Just curious if you have checked out the Stealth Arms Platypus? A double stack 9mm 1911that uses $25 Glock mags. I’ve had 2 custom STI 2011s and my Platty is very close to their quality at a fraction of the cost. I’ve already ordered a second one.
I’ve installed quite a few JG triggers. They all came in around 3 lbs and were terrific. A call to him will probably straighten everything out. He’s a real stand up guy who will help make things right for you.
Hi, if this is a competition gun, ditch the sights, they are going to slow you down. If it’s your EDC, I can see how they might come in handy, otherwise lose them. Hope this helps.
I don’t think that there’s much of a difference. The 17 theoretically should transition more quickly from target to target. I’d consider adding weight to your 17 to help with recoil. A tungsten guide rod, light and thug slug would help a lot. Then you’ll be good to go!
So based on price alone, I know the Fast Fire and Vortex are lower end scopes. My buddy used to have a Fast Fire on his CZ and always had to have a spare while one was being replaced. Once he switched to a Leupold DPP he had no more issues. Another buddy had his Fast Fire replaced twice and he changed over to a Trijicon SRO and no more problems.
My only suggestion would be to purchase a more expensive dot and hope for the best! Hope this helps.
If you go with.the Timney trigger, (a great choice), you might want to buy Johnny Glock’s extra strength return spring, it makes a big difference and is only $6!
