  1. You wouldn't want to drop a full mag on the clock, so don't worry about it.
  2. Cool bag. Looks to be priced reasonably, also. Let us know how it holds up.
  3. Let us know how the classifier goes.
  4. I don't have any experience with the Dawsons, but the Tripps run great in my 9mm Trojan.
  5. Try them all, and decide which one you like best.
  6. I've had a 550 and currently own a 650. The 550 is great, but it will never be as fast as a 650. Since I don't reload because I enjoy it, but because it's a necessity, the 650 was the way to go for me. Caliber conversions are a little more of a hassle, but the time saved while loading makes it worthwhile. The quality of ammo loaded on both is identical, and it's just as easy to look into a case to make sure there's powder in it on the 650 as it is on the 550. Edited to add- whatever you decide on, buy it from Brian. I bought both my presses from him and the service and shipping both times were top notch.
  7. I just posted this in another thread, but it bears repeating. I almost ran out of bullets waiting for my BBI order to ship, so I sent Donnie an email asking for a price list and an estimated ship date. He replied within 10 minutes and told me to call him...at 7:30PM...last Sunday night! The bullets were on my porch on Wednesday.
  8. I was about to run out of bullets while waiting on my BBI order (placed on 5/3) and sent Donnie at Bayou Bullets an email asking for a price list and estimated shipping date. He replied back to me within 10 minutes and said to give him a call...at 7:30PM...last Sunday night!! The bullets were on my porch on Wednesday.
  9. Sig 1911?!? Really?!? Dude...get a Spartan and call it a day.
  10. Looking forward to shooting with you...I make the Arab matches pretty regularly.
  11. I was looking at the Glock 34, you don't like it? It's ok, but I'm at a point where I'm less than intrigued with plastic pistols. I think this weekend I'm gonna be able to test shoot one, we'll see. Anything specific you don't like? Recoil management, trigger etc? The trigger is what I'm most displeased with. It's hard to make one Glock trigger just like another due to the loose tolerances. Mine is mushy, and there's nothing I can do (that won't affect the reliability) to make it anything but.

  13. I'd go with the CZ...in fact I'm considering trading my Glock 34 for one to use in SSP. After shooting a 9mm 1911 in ESP for a while I really like the idea of an all-steel gun for SSP. I wouldn't be too concerned with the traditional DA trigger. You're only gonna have 12 or so double-action pulls through a major match, and the rest are going to be relatively light single-action pulls.
  14. Congrats on your win and bump, Rick. I was less than 2 seconds off the win in ESP EX (and the accompanying bump to Master) at the Masters. I was a little disappointed, but I know my day will come. Hope to bump into you at the Southern Regional.
  15. There is definitely something wrong and you should sell it to me so I can get the problem resolved. We're talking about the PM-9, right? If not, nevermind.
  16. CR Speed belt and Ready Tactical holster and pouches.
  17. I was there! I shoot that match pretty regularly...hope to run into you sometime. Congrats on making it through your first one. They're MUCH easier from now on.
  18. A bullet-proof Course of Fire and stage briefing should eliminate problems such as these. Also, if I'm acting as an SO I will not "argue" the rulebook with a shooter. Make the call, and be prepared to explain why (which means you have to have an intimate understanding of the rulebook), but never engage in an argument.
  19. This. The bump feels better when there's some hardware to go with it.
  20. My 9mm Trojan...used primarily for IDPA ESP and a little Singlestack. The finish is pretty bad and I'm looking forward to having it chromed by APW after the season is over this year.
  21. The staples on the leading stick had come loose...the target was folded back so that it was edgewise when it presented itself to me.
  22. It was good to meet you at the AL, James. I had a reshoot on stage 12 also...my second run was better since I got my mags stowed quicker.
  23. I picked up a $100 gift certificate for APW off the prize table at the AL state IDPA match this weekend. I'm very excited, because even though I love my 9mm Trojan the finish is absolutely terrible and plan to use the gift certificate for hard chroming it. I know hard chrome is a pain to cut through once applied, so I'm going to have a new grip safety fit before it's refinished (current one is very sloppy). Is there anything else I should consider having done before getting it chromed? It's basically stock, except for a Dawson magwell, Brown mag release, and a GI guiderod (had to add it to make weight). Would it be best to have a trigger job done before chroming, or will any of those parts be affected? Should I consider having the slide-frame fit tightened? It's not sloppy, but after about 8,000 rounds I can feel a very slight amount of play. Thanks in advance!
  24. I know a guy that had this happen twice. Any hints on how you do this? I wouldn't mind having that insurance! I removed the yoke screw spring on my 686SSR and replaced it with a paper clip cut to length. Works like a charm, and only cost the time it took to track down a paper clip. That said, I reload with my strong hand.
