  1. Anyone know about the specifications & MSRP of Benelli's Performance Shop 3-gun ready M2? I've read from another thread it'll be out after ShotShow. There's a very short blurb about it on Benelli's webpage and video. Benelli website From 3-Gun Nation On the same note, anyone know about the specifications & MSRP of Mossberg's "line of Jerry Miculek Series competition shotguns"? Mossberg press release
  2. Try Midwayusa.com What are you looking for? I saw that MidwayUSA had some Tac Sol Ruger Mark II/III uppers and a few were on sale, that was almost a month ago though.
  3. If you do go with Blade-Tech, don't get the injection molded version, it's way cheaper but you maybe fighting your holster when you attempt to draw. I know because I started off with one. I'm not sure they still make them, I don't see it on their website anymore. For USPSA I've switched to Ready Tactical DOH, it's fast and retains well. Ready Tactical makes a IDPA legal version that could be used for both IDPA and USPSA. At your next match, ask what others are using and see if they'll let you take a look at their rig. The holster that I checked out and wanted was a Kytac but they are difficult to get nowadays. Around my area, Blade-Tech is the most popular, Comp-Tac, Ready Tactical are common too. Don't do what I did and go cheap and plan to upgrade later. Get the one you want.
  4. Lots of great advice. I particularly like the remarks about starting in Steel Challenge or other steel matches. The weekly steel matches near me have rimfire divisions. I'm not saying a 10 year old can't handle 9mm, but you'll be reloading twice as much or buying twice the ammo from now on. I think 22 is the way to go, it's way cheaper, scoring is easier to learn, and hearing the steel clang is fun. If you're wondering, you don't have to knock off the Texas stars or poppers. When his skills improve (and he has a job or learns to reload), move him up to production.
  5. Don't forget Para, the 18-9 retails for $1200. If you just want a steel hi-cap 9mm and want to think outside 1911's, I'd also look hard about CZ. There's a lot of options with CZ and they're way below your $2000 budget. Personally I'd look at the CZ SPO1 shadow, or 75 longslide, they have singl-action models too if that's why you wanted a 1911. You can get Mec-Gar 19 round mags for $29 at gregcotellc.com Don't get me wrong, I love 1911's especially the STI's DWFAN recommended, but CZ's are also outstanding at a lower price. Too many great guns, too little time and money. Good luck in your decision, hard to go wrong.
  6. I know some people use Airsoft for practice and I respect that and I even thought about it. But I hate trying to find a review of a gun part (especially MagPul products) that it's coming from a 14 year old Airsoft shooter. This happened on numerous occasions during my last AR build and now I'm thinking about starting my next build for 3-gun, I know I need to find another source of reviews.
  7. Forgot to add, if you decide you don't like a Glock open gun, you can change it to fit Limited specs or to Production depending on what your base gun is.
  8. Do you have a Limited rig already? If you do, you can save some money for the holster, belt, and mag pouches and get the same platform. Howevever, I agree with the others saying buy once and get what you want. If you have patience, wait until a used version of what you want is for sale. Here's something to think about, since you live in Canada and have a mag-capacity limit of 10, a Glock open gun may not be a bad idea. You won't have to worry about competing against others with 28+ rd big sticks, and if you don't reload, 40 isn't as expensive as 38 super ammo. Jagr, SJC, and Lone Wolf all sell kits or parts to transform a Glock into an open gun. You just have to see what their policies on shipping to Canada are.
  9. One of the old shooting instructors I've taken classes from does what leewhiskey recommends. He also drilled a hole in the side of the brass so he's sure it's the dummy rounds. I use the Tipton dummy rounds, works so far. I also have A-Zooms for my 12 gauge, but my Rem 870 tends to strip the rim of the dummy rounds.
  10. I have a TRP, yes it was like yours, just shoot it. It's one of the tightest fitting guns I have and one of my favorites. You'll get use to racking the slide, it'll be easier with use.
  11. Asking what's the best is pretty subjective to each person. Now for me, I've tried the DAA belt but it's too thick for my liking but I still use it for my Limited rig. It was difficult to get my Ghost holster and DAA mag pouches on there but once it's on it's solid. I like the Ghost holster for Limited but the DAA Racemaster looks sweet. Now for Production I have a CR Speed belt which I like a lot, JR Holster mag pouches, and a Ready Tactical DOH holster. I like my Production rig, took a little while to figure out what I like and what I don't like.
  12. Who in the USPSA organization can I talk/email to address the interpretation of this rule? They changed the interpretation of the mag in the front pocket rule.
