  1. Wow, I can't believe someone put this together and thought it was a good idea. Going to stick to the OP and not delve into the other open Glock discussions. Others have already mentioned and I'll add a few more: Rear sight but no front sight Extended slide stop (at least for me doesn't work) Non-extended mag release Airsoft quality optics mount NCStar red dot Threaded barrel but no comp. Barrel not appropriate size Horrendous beavertail Looks like a plastic magwell Pretty much every change the owner did to that Glock.
  2. I'm not sure where you can get the Dueck sights for $90 as stated in your OP. They run about $238. I agree with the other posts above, check out a Stag 3G $1250, DPMS 3G1 $1050, Loki Weapons Sys $1250 starting, Burris MTAC $400, PEPR mount $70 ($90 for QD) and that'll put you a little above $1700. And change what doesn't fit for you. Would this be your first AR or do you already have an AR? If you already have an AR, shoot it in a couple local 3 gun matches and figure out what fits you. You can ask to try out other competitors guns, usually everyone is excited to tell you about their rifle. Especially if you want the Dueck sights, try shooting with them, some people just don't like shooting with the rifle canted like that, others shoot it fine. The MTAC has a pretty close to 1x perfect for hoser stages. I started with the first AR I built, a 16" mid-length and shot it alot and figure out what worked for me. But to answer your question, the cheapest lower I've found is Palmetto State Armory, $79 but occasionally goes on sale for $49. For the barrel, I've heard excellent things about the Loki Weapons Sys 18" stainless $319 but probably best to get a whole upper but that'll put you over budget already. It's $720 for the Loki 3 gun upper and I think $600 for the Stag 3G upper. Don't forget ammo, lots and lots of ammo. Or reloading components.
  3. I run a C-more on my Ruger 22/45 with an allchin mount and it's ran fine with no ejection issues.
  4. A 10-32 machined qd sling/bipod stud works for me, screwed in to the threaded vacant hole one each side of the barrel/mag tube clamp in the front, and the built in hole in the bottom of the stock in the back. Will work with any sling that has uncle mike type attachments. Brownells sells the stud for $.99 * 100-005-267WB * Bipod/Sling Stud * Mfr. Part: YHM262 The built-in hole in the bottom of the stock isn't threaded. Is the bipod/sling stud long enough to put a lock nut at the end? Thanks.
  5. I'm in the same boat. I called Mossberg Customer Service, they want to know the serial number of the my 930 JM. After I gave it to the CS rep, he tells me he can't sell me a spare carrier (Mossberg's term for the lifter) because the JM series is new, they aren't selling parts for it yet. I would rather send a spare lifter to C Rums and have the original handy just in case. Anyone tried a regular 930 lifter in their JM series?

    agrip

Tried Agrip, it was OK. I've tried TruGrip by Eric Wesselman and Gorilla Grip. I used to swear by TruGrips but Gorilla Grips lasts longer and not as gritty as TruGrips. Can't go wrong with either. Still have TruGrips on my G35 Limited and G17 and Gorilla Grips on my G34 which is what I shoot most now-a-days. Agrips might be more useful if using for a carry concealed weapon as it's not as harsh when rubbed against your skin.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions. The follower I think is aluminum, some kind of metal. The spring end is flat but I remember reading a thread on here about having the spring end bent up??? Think it was in regards to a 930SPX. I'll try to put a bevel on the inside edge of the factory tube and the outside edge of the follower.
  8. Yes I've removed the end cap, placed in all 8 shells in the tube with no problem. Even watched the follower advance pass the junction of the magazine tube and Nordic extension by removing the end cap and spring, leaving the follower in the bottom, and loading the tube with 8 shells and it didn't hang up. I've now tried several types of ammo and it still won't load pass 5 shells. All are 2 3/4" shells. I thought it was the follower hanging up at the junction of the magazine tube and the Nordic extension but I can't seem to find where it's hanging up. Also thought it was the spring being too long. I've used extension tubes in my other shotguns but I've never had it hang up this bad.
  9. Picked up my new Mossberg 930 JM Pro 22" yesterday and can't load pass 5 shells. I'm using the weighted dummy rounds from Brownells, if that makes a difference. I opened up the magazine tube, seems like it's smooth between the magazine tube and the tube extension. I called Mossberg, they said to oil at the intersection of the magazine tube and tube extension, tried that and it didn't work. Any recommendations?

