  1. I have a semi auto that holds 5 in the tube. I know the +1 will get me to 6 which is where I have to be for legal reasons. Question: does the +1 kit have an end cap that I can put an extension on if I ever shoot 3 gun out of my wonderful sate? Brian
  2. Just tried my M3500. Tried to break it in with 25 OO buck, 10 3" Magnum turkey loads and 5 slugs. Then I went to 3 boxes of bird shot. The slugs shot a little low at first but my cheek was really low on the stock and I only saw half the bead. When I was looking over the barrel it seemed to be poa/poi at about 22 yards. Have to get a few more boxes and try them out. All of the high brass shells worked great. I then went to the Federal Target Load 2 3/4 dram 8 shot at 1145 fps on the box. There were 6 failures to feed between 50 shells and also 2 failures to lock back on last round. All FTFs only needed me to recharge the gun. I also had A box of 3 dram 7.5 shot from Estate that said 1200 fps on the box. All 25 shells fed and ejected fine and also ejected decently out of the gun as opposed to the federals that were about a foot to my right. I will just shoot nothing but the 3 dram 1200fps stuff or better and hope that it continues to like the new diet. Both the Federal and Estate loads were 1 1/8 oz shot. It is amazing what 55 fps can do I guess. The stock tube holds 5 2 3/4 shells in the tube plus I was able to ghost load a shell (as already known). I may order a plus 1 if I can find one, local law limit is 6 max. I may find that with further break in the Federal Target loads will work but for now they will only be for practice. Looking forward to modding the gun and also competing with it. Brian
  3. I have the Odin Works 3 gun barrel. They guarantee sub moa accuracy and I have shot 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch groups from some of my reloads that I worked up. 193 shoots 1-2 inch groups on average through mine. I am looking forwar to trying some 69 to 77 grain to see how it does. Overall I am pleased with it but my previous builds we're all with standard or cheap m4 barrels. Brian
  4. Odin Works 3gun barrel shoots very well on my build.
  5. How does the 3500 do with the low brass bird shot and how do slugs do versus point of aim? Seems locally the 3500 is available so I am interested. Brian
  6. Well I have it mounted on a new upper I just put together. Took it out and am really pleased with its performance. I do not think the end of the barrel moved at all. I am not all that well versed in the world of compensators as I only have experience with a few tactical comps and 1 miculek comp that I thought was awesome. I can not do a fare comparison between the two unless I could go back to back with a similar build but I think it could be comparable to some of the well known comps. Unfortunately it is now pinned in place and I will not get to experiment with clocking it.
  7. Ordered it anyway based on looks alone and the fact that it has a pin hole for my wonderful state. Brian
  8. Uspsa is like a bag of chips, you can not have only 1 match. I am sure I will see you around locally. Brian
  9. Anyone have any experience withy the Fortis RED compensator? I don't know why but I am liking the looks of it.
  10. It has some nice drills in it and some tips as well.
  11. Do you have your head in an upright position? Chinning down and looking up a little could help clear the muffs and get a cheek weld.
  12. I am crimping very slightly with the seating. I just loaded 20 rounds with hornady 55 grain V Max, non connelured. I was able to load a few dummy rounds in the gun 3 times without any change in oal. Hope to get some velocities and accuracy testing and will double chech brass after it is shot. I will take my time and develope loads carefully as I am not as confident with rifle reloading as I am when loading pistol. It just takes a lot more prep but my Garand ammo has been better than the Korean surplus I have shot and the 308s that I loaded and set up on a friends press were as good or better than the cheap 150 grain ammo that he use to buy for his Dads old bolt action. I guess that would be the case with any carefully loaded handloads.
