  1. I also use the 165s for major as well. That load is just for my Edge. I would rather just use one bullet for everything.
  2. I just chronoed some 40 minor loads for my Glock 35 today (stock barrel). I haven't really seen any minor loads for 165 here and a few people locally asked what I was shooting so I figured I would post this. 165 FMJ from precision delta loaded to 1.135 oal. 4.3 grains of tite group with CCI small pistol primers in mixed brass. 60 degrees and sunny. I may knock it down to 4.2 or 4.1. average velocity was 876 for an average PF of 144. The load seemed accurate enough to put 5 in the upper A/B offhand at 25 without a problem. About a 3-3.5 inch group which isn't bad for me at all. The load still shot soft but not as soft as some of my old 180 grain minor loads. The difference was really hard to tell, for me anyway. The slide felt a little quicker with the 165s comparing the loads but there was no difference on the clock for splits or transitions comparing the 2. I will work up a load for 165 zeros that I just got for the season and post a difference if there is any. Brian
  3. A friend of mine asked me about USPSA once and wanted advice. My wife responded that if he wanted to spend a lot of money and spend a lot of time away from his family then USPSA is the place! I started laughing (this was right after she found out that I got a new Limited Gun) Sounds like your pretty well set. Stick with production and build that solid foundation! IMO, Once you can accurately call your shots is when you will see your biggest improvement! Once you settle in and get classified, find someone that is a little better than you and set a goal of beating them. Then pick someone else to go after! (I use to be pretty competitive if you can not tell) Dryfire can help with just about everything but recoil management as long as you are completely honest with what you see. Brian
  4. Deacon, I think you made the right call with how you described it. It is possible that it was missed during the previous shooter but hard to prove. In my experience, a lot of shooters are absolutely sure that they were in a certain spot and called every shot and will describe a run that is completely different than what I just watched. I guess there is the difference of perception. I am not an NROI certified RO but I have ROd hundreds of people for thousands of runs and have never ever seen a perfect double! I have seen many that were slightly oblong and gave it to them thanks to an overlay but never a perfect one. Brian
  5. That was a dirty girl there! The best I could ever manage was maybe 1000 rounds on any one of mine before my OCD took over and I just had to clean them. Congrats on the rapid climb!
  6. Now if we could find some manufacturer to sponsor the FOBUS division. I would have no problem if we got rid of the military and law enforcement category, and I still qualify for one of them. The sad fact is that there is very little participation at major matches from them, unless they do not register to be recognized. Getting rid of the class system and just shooting for overall would detract from the sport and cost us a lot of shooters, IMO. Brian
  7. It might have been a blank and whoever mounted it spaced it like that.
  8. I am sure I can make this one. I will be looking forward to it.
  9. I like that quote Shred! I can only remember maybe 2 or 3 stages that I shot that there really was not much room to do a reload without losing time on a long fieldcourse. The other couple hundred long courses always had a break or 2 that was easy to reload on the move without losing time. The extra round or 2 are extra insurance but as others have said, can create problems. I watched a very good shooter shoot the first 6 and reload to a 29-30 round big stick only to watch it fall out of the gun when he broke his first shot at an Area Match! Ouch!!!!! That same stage was heavy on steel at the end but also had a 30 foot run to the next position. They are nice to have but not really needed most of the time. Brian
  10. I think you made the right choice! I have a 35 for production and have also messed around in Lim and Lim 10 with it and never felt at a disadvantage.
  11. 3,500 rounds of .40 and maybe 5-800rounds of assorted 30-06, 8mm, 7.62x39 and .22s. 4,000 minimum would be my guess.
  12. I have had my 650 for over 2years without any issues. I would go 1050 if you really want it and can afford it but the 650 cranks out a ton of ammo fast. For me the warranty was an issue and that is why I went with the 650. Dillon has done right by me for my old SDB for over 16 years without a question. I already used the warranty for a lost spring and bearing on the 650. Brian
  13. If it is going to be 3 pounds then make it a minimum of 3 pounds for every shot fired and none of the BS about just the first for a course of fire!!!!!! I think that there may be a nice DA/SA in my future after next season. Can I send the BOD a bill for any modifications that have to be made for the 2013 season?????? Brian PS. I just changed all of the lightbulbs in my house. Not for no reason but to fix them before they break!
