  1. Have you checked to make sure the firing pin spring isn't broken in half?
  2. I'm thinking use longest spring you can as that will be pushing the spring and may have issues keeping up with the action of the gun with the heavier 40 rounds
  3. I try and end with 1 shell left in the gun as I feel I can push it and go a little faster if I know I have one makeup shot in the gun. If it's an odd number of targets and my option loading 2 is go dry or add 2 extra I will usually load the extra if it's a long stage and I can do so without costing time. If the rules say you can't speed unload without aiming at a target and it must be empty I am double tapping the last target I have never been a fan of the no burning the last round rule If the fun must be empty. If it's done safely it should be good. If they set one off where they shouldn't it's a dq
  4. Are you using rifle sights or a bead sight. If it's a bead sight shooting off bags isn't a great way to shoot and see as your eye is the rear sight and if your eye isn't in the same spot it's like your rear sight is moving
  5. But doesn't that ruin the balance? It depends on what you want and like for the balance. For me I prefer a heavier shotgun overall and I don't want it balanced I want if nose heavy. My previous experience is shooting skeet with a heavy k-80 that was so I am use to moving the heavier gun. I tried a benelli before and totally hated it. On the stippling I don't think it's as valuable as with a pistol and don't have mine done
  6. XST is the best in their line. A safariland ALS can be bought and the drop attachmend added in both a medium and low drop. I run an XST for my 6 inch 2011 as they were the only ones with a retention holster for it and an ALS for the glock. If safariland made an ALS for the 6 inch 2011 I would be running that for both them as it has good retention so the gun isn't coming out unless you hit the release and the release is very natural and fast. Whatever the holster a good retention other than simple friction fit is the way to go for 3 gun as you can move and not worry about a gun flying out
  7. While most would give the new shooter a break on some stuff safety rules are one that should never be given a break at all. Ignoring safety is never a good thing. What happens when he drops it 2 stages later and it goes off when he shouldn't have been shooting
  8. I carry 1 mag over what is neede for the stage
  9. Choke and load play a factor but so does centering the pattern where it needs to go. Basically the inner ring of the pattern is tighter than the outer ring. If the hits are in the outer ring it's not near as dense a pattern
  10. Works fine for uspsa but for 3 gun I would look at a retention holster. With the amount if movement we do in 3 gun a retention holster prevents the gun from coming out when running goin prone jumping off or on something snagging it in a prop or buttstock etc. The extra half second or less depending on the holster for a draw in 3 gun is more than made up by not having to hold the pistol when running or worse getting a dq for it falling out
  11. What's considered a big safe. The 24 gun safes aren't bad at all to move even with 90 degree turns if done right. In always if the opinion a couple mid size safes secured down are better that one monster safe. With the monster if it's opened they get everything. With the 2 smaller ones it's twice the work and they are easier to get in the house as well.
  12. I would ask around and try stuff first. The load 2 is much easier and faster to get proficient with than weak hand caddies
  13. The doh isn't bad for uspsa stand and draw stuff but for 3 gun with all the movement we do retention means your not worried about loosing your pistol. A lot of the retention holsters don't slow the draw at all and even the hood ones may add .25-.5 second to the draw which your often doing on the move anyway. Your not winning the 3 gun stages with the fast draw or throwing the gun in a barrel in a full sprint but you can sure loose them that way
  14. I will agree with Jesse on this one. How many Leo even know what 922 is and how many have a clue what to look for or even how to tell. Never heard of it actually being enforced
  15. Cmore is open and dosent obscure the targets
  16. All my mags are unturned and get 20 rounds reloadable with grams followers and springs and a dawson +1 NON SNL base pad and have no issues with the gauge at all as I am not pushing it with the SNL. 21 Can be done with tuning the mag and adding a base pad that takes up all the room in the GA and filing the back of the feed lips. 22 Is possible but those are not common and when you do find one that manages that its very pricy.
  17. The big thing is you have to just practice your index where you can pick the dot up.
  18. This is the basic holster with the ALS. http://m.dillonprecision.com/mcontent/p/9/catid/22/pid/25869/Safariland_Model_6377_ALS_holster_Glock_34_35 If you want it lower you can add something like this or an even lower one. http://www.opticsplanet.com/s/safariland-mid?brand=148&cat=99 Mine is mounted on a low ride with a qls on it so the holster can be removed from the attachment.
  19. He looses more points shooting SS minor? (vs. shooting L-10 minor.) Are you sure you meant to say that? If he's shooting minor, his points are scored the same way - regardless of Division. Respectfully, ac Mean he is loosing more points over the major shooters but he does have 2 extra rounds over the guys shooting major whee in L10 they have the se rounds and he gets scored minor
  20. I say SS as well. In L10 everyone has 10 rounds and he's loosing points at minor with no benefit. In ss he looses more points but has 2 rounds over the major shooters
  21. If your limited to 15 rounds I would just go a single stack 9mm with 10 rounds
  22. ALS is always Locked when you put it in the holster but the way the release works makes for a very quick draw you dot even need to think about and it's the same draw regardless as you simply move your thumb toward the back if the holster a little when grabbing the gun and it comes right out
  23. Durakote looks good but dosent hold up to wear well at all. For guns not used in a holster etc it's fine and has a ton of colors but for any holster guns the cerakote holds up better
  24. I like the safariland holster with the ALS as it's easy and fast to draw and it's not coming out when you don't want it too. I can draw the ALS and don't feel like I'm giving up time using it or very minimal if that For a uspsa only holster I would say get the doh but it offers zero retention for 3 gun other than friction. The wrs has to be started with the strap engaged for production.
  25. They use different screws. Factory steel uses 6/48 screws and the tacsol uses 6/40 screws. You can buy the screws for the scope mount. I run an alchin on mine with the cmore and ordered the 6/40 fillister screws Many a tacsol has been messed up by trying to force the factory screws in. With the right screws and proper degreasing the scope mount is solid
