  1. I have a regular SP-01 and was able to get it to SSP weight just by using the Marschal grips. Can still use the standard SP-01 mags.
  2. I'm loading 9mm Montana Gold 147 grain bullets at 1.110 OAL. Feed fine in my Eagle and my Edge. I load them short so they feed in my CZ SP-01.
  3. Here's my home made stand made from a 6' metal fence post. Raw materials $8.16 plus a little bit of E70S-6 welding wire and C25 gas.
  4. Here's how I put custom background images on our Nooks: Wallpaper: Create a .png file of your image. Name it "wallpaper" (with no file extension). Put that file on the Nook in the "\data\data\com.android.settings\files" directory. Screensaver: Create a .png file of your image. Name it whatever you want, with a ".png" extension. Put that file on the Nook in the "\system\media\screensaver\authors" directory.
  5. Can you do a "walk through" in SketchUp like you can in StageCAD?
  6. Hi Ken, Thanks again for doing this for the USPSA community. Kudos! We've scored a coupe of local matches with the Android version on Nooks now. Overall, very positive experiences. Couple of questions/suggestions: When scoring a shooter, it would seem very useful to have a warning if the scorer tries to exit the shooter with an incomplete (missing time or hits) or improper (e.g., excess hits) score. As it is, we've had to instruct the scorers to be very careful to make sure that the shooter they just scored has a hit factor in the squad list. And the hit factor/scoring status is kinda hard to see for us old timers. A simple warning would be enough, something like "Scoring Error-do you really want to exit?" Also in scoring, it would seem useful to have a button on the bottom of the target scoring screen that would simultaneously save the score and display the "Review score screen." As it is, if the shooter or the scorer wants to review the shooter's score after scoring the targets, you have to go "back" and then "review scores" and then go "back" and then "save" OR "save" which takes you to the squad list, and then redisplay the shooter and hit "review scores" and then hit "back" and then "save" again. The process I suggest is score targets, hit one button that saves the scores and opens the "review scores" window, and then hit a button on that window that takes you back to the squad. Finally, on the "export match stages & scores" function, I'd like to be able to save to the internal file structure because we are not running SD cards in our nooks. For example, the \media\EZWinscore directory is available when the Nook is plugged in the USB port of a Windows computer. We've been using that directory to bring in PSS.txt from EZWinscore already, and it would be handy to be able to transfer back to EZW that way (although the utility works good, too). I have reviewed all of the suggestions on 0.9.21 tonight, and they are still valid. I also noticed the shooter registration screen no longer fits in one window now. Thanks again for a great service to the shooting community!
  7. Assume you mean March 10 or 11, 2012. Saturday, March 10, 2012, there may be a static steel match at Cedar Ridge Range in Bulverde (http://www.cedarridgerange.com). Saturday, March 10, 2012, there's a falling steel match at Copperas Cove Pistol Club (http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/CopperasCovePistolClub/) Sunday, March 11, 2012, there may be a match at the Austin Rifle Club held by the Austin Lone Star Practical Pistol Club (http://www.alsppc.com). It could be a USPSA pistol match, a multigun match, or a steel match. Check the website shortly before the match day. .
  8. I have just played with it a little on my Android phone. It seems like a great system. Looking forward to trying it in a match, if I can get some support from others in the club. A few quick suggestions: On the scoring screen, show the shooter's division (so RO can count rounds and evaluate equipment location). Also, show the squad number and allow changes there. From the target scoring screen, have a button that goes directly to review score (so don't have to back out to main scoring screen and then to review score screen). From the review score screen and also the details screen, have a save button (same reason, less screen movement). On the shooter/squad screen for each stage, have the shooters that have completed the stage show up in green or some other color, so it's easier for old eyes to see who's left. Thanks for all the work you have put into this. It's a great service to the USPSA community! BTW, I saw in the manual that you guys are working on a stage design program. I hope you have looked at or will look at StageCad. It's a great concept that, unfortunately, has a bunch of bugs and hasn't kept up to date. I use it despite the bugs.
  9. The stages for the 2011 Multigun Nationals are posted. Stage 8 uses Metric targets for pistol and Classic targets for rifle. Handgun rule 4.2.1 says that Metrics and Classics "must not be included together in any stage." Rifle rule 4.2.1 and shotgun rule 4.2.1 both say that the "Metric Target, the Classic Target and the Universal Target must not be included together in any stage." The 2011 Multigun rules addendum does not contain any exception to the gun-specific rules. Anybody know what rule exception allows the combination of targets used on Stage 8?
