  1. According to a well know Gunsmith whose last name starts with a 'B' the bullet jump to the lands and grooves would cause extremely fast barrel wear and dangerous conditions. I asked because I wanted to shoot 9mm for steel out of my 38 SC, so not recommended.
  2. This sure sounds like a gunsmith question which is not me, but here goes my 2 cents! The tight tolerance of the locked breech allows the pistol to replicate the previous shot fired, hence greater accuracy. That is typically handled by the slide to barrel fit in a Glock, which is why "fitted" barrels produce better groups in Glocks. I agree with the other in that the recoil spring would have no noticeable impact on lock time.
  3. +A on Brandon and SVI's customer service! I just ordered the 5.4" Limited gun to go with my 5" SV's and my IMM Open gun. I was't sure about the balance of the 6" so I split the difference and the 5.5" which will be legal by the next shooting season.
  4. I'll take 4,000 of the .40 if you have any left? Just let me know where to send the payment.

    Thanks,

    Ralph

    5" 625 Barrel

    Midway also sells them!
  6. I just purchased a Model 610 and have the following to report. I load my .40 cal long 1.24 which is very simular to my 10 mm factory loads and have not seen any change in accuracy between the two loads. The .40's definitely make for an easier follow-up shot. I use the .40 for Steel and 10mm for carry, oh yet 2.5" barrel.
  7. Oh, it is so worth it! Congrats!
  8. I have 2 9mm SS and just love the way they shoot. Primary shoot Steel, but will be shooting SS minor next year for fun.
  9. You've got to shoot a few hundreds rounds through it to break it in.

    S&W 1911

Buy with confidence! I have 2 full size S&W 1911's and a scandium commander that are fantastic shooters and have been 100% reliable. For the guy getting the brass back in the head, that is an ejector tuning issue.
  11. I have an SVI IMM Open gun with 2 port comp and 4 blow holes. I run the OAL at 1.235 - 1.240 to prevent dragging on the mags. I use 10.4g 3N38, WSP, 121 IFP Montana Golds and a crip at .378 and get 171 PF consistently at matches around the country. Have fun!
  12. Actually ITW is the Parent company, the company I work for. I'll get some samples when I get back from Europe this week.
  13. I have an all Stain steel SV with the new version grip fully loaded I will sell for $2,400 with 1x 140mm mag. Full dust cover, AET, sight tracker, send me an email and I can send pictures. The gun is 1 year old build by SV (Brandon) and has less than 3,000 rounds. I started shooting Open and it is collecting dust. The price is firm, let me know.

  14. OAL on my guns is between 1.235 - 1.24, but it depends on how the barrel was cut. Don't know about the Autocomp.
  15. I've bought and sold more than a dozen guns on Gunbroker without incident. Recommended!
  16. I have followed the instructions on my 2 JP rifles and they still shoot tiny groups years later. Is time the issue, really... after you spent that much on a JP?
  17. Brian - We would love to have you conduct a training class in conjunction with the Ohio Sectional, then you could write off the whole trip!
  18. Excellent pre-planning and coordination with the other big matches! I wish others would follow your lead!
  19. It has been said already, it depends on how serious ($) you want to get or are in it today! I have a Ruger MkIII, S&W Model 41 and a Marvel 1911 top end. The Marvel and M41 are serious shooters and very good for bullseye. The Ruger is fun and really good for USPSA, Steel Plate, bowling pin practice or plinking. I have a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite on the Ruger, also good fun. I hope this helps you in your quest.
  20. +1 for Bedell! I have a Bedell Shorty in 38SC that runs like a champ! Dan communicates well and is reasonably priced.
  21. You have to duplicate the conditions (coffin etc) to expect the same results. My PF was within one point between Area 5 and the Ohio Sectional.
  22. I have to admit when I heard the storm at 7:00 am I turned off the alarm and went back to sleep. I had enough rain the previous week at A5 to last me a few months. I was pissed by noon when the sun came out so I went downstairs and dryfired and made bullets.
  23. I have 2 stock SV big sticks with standard SV springs, followers and 3 mm base pads and get 29 rounds reloadable. I just purchased the new aluminum followers from SV and can squeeze 30 into one of the mags and only 29 in the other. It is a rare occasion I will load 29+1.