  13. How are they? I Just started to load 223 after loading 30-06 and 308 with Hornady New Dimension dies for a while now. I am happy with the results of the final rounds but was wondering what the consensus was with them? I did have to flip the bullet guide around with the seating stem, someone at the factory must have put it in wrong. I realized it when I was cleaning the die before use. I was low volume loading the 30-06 for a Garand and set up a friends press with the 308 and helped prep and load a few hundred here and there with him. I was just wondering how they will be long term processing a few thousand rounds a year? Brian
  14. I have a 38 super for a 1911, one of the first generation ones that i believe I got in the late 90s. I had a few failures to feed after hundreds of rounds. A 5 minute cleaning and re lubing got it back and never had another issue. Accuracy: hits clay pigeons at 100 yards consistent with an old pdp3 (8 min dot ?) My old major 38sc velocity was bumped up to 1750 fps. I do not remember if it was 7625 or n350 though. I doubt factory 9mm will see 300+ fps but maybe an extra 100 or so. It is strange hearing the stock vibrate like a tuning fork when you fire it. It is not uncomfortable to shoot but not comfortable either. It will not lock back on last round fired but you can manually lock it open. I haven't shot it in awhile but I think it is worth the money spent. They have better accessories now and if I could do it again I would get the Glock kit, which wasn't out when I got mine. I almost forgot I had it. I may have to bring it out when the weather breaks. Brian
  15. I did a quick mount to eyeball level the scope. I was surprised the bell clears the MBUS. The MBUS will not be useable while the scope is mounted but it is nice that it can stay on. I still do not have a problem with the push button switch for the reticle, but I guess it may wear out and become more difficult. To tell the truth I do not even think I will use the illumination that often. I will mount it on an M&P 15 sport (neutered version ). I hope to build a proper upper for it and already started buying tools for same. Once I am sure I have the scope truly leveled, and the weather is a little nicer I will take it to the range and have fun. I just have to look for 3 gun matches that are drive able to. Glockster35, I appreciate the offer and PMed you on same. Looking forward to getting my feet wet in the sport. Now I just have to get a decent shotgun, and carriers, ammo, ar pouches, cart, more ammo, etc. I should probably turn back and save a whole lot of money right now shouldn't i? Ha ha. Brian
  16. I didn't want to start a new thread on a topic that is probably beat to death to some. After reading about scopes for possible 3 gun and just fun at the range I settled on a 1-4 scope. I was looking for a good deal for an MTAC but came across a new TAC30 for under $240. I already had the standard PEPR mount from a sale at Midway. After reading some recommendations here from some accomplished shooters I figured I couldn't really go wrong with it. I received the TAC30 today and I am impressed. It seems extremely well put together and the glass seems really clear to me ( I really only have experience with dot scopes and cheaper riflescopes). The push button switch did not seem that hard to use at all and I was able to get it lighter or brighter fairly easily. The center dot does not seem that large to me, but I am use to 6 and 8 moa dots. I am looking forward to a nice day to get away and site her in. Questions! The standard PEPR mount, will it maintain a close enough zero if I take it off the rail and then reinstall it to get some irons in? Do I need to locktite the scope rings on top of the scope? It seems that with 3 on each side I can set enough tension to each screw so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Brian
  17. I set a start date for right after Christmas. I have to get the holiday, egg nog and home made pies out of my system! Looking forward to getting back on the wagon!
  18. 7625 burns the cleanest in my opinion, 350 is not far behind though. My old favorite was Win 540 but I haven't seen it in more than 12 years, I believe this is what HS-6 has now become. It was dirty as anything at the new PF but was acceptably clean at 180-182 PF.
  19. Grip safety is most likely pinned or disengaged which is common on most open guns. Sorry I can help with who built it but she looks nice. The comp looks like a standard bedell, egw or millenium configured comp. hard to tell because so many have made that comp style or similar.
  20. Once a year whether I shoot it or not! Usually after every match I would clean the open blaster.
  21. With the BBIs load a little shorter and it may solve the clambering issues. Not all bullet shapes are the same, even when they look it there can be differences. I would just jump it down to 1.80 and try a hundred with mixed brass and see how it works for you.
  22. All you need any gun to do is be reliable and have decent accuracy for uspsa. A lot of reliability does come down to ammo, a lot of people do not really pay attention when they are loading. A decent trigger job with a reliable running edge, eagle, or even para can win any match! It just might not look as nice doing it.
