  1. I wonder if the JP version has a lower profile or if they shave the top off for each custom rifle they build.
  2. Got a response from Loki and they state the clamp-on gas block will fit with their carbon fiber handguards.
  3. Slip 2000's EWL for my AR's and AK, Gun Butter for my handguns. No good reason why I use a different lube for my handguns, it's just something I've been using for years. But Frog Lube has me interested. Going to wait till I use up my EWL and Gun Butter and just consolidate to one lube. Both EWL and Gun Butter stays on well but I do clean my handguns more frequently than my AR's.
  4. Is there a difference between the Syrac clamp-on click adjustable gas block and the Syrac/JP JPGS-SO adjustable gas block? I couldn't find dimensions on the Syrac clamp-on. From JP's sight, the length is 1", width 0.904" http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPGS-SO Here's the product page from MidwayUSA http://www.midwayusa.com/product/321768/syrac-ordnance-click-adjustable-gas-block-ar-15-lr-308-standard-barrel-0750-inside-diameter-clamp-on-low-profile-steel-matte And from CPWSA http://www.cpwsa.com/3_gun_stuff.htm Anyone know if a Syrac clamp-on will fit in a Loki carbon fiber handguard? On another thread, someone said the clamp-on will need an inside diameter of 1.75"
  5. I know this is a little off topic, but how do you like your Rhino? I'm thinking about getting one. And which holster did you end up getting?
  6. Forgot to mention that I have a Safariland ALS as well and I have a slight preference for the Thumbdrive release mechanism. With the ALS, you push the thumb tab towards the rear, with the Thumbdrive, it's more like a down and out motion. The release tab on the Thumbdrive is larger as well. The one thing I don't like about the Safariland ALS holsters is that rotating hood. Haven't tried to remove it but I should. It makes contact with my rear sight. I tried to reform the hood but still makes contact.
  7. Have one for my G17 but don't use it for 3gun as I use my G34 or 35 for 3gun but I like it a lot. Never had a problem drawing, never fought with the holster.
  8. I also don't think there's a thing as too many magazines. I have I think about 20 17rnds for my G17 and G34, a couple 10rnds, a 33rnd. For my AR's I think I have 34 mostly 30rnds, some 20's, some 40's. For my G35 Limited, 4 19/20rnds, 4 15rnds. I even have mags for an M14/M1A and I don't even have one....yet. At $10 each, I would have snagged all of them. You can use the older ones for practice/training, newer ones for matches, and if they have worn out spring put an Arrendondo/TF extension on them with a new spring of course. Uplula loaders are simply awesome. Save your thumbs. Have them for my AR's and AK as well.
  9. When I really started to get into USPSA I used TruGrip which is much more like skate board tape and I've had to change after 1-2 years due to wear, never had a problem with them coming off. The last time I tried buying them, the retailer that I usually purchase my comp shooting stuff stopped carrying TruGrip and started carrying Gorilla Grip. I was wary because I've always used TruGrip, with the exception of the one time I tried AGrip a long time ago which I often forget but that's another story, but I gave in. And now I'm in favor of Gorilla Grip. The texture is a little like the 3M Safety-Walk anti-slip tape but not as rough. They seem to last longer. How much longer, I'm not sure yet. I do use 3M on pretty much everything else, PMags, M&P Shield, Walther P99, etc. The post above has an interesting technique which I might try the next time but I usually don't have a problem with them coming off. I usually wrap the tape around my gun and rubber band, shock-cord, or para-cord in place and leave for a few hours (this is before removing the backing just to get the shape of the grip), then gently heat with a blow-dryer and apply as directed. Then re-wrap and leave overnight. The Gorilla Grips I've ordered didn't have instructions but goes on the same as TruGrips.
  10. Not sure if i have the patience to wait 6-9 months. Anyone thinking about a Colt 901? Interested in what Stag is coming up with and I saw that Colt is coming up with a CR Pro 308 which would be more specific for 3gun.
