most here have pretty thick skin, those who don't, well. I would say after 30 years it is definitely time to get some more competitions on your busy scheduled and an tailor off on the other end, where they shoot back. That is my goal someday anyway. Jay
  14. I started using the Globe front last year. The rear on JP's page is a DPMS. It is one of the very few items that is not a custom design. Jay
  15. You definitly can open up the top holes. Send Brian Payne a pm on this. He side tapped one on the right side and then opened up the top right rear. Jay
  16. Go with the 18". You won't notice the extra 2. Even with the heat sink it will still be one of the lightest rifles on the front end. It will be very well balanced. Consider, your training to determine if you want the sidecharger. I have muscle memory built to go directly to the T handle, it is something to consider. Jay
  17. Every match I attend I meet someone from another state. I have always had exceptional people to shoot with, Some where great shooters, all were great people. From a personal standpoint I understand the supersquad, but as a shooter who wants to get better I understand that just squadding with some other good shooters will help me raise my own bar. As to the long range topic, my opinion as a dying iron sight shooter is that anything past 400 if used needs to be a good size target, both for hit-ability and ability to locate in various light and weather. I guess my previous statement would be suggesting greater than 4 moa. Being able to judge wind values in a speed competition removes the game to precision rifle. Having a target that will allow for a bit of wind drift on the bullet allows for negligible compensation from the shooter. As has been stated over and over on Enos forum, the fastest shooter will still hit the target the fastest. Merry Christmas to all you shooters out there. Jay
  18. I liked DPMS's squadding where the major players were spread amongst all the squads, without a super squad. It does great things for new shooters to be squadded with seasoned competators, especially those that are willing to offer there experience's and therefore help grow the next group of shooters. Jay
  19. The Rolling Thunder's length is just fine. "That guy" was probably looking at overall length which exceeds 3 inches. You don't measure the threads. Take your measurement from the crown forward. Jay
  20. Kurt Miller and Pat Kelley for being the dominant iron gurues. Eddie Rhodes, what more needs to be said. Jay
  21. Comps are just going to throw more flame. I would suggest buying what you believe is the best comp for normal competition and then get a smith vortex and swap out for shooting at night ( not suggesting changing up during a match). Jay
  22. Others prior, dpms heavy and a rock river heavy. Those feel real awkward now after using the JP. The ballance is outstading. Current JP Supermatch™ Barrel Chamber: .223 Length: 18" Gas system: rifle-length Twist: 1:8 button rifled Contour: .650 under hand guard/.875 in front of gas block Diameter at gas block: .936 Muzzle threads: 1/2-28tpi Crown: 11 degree Material: 416 Stainless Weight: 35oz I run a standard JP rifle length tube. Jay
  23. I shoot a CTR02 and have heat sink added on. It gets hot but the sink seems to cool it at a faster rate. The supermatch barrels are also cryo treated. JP's are purpose built. As for warrenty. Take a look at the website. I'll quote him here, "I also have a rather old fashioned idea about "customer satisfaction." You'll notice that we don't have any fancy fine print guarantees with our products. My policy is simple: if you're not happy, I'm not happy. I only guarantee one thing, your satisfaction. Ask one of our customers. They're our best salespeople." Good Shooting! John Paul President JP Enterprises, Inc." Jay
