  1. LOL! I did not say I agreed with it I said that the rule about unsafe gun handling leaves room for an overzealous RO to declare things that are not specifically listed as "unsafe".
  2. Actually, 10.5 does seem to leave some room under the umbrella for what (that RO, anyway) could consider unsafe gun handling:
  3. The closest thing in the rule book is under 8.5 but it really addresses that the safety "should" (not "must") be engaged while moving if not shooting while moving:
  4. Chuck....were any of those bullets hollow point or flat point?
  5. Results posted to http://csrapistol.com Mike Parker…your scoresheet for stage 2 didn’t have a time (we’ll blame that on Sergio). I entered a relatively average time of 100. Thanks to everyone for coming out and doing such a great job of tearing down. It was really appreciated. I did a record little amount for this match. The guys who came out Friday to setup really did most everything. Many thanks to Dewey Hutson, Nick Ortalaza, Mark Gainey, Mark Sullivan, Will Porter, and Jason Grimes.
  6. Sorry for the late notice but tomorrow we are looking at an approximate: 75 rounds of pistol 90 rounds of rifle 60 rounds of birdshot (7.5 or smaller) 4 slugs I did manage to pick up some slugs today so will have extra. If not enough, we will pull a slug target or two. 7. Not to be picky but if you are truly shooting DA/SA then you are decocking it and you do not need to have the safety on. If instead you are shooting it with the hammer back and the safety on, you are not shooting DA/SA......just SA.
  8. If it had been me that was bumped to open on stage X, on the subsequent stages I would have been loading my mags up to capacity and could not have been moved back to Production.
  9. As Frag316 mentioned, 6.2.5.1 supports a move to Open. I see nothing that says a COF to be reshot "never happened". As such, I don't see any reason they could be moved back from Open.
  10. I have seen Arredondo base pads come off but only when the flat insert was used. The one with a vertical piece prevents the base pad from sliding off the mag body unless it is pushed up into the mag itself: Those two different inserts are pictured here: http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/25367/catid/17/Arredondo_S_W_M_P_Mag_Extension_9_40 Also I get +5 in 9 and +4 in 40, not the +6 and +5 claimed.
  11. I have the Arredondos. They are the cheapest but do not work with magwells. I know the TF work with Speed Shooter Specialty magwells, not sure about TT.
  12. All 3 of my Pros had the small sear return spring and 2 of the 3 had fairly consistent problems right out of the box that were never fixed until I got the newer sear housing with the larger return spring. I, too, would be royally pissed but that is not the kind of service I have gotten from them.
  13. I put in my vacation days as soon as I got back last year. I sure hope it happens.
  14. As a little more background, 10.2.2.1 came about based on an NROI Ruling: http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-NROI-ruling-details.php?indx=45
  15. Based on the current design I don't think it would be possible.
  16. I've barely got time to clean my butt, so given the choice...the M&P still runs (and doesn't smell funny) when dirty.
  17. There have been 3 distinct versions of the sear housing block. The first had too small of a sear return spring that would sometimes not be enough to reset the sear resulting in a "dead trigger". The second had a larger sear return spring. The latest have a different design that is supposed to have a more noticable reset (not sure what other changes are present in the latest).
  18. I frequently tell people, "Look, we're keeping score and noone is shooting back...it's a GAME!"
  19. I think this may have been the guy's first match. I don't feel bad about DQing him, I just wish I had discussed it more with him. Another part of my "standard" safety briefing is:
  20. Whatever oil I have handy if/when I do clean it every 10,000 rounds or so.
  21. Kevin and Kevin...we don't have many certified ROs. When we started I don't know that we had any so it was not uncommon for people to be told anything from "Maker her hot" to "Go ahead". This was one of those very infrequent shooters who used to come around years ago. Hopefully my warning will have an impact on future performance. Thanks, Pat...that wording is much better. Tim, LOL yep...I also wash the bottles and pretend to be a welder. That's a good point though because it is mostly just two of us from the club that run it. We should make our roles more clearly defined when we both can be there.
  22. I had to DQ a new competitor this weekend. It was our second stage. We were shooting CM 09-07. We had finished scoring and pasting and I was the last one back. I still hadn't made it to the table when the next shooter walked up, drew his gun, and placed it on the table. I said, "Aww, man...I wish you hadn't done that. Not only am I still downrange but you are not allow to handle your weapon until told "Make Read". I'm sorry but you are done for today." I went ahead and brought the next shooter up and ran him before realizing that I probably needed to have a longer talk with the guy. By the time I got ready he was already gone. We had several new faces there this weekend so I did my normal safety briefing which includes: In the future, if I have to DQ someone, I will hand the timer to another RO so I can go over it with them better. I have had to adjust / add things to my normal safety briefing as a result of mistakes people have made (dropped gun, drawing before turning, etc). I will also be a little more explicit about the gun handling. I did have another shooter reach for his gun before I said anything. I had already cleared the area and was getting ready so I quickly said, "Make Ready" before he got it out. I also let him know that he almost got DQ'd for doing that. Any other suggestions for how you guys handle DQs?
  23. Forgot to add....the spring rod is also offset to the left in the Shield unlike the FS and Compact where it is centered. Even if that stop wasn't on the right side of the frame, reversing it would not work.
  24. Exactly what page did you find helpful in that manual? Even though the design is similar to the Full size and compact M&Ps, there is some extra plastic on the right side that prohibits you from reversing the mag release on the Shield.