  14. So I just shot an indoor match and declared limited minor. I also was only shooting with 10 round mags as a further handicap. I noticed that I was shooting considerably slower than usual but the video shows me shooting faster than I thought I was. Accuracy was good overall and that was my primary focus, targets were all in the 12-13 yard range with a fare amount of no shoots. I ended up shooting 1 mike and 1 no shoot on the middle of stage 3 and shot mostly A's throughout all 4 stages. I did notice that what seemed slow to me in the moment was not really that slow at all and the confidence in called shots was much higher. Videos are on my channel. There was a Master Class Limited shooter there (I am only an A class Lim) for me to compare myself to. I just have to wait for the results now to double check minor scoring and points dropped as well as placement overall. I will declare minor again at another indoor match to focus on being an overall more accurate and consistant shooter. Brian
  15. I know what you mean. I have a carry g19 but I always have trouble indexing for competition, when I got my g35 it was a lot more natural feeling than the 19. I attributed it to where the heel bump was. I know that the grips are the same angle but I just point the full size better.
  16. I think I will try this a few times through the off season at some indoor matches. I will play with open or limited minor and try to see if I shoot the same or if there is a more focused mentality. I will also ask the RO to score Ds as mikes! Some of the most fun I had shooting was with my Kahr MK9 shooting production against some pretty good production shooters, I did not do well overall but started to really focus towards the last stage and shot all As with 10 to 13 yard partials, this is the focus that I try to get in every match but only see occasionally. Brian
  17. The spitfire one with the reporter is my favorite, He almost got a free haircut!
  18. It will happen again. Ihave done it a few times at local matches when I was working a lot, be it the timer or board, and then I would have to shoot. I would spend time on making sure of the route through the course and stage visualization that on LMR I would just insert, rack, and holster forgetting about the dot. I think it is easier to do if you constantly play in different divisions like I do.
  19. Coastal areas usually do not flood except for a storm surge. I have sandy soil and am about 2 miles from the ocean and just 1/2 mile from tributaries and we never get flooding. You go another mile or 2 inland and there will be some flooding as the streams rise. Further inland is when it gets really bad during really heavy rains. At least around here.
  20. I think that crossfit is a good regimen but unless you have all of the equipment that is needed for the posted workouts it is a little hard to do. Around here there are a lot of crossfit personal training gyms where you can get 1 on 1 or group formats. The times are not always convenient for everyone but the workouts are effective. The good thing about p90x is that you can do it when you get time, be it earlier or later. If you miss a workout or 2 in a week just be honest and add another week to the calender. You get a band included and can get a pullup bar for a doorframe for $20. It doesn't get much easier than that for required equipment. When the band isn't effective, choke up on it some more, get a heavier band, or get adjustable dumbells. Another good tv program that gets my heart going is kettleworx. routines are half as long as p90x. The form isn't always correct in the videos but that is easily searched. I have found myself cursing at Ryan (the trainer) which is a good thing because I know that I am pushing myself more than I want to. Any activity is better than no activity. I will start back with p90 soon, then maybe try Supreme 90 or insanity. There is also another P90x coming out soon but it looks like it requires some more equipment than the first one. I think i saw some examples on youtube. Brian
  21. we are getting some wicked winds now here in Jersey. I have oak trees across the street that have the tops bent over. Still have power, hopefully it stays that way! Sort of glad that the area 8 match isn't this weekend, I would be shooting it this the morning:) Still have off tomorrow, guess I will have a nice clean up. Good luck to everyone else affected by the storm. Brian
  22. So that is how flex got his post count so high! Racer, The only way to know sure is to record standard drills in a journal/log and write what splits and transitions are for known targets at known differences. I know I shoot a 1911 a little faster than my G35 but the difference is only a few hundredths of a second. Like I said before, different platforms will give you different results. As has been said thousands of time, pick one gun and just stick with it.
  23. Pro chrono pal user here. If I were to buy new I would get the digital! Btw, I have always been within 2 power factor points at major matches or comparing to the ced's at the range with mine right behind the m2.
  24. I just picked up a 35 last year just for production with the option of using it for limited and limited 10. It is arguably the best all around gun for uspsa being competitive in all three!