  13. I agree with whomever said you're going to go through this "build/improving" phase, I think most Glock shooters goes thru it. For every Glock the first things I do are change the sights (Warren/Sevigny), change to a non-extended slide stop (usually keep an extra around), and slap a TruGrip or other grip tape on. And definitely start shooting it, you'll learn exactly what you want and don't want. I think after you get your guide rod and springs you can start finding a right load. You have a nice plan/set-up for your G22 Limited, would love to see it. Post a pic when you're done. (I can't stand the extended slide stop. I never use it anyways but with my high grip the slide locks after every shot. Use what works with you.)
  14. Run it! I love my HK45, I use it for IDPA at times
  15. I attached the pic, it's a crappy pic but all I have is a camera on my phone. It's a Ready Tactical DOH not a Bladetech Black Ice Trust me, I really wish I knew not to ask Amidon but I asked the general USPSA contact email and he answered. I told him that why isn't it considered as a belt slide holster and he said that it doesn't look anything like a Yaqui slide holster. Sometimes I wish I kept my mouth shout but just didn't want to be turned away at a match because of this.
  16. I sent him a pic with my G34 in the holster and he says it doesn't satisfy the second rule posted above "May not be manufactured or cut lower than, and must cover the slide up to, ½” below the ejection port (belt slide “Yaqui” type holster exempt)"
  17. Update, I emailed USPSA and John Amidon replied saying it's not legal for Production.
  18. I'm in the same boat, I just play with mine. Hoping someone answers your post.
  19. How cheap is cheap to you? That Glock 34 for $525 is a good price. You can easily find used Glock 17's for $380-400 and used Glock 34's for around $500. If you're worried about cost you have to take into account mags, sights, holster, mag pouches, belt etc. I just got a used Glock 34 with Warren/Sevigny fiber optic sights for $525 w 2 mags. But I already had 8 mags for my G17, belt, holster, mag pouches. If you have the time to wait, I'd wait to find one with the sights you already want and anything else you want with it. Search the forums classified, Gunbroker, GunsAmerica if you don't have a problem buying used.
  20. I'm just like GMG, voting for CZ SP01 Shadow but I shoot a Glock 34 for Production, 35 for Limited, and 17 for IDPA SSP. My next handgun will probably be the Shadow. I hope I won't like it too much and spend a boat load of cash on switching platforms.
  21. Have the Ice as well. Like it a lot. Would also look at SJC's and if you're not wanting a big one, JP enterprise and Glockmeister makes nice ones.
  22. Another vote for the Wilderness 5 stitch, been using it for 6-7 years and it's still good to go. They didn't have the polymer lined ones back then. If I was going to buy one today, I'd probably look into the Wilderness polymer lined and the Ares Cobra riggers belt. There's a lot more options nowadays. FYI, I looked on their website to read about the polymer lined belts and noticed the original instructor belt is on sale for $40
  23. My vote is for the 35. I shoot a G35 in Limited and a G17 for Production. I have no problems going back and forth. In my hands, the G35 is perfect for 40. I of course shot both the G22 and 35 before deciding. I recently bought a G34 and may start shooting that for Production but I shot both my G17 and G34 today and still love the 17 for 9mm. My draw is a couple tenths faster with the 17 but I've been using that for 4 years compared to the 1 day I with the 34.
  24. Tried the search function for an answer but I couldn't find anything. Here's my predicament: I bought a Ready Tactical DOH holster from CPWSA (great holster & retailer BTW) for my Glock 17 which I use in Production and Steel, only used once at a match. Recently came across a great deal for a Glock 34 I couldn't pass up. Now I want to use my Ready Tactical DOH holster meant for the Glock 17 for my Glock 34. The front end protrudes about 1". Is it legal to use for USPSA Production? This is from USPSA's 2010 Handgun Rules regarding Production holsters: •Suitable for everyday use. “Race gun” type holster prohibited. •May not be manufactured or cut lower than, and must cover the slide up to, ½” below the ejection port (belt slide “Yaqui” type holster exempt). •Revolver holsters open no lower than halfway down the cylinder. Thanks for your input.
  25. Gen 3 all the way. Just bought my 3rd Gen 3 and happy I did. My reasons I like Gen 3's better are: 1. My hands are about medium size (wear medium Mechanix gloves, large Dewalt gloves) and the grip on the Gen 3's fit the best for me 2. I'm going to put some kind of grip tape on anywreleaseays so the new texturing won't help me. 3. I tend to play with springs so it'll be easier if I have the guide rods on all my Glocks 4. I'm right handed, don't really need an ambi mag mag release