  10. Hi Paul, I used Competition a lot last year with 200 gr. MG CMJs, and liked it a lot. Then I discovered it is very reverse temperature sensitive. The load I was using was 168 PF at 60 degrees, but only 159 at 90 degrees.

I use an STI 5" Eagle with bushing barrel in 9x19 for ESP, with a Krebs aluminum mag well. The double stack mags and mag well are very forgiving of less than perfect reloads. The trigger is a crisp 2.5 pounds. Dawson Precision fiber optic sights front and rear. Comptac holster and homemade mag pouches. Ideal ESP set up, IMHO.
  12. Certainly within it's magnetic field, right? I think you're reaching..... Let's see ... The ordinary, everyday meaning of the term "in" as used by the rule certainly fits the use of ordinary mag pouches. To get magnetic pouches within the rule's express language, though, requires a much more esoteric construction of the words used in the rule, i.e., "within it's magnetic field." But reference to the natural reading of the rule is reaching? I haven't been in the sport long enough to know the origin of the rule and its language. I suspect the rule was first implemented before anyone thought of using magnets, and ordinary language applicable to conventional mag pouches was used without any thought of any implications or nuances in meaning with respect to unconventional carriers. Magnets do offer an advantage over conventional pouches in some situations, for example, the stage referenced above that required starting with all ammo placed on the stage off the belt. Allowing the use of magnets certainly is not mandated by rule. Before contorting the language of the rule to deem magnets allowable, therefore, it seems appropriate to consider the underlying policy implications and whether magnets really should be allowed. That said, I admit to having a magnet prominently accessible on my belt. But I've always wondered if I'd get called for using it.
  13. Do the magazines fit "in" the magnet? 5.2.4 During the course of fire, after the start signal, unless stipulated otherwise in the stage procedure, spare ammunition, magazines and/or speed loading devices shall be carried in retention devices attached to the competitor's belt and specifically designed for that purpose.
  14. I have used MG 185 JHPs over 5.5 gr. Titegroup at 1.210 OAL. 171 power factor at 75 degrees.

  16. Here's a list of parts that will convert a stock 1100 into a Competition Master clone: http://beta.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=6&f=1&t=258806
  17. Call Remington parts department and ask about these parts: F300903 MAGAZINE TUBE EXTENSION ASSEMBLY 22" BLACK OXIDE F99833 Magazine Extension Tube Coupling Matte Finish F300892 MAGAZINE SPRING, 12 GAUGE, 9 SHOT I think they cost me about $45 + shipping a few years ago. You'll wind up with 8 round mag, plus one in the chamber.
  18. I have an STI Trojan in 45 ACP. I've had great results with the $12 STI 8 round mags. I also have a couple each of Wilson, Kimber, and CMC, but like the STIs as much as any of them.
  19. Rule 6.1.1, only can be done if the course of fire specifies that scores and penalties are to be recorded and the targets taped between strings.
  20. I have 3 ESS Ice glasses (clear, smoke, yellow). All 3 have the nose piece that accepts the Rx insert. I have 2 Rx inserts. One insert has my distance prescription for open with a very small bifocal bottom that has my reading prescription. The other insert has an upside-down bifocal for iron sights, with a "compromise" grind that makes the front sight fairly clear but still allows me to kind-of see the target. I'm very happy with them.
  21. I originally thought it would be a grip problem, too. Turns out, though, that the larger width (side to side dimension) was causing the mag tube to hang up on the frame itself. The excess width was at the top of the tube, right below the relief cut for the slide stop, between the arrows in the picture. No choice but to squeeze the tube - I wasn't about to touch the frame for this problem.
  22. I've had really good luck with the old style SV tubes in my STIs, and decided to get a few more. So I recently purchased a couple of the new style SV tubes. I knew I was going to have to modify the catch hole as Bart describes; the old style tubes need this, too. But I was surprised that the new tubes would not seat fully in the STI frames. Turns out the new tubes are bigger, both in depth (muzzle-breach direction) and width (side to side). It took about an hour per tube of "massaging" with a vise and channel locks to get them to work. After squeezing the tubes, I also had to reset the lips, another half hour per tube.
  23. Of all of the affordable techniques in this thread, this seems to work the best for me. Thanks for the tip, Jerry!