  11. Sweet. You're luck you got one back in 2010, as far as I know they still haven't released it.
  12. This model sounds interesting, didn't see anything on DPMS's website that fits your rifle. Could you please post a pic?
  13. Had no idea the 308 3G1 was already available. And it's been out for 2 years? I wonder why I haven't seen any reviews or youtube vids. What's the trigger pull and travel? Is it a Miculek comp? Do you mind posting a pic or two? Thanks.
  14. Sorry, should have been more clear, the price is listed on Grabagun.com and Budsgunshop.com but looks like it's still not available.
  15. I've been itching to buy a semi-auto 308 but want to keep the cost around $2000 or under, run an optic on it, use Pmags (SR25/M110 type), primarily used for 3 gun in the future. That pretty much leaves DPMS 3G1 308 and Colt's new 901. There's plenty of T&E reports and youtube vids on the Colt 901 but none on the DPMS. Although the Colt 901's feature to be able to use a 223/5.56 upper on it would be nice, especially when it provides a nice large magwell, it's something I don't really need. The DPMS 3G1 308 is listed for $1303.32 on Grabagun.com and $1349.00 at BudsGunShop.com, while the Colt 901 is estimated to go for around $2000.00. The DPMS 3G1 308 is similar to the 5.56 version, and will have a JP single stage trigger, 18" stainless 1-10", billet lower, at 8.5lbs. The Colt 901 has a 16" heavy barrel 1-12", at 9.4lbs, I don't know the other specs. Has anyone handled a DPMS 3G1 308? Or both? Anyone with recommendations of one over the other?
  16. Glad you found out what's wrong. This is a common occurence. The way I diagnosed it is, I shoot the Glock with an extended slide lock strong hand only. This way I know I'm not touching the slide lock.
  17. Haven't had issues with mine either, using a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm. The only issue, and it's not really an issue, is keeping a consistent placement. I recommend the reinforced model, makes for more efficient practice. I don't have the sweat shield but it provides more contact with skin if you're still concerned about the holster staying up. You can always wear it inside the band of your underwear to maximize contact with skin. IMHO it's worked well without trying to increase contact with skin.
  18. Never had a problem either. Held up with over 2k rounds through them.
  19. Ended up with a Bushnell 1-6.5x Elite Tactical If you have the time, a review would be nice. And if you can post a pics, that would be awesome.
  20. Or just mag springs. Unless you're having problems with your mags and you might want to check the feed lips.
  21. Nice build. I can guarantee you it won't be your last.
  22. Pretty much what I used but I had single mag pouches made by someone from GlockTalk, still works, been using them for 5 years.
  23. If you're also looking for an indoor shooting range for practice, as it was 113 degrees last week, Scottsdale Gun Club, Caswells in Mesa, and Shooter's World in Phoenix. I'm a member at Scottsdale Gun Club so have only been there, nice facility, wait can be long on weekends though.
  24. I would avoid buying from Ebay as you don't know the quality or authenticity of the product and do you really want to have your holster fail during a match? If it's for airsoft, fine, use whatever holster you want. But if I'm shooting a match, I'd rather not have my fellow competitors use cheap knock-offs that can fail. In the end we're responsible for safety and we should be responsible for our equipment. Just to clarify, in case someone isn't familiar with JR Holsters, as I was a year ago. It's a Philippine company that makes competition belts, holsters, mag pouches for IPSC shooters in the Philippines, where IPSC is popular. I was introduced to the brand by Chris Patty, www.CPWSA.com and purchased their mag pouches and have been happy with them. No affiliation with JR Holsters or CPWSA.com, just a customer.
  25. With the TacSol, can you change out the sights? Are they the standard size of a Glock? Steve You can change the sights on the TacSol, same sights for Glocks. Comes with what looks like the OEM Glock plastic sights. My Tac Sol is very picky with ammo. Seems to work best with CCI 40gr standard velocity, not so much with Federal 40gr standard velocity, but got surprisingly good results with the Federal 36gr copper plated HP. Good advice on keeping it clean.