    Glock 17 Upgrades

Totally agree with lee blackman's comments. Only thing to add maybe is a good holster. Don't do what I did and buy a cheapo to use first then upgrade later, just get a good one off the bat. Buy lots of ammo or if you reload lots of components.
  11. Good luck with the move and thanks for your service. I grew up in CA but moved to AZ. It's a 180 degree turn in terms of gun laws. Calguns is a good site, a few words of advice. Buy whatever handgun you may want or even consider buying now. It will be almost impossible getting certain handguns. You can legally bring them in. You'll have to read about it in the DOJ website. I thought about moving back and was looking into it a few years back. There are certain stores that are more friendly with CA-legal AR sales. You'll have to ask around. PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) in Fresno is one such and is a great store with helpful staff. I have family in Fresno and visit often, no connection to the store.
  12. Another vote for the HK45. Shot a full size USP awhile back and the grip was too blocky. Hard for me to say that because I primarily shoot Glocks. The grip is what sold me to get the HK45. I wish I tried the HK45c, some people like that grip better. Pointability is about the same for me, bore-axis might be a tad higher on the HK45 but to be honest, don't recall the bore-axis of the USP in my hand. You can always get both. I'm thinking about the USP compact tactical in the Classifieds section but always wanted a CZ for variety.
  13. Agree with Braxton 1. Have KKM drop-ins in my G34 and G35 and its more accurate than me and functions 100%. If you have the barrel fitted you might want to have the chamber spec'ed to your OAL.
  14. Agree with above, definately the recoil spring.
  15. Great pics, very informative. Quick question, what's the round count you have on the stock barrel and the Lone Wolf barrel?
  16. I'm assuming you're getting into Limited as you're finding a magwell for your Gen4 G22. I agree with gaminggoddess with the SJC magwells, really nice, and with the CR Speed belt. I use the regular CR Speed belts (not the super hi-torque). After using a DAA belt, I like belts that are not super thick and stiff. Makes it easier to install your mags and holster. Definately change your rear sight along with your front sight. I use Warren/Sevigny competition with the 0.215 fiber optic front. I have the same sights on my G17, 34, 35. Dawsons are nice too but I stick with the same sights for all my Glocks.

    Glock 34 mods

After a few years of tinkering I went back to a minimalist. Just Warren sights for me. I even changed out the lightened trigger on my G35 I use in Limited so all my Glocks have a similar trigger. Figure it would be easier feeling the same trigger in Production, SSP, Limited, 3G. Just me though, not everyone feels the same way.
  18. Sweet Limited gun. After using a G35 for a few years in Limited, I've been thinking about a 24.
  19. I've had the injection molded ones for years. I do like the versatility but I find I have to fight the pouch when I draw the mag out. I've used it with PMags and USGI mags, works about the same for both. I used to have the Blade-tech injection molded holster for my G17 when I first started USPSA and IDPA, same thing, I hated fighting the holster. For the injection molded holsters/mag pouch, it depends on the angle of my draw. If I drew straight up, would come out clean most times, if my hand was angles, would have to tug at it. Hope it makes sense. If I had to do it over again, would have spent more money for the kydex, particularly the Ready Tactical AR pouches.
  20. I used to shoot a G17 in SSP and USPSA production, moved to a G34 but for some reason, I shoot my G17 better. Maybe its because I've had it much longer. But I assumed I'd shoot the G34 better. I like the G17/34 because of it's low bore axis, I can get a high grip, enhances my recoil control. I guess I'm better with transitions with my G17 because I'm used to the weight already and the shorter barrel makes my transitions a tad faster. Both are great, can't go wrong.
  21. Anyone have picks of the fluted barrel with the handguard removed?
  22. The Stag 3G has a lot of features I'm looking for in a 3 gun rifle. And after my experience with my first AR build, I know I'm not fond of front heavy ARs which is why the fluted barrel and heavier ACS stock would make me pick the Stag 3G over the DPMS. Just a few questions, what charging handle does the 3G come with? And I thought there's an option to purchase the Stag 3G with the Dueck Defense RTS? When you're on the Stag website and place the 3G in your cart, there's no options available. Anyone know how much more it would be with the sights and when it would be available?

    17L or 17

Congrats om your new G17. I started using a 17 in IDPA SSP and USPSA Production then switched to a 34 a few months ago. I assumed I would shoot the 34 better but it hasn't turned out that way. Maybe it's just needing more practice but you can't go wrong with a 17.
  24. I think Lone Wolf makes extended extractors.
  25. I also try to attain a high grip but not that high. The webbing between my thumb and index finger is "squished" under the beavertail of what would be a beavertail on a Glock but never over it. Let me know how it works out.
