  1. Granny - you don't have to reload, just find the right production ammo to be legal for the division you want to shoot. All sports have to have rules for all the reasons everyone identified above. Have fun and don't worry about the reloading!
  2. I didn't pay that much attention to it over the course of 3 days and only 3 not making minor. I was more interested in the folks shooting 185 PF in production (Glock 21SF and G35)!
  3. Well, as one of the Chrono guys at the Ohio Sectional I can tell you we were sad for the 3 people who went sub-minor at the match. From my prior experiences as "a chrono guy", the people shooting Remington UMC ammo alway have problems. Add a short barrel gun and several other brands can be added to the list. My 2 cents is along the lines of Aztecdriver's, a person should be prepared for the level of match they plan to shoot. I went minor my first Level II because I didn't have a chrono (I was shooting limited with a Glock 35). Ranger - The rules are there to make sure everyone, everywhere has the same playing field. The new folks that like the Level I matches and plan to shoot a Level II or III match should get their gun/ammo combo checked before the match, they owe it to themselves.
  4. I originally had the problem with my STI 9mm 1911, but once I went to a longer OAL (i will have to check when I get home) the problem went away.
  5. Congrats Kev! Me too except Xavier University
  6. Thanks for sharing! Now to do this with a G10 mica grip.
  7. I'll have my guys start saving them for the club, however I will need pick up help. I should be able to get a dozen or 2 before the match.
  8. That is what happened to my Vette and my bike, but after 20 years I am finally getting another bike! Congrats!
  9. I've had 2 SV and 1 Bedell built and all took less then 9 months and all were well worth the wait. I do strongly recommend buying a gun from someone who has been building them for a while. Just because someone is popular or knows how to shoot doesn't make them a qualified (read trained) gunsmith.

Your getting a new blaster, sweet!

  11. I use VV powder and plated bullets and my cost is around .10 cent per round. You can go cheaper with powders and bullets and I know a GM that does and does well.
  12. Your original question was what makes a $10K Open gun better than a $3K gun - my guess is the person pulling the trigger. That of course could go in reverse, with the $3K gun being better. Just my .02$
  13. If your just plinking and not competing buy 115's you get more shots for you money!
  14. Thanks for the ride offers everyone, I'm set! Cheers!
  15. Is it pretty easy to buy you way into someone rental car or should I just rent one of my own? This is my 1st National (Squad 17) and looking to split the car cost with someone shooting on the same time frame.
  16. I have both and prefer the ball dent. After the Open Nationals I will be converting my primary gun to a ball dent to hold the slide racker.
  17. I had the exact problem and determined it was the extractor. I replaced the extractor in the middle of a match and the problem was gone!
  18. I run 10.1 gr. 3N38 with 121 gr. MTG bullets at 1.24 OAL in my shorty and get 171 PF. NOTE: 165 PF is necessary for Major if you are shooting in the U.S.
