  1. Go shoot Revolver for a year and see how awesome every other trigger is after that........ Take care, Dave
  2. Empty gun table starts to one shot on paper are good. 2 shots if they allow it. Both are good to practice at a boring range. Dave
  3. Check out Springer Precision dot com. He is very well known for his XD work. I have his parts in my XD (that I installed) and they work great. I think his action job is at least half of what SA wants. Take care, Dave
  4. MY Mossberg 930 will do a 3 shot 2 inch group at 50 yards, center of the target, using Winchester 1600fps rifled slugs. When I use either WinLite or Ranger Reduced power slugs, the gun shoots a foot to the right. You need to try a few different types and brands to see what works for your gun. Take care, Dave
  5. Good info. Replied to track. Dave
  6. +10000 My wife loves her show and I can't stand the show or her voice either.
  7. I've got a few thousand match rounds thru an XD9 Tact and it's been 100% except for a couple failures to reset which were due to a too light sear spring ( my fault). I love mine. Take care, Dave
  8. You're awesome. Makes me want to go out and practice. I'm new to shotgun so it looks great to me. I also like the glasses cam. Take care, Dave
  9. I got the same ring on basically the same setup... Don't seem to have it on new brass but it (the ring) is definitely there on fired and trimmed brass. Dave
  10. I find nothing wrong with the Blue Press. If you are offended by the Blue Press, switch hobbies... I'm just sayin' Dave
  11. I lay down a rag and put 100 or 200 cases on top. Hit them with a couple shots of HOS. Grab the ends of the rag and swish back and forth like cleaning a bowling ball. Pick the whole thing up over my 550 Casefeeder and drop one side. All the cases fall in the hopper and I load with minimal effort. I took the hint from Brian, I've reloaded thousands of 45ACP rounds without lube (and carbide dies) in my 550B but it is SO much easier with lube. Just like other things in life......... Dave
  12. Get all the lube out of the gas system. Mine runs Walmart shells 100%, and it throws the hulls 15 feet out... The manual says to lube the piston, spacer tube, and pusher assembly then wipe the oil off. I'm pretty sure that's what they want. I tried a few different lubes on the gas system parts and they all caused too much drag. I wound up lubing the magazine tube then wiping all the oil off with a rag. There is still a small amount of oil in the metal's pores but you can't feel it. Give it a try and see what you think. I've only had mine for a few weeks and there doesn't seem to be too many 930 SPX shooters on these forums so any shared help is good. Take care, Dave ETA: Another tip. Lock the bolt back overnight. Puts some tension on the recoil spring inside the stock and it helps the spring to settle in.
  13. Hello, I just picked up a new 930 SPX and like others on this forum, I've found the gun shoots high, even with the rear sight fully bottomed out. I tried to adjust the front sight at the range but was unable so I looked into it further once I got home. The front sight is adjustable and the Mossberg owners manual doesn't really cover how to do it. The front sight pivots on a pin with a spring pushing the front sight up and a screw on the other end that you turn in or out. Turning the screw in allows the rear of the sight to go deeper in the adjustment hole and because of the pivot pin, raises the front of the fiber optic up. All you need is a 1.5mm allen wrench inserted into the hole in the center of the adjustment screw and turn clockwise to raise the front sight. I raised my front sight .032" which should be plenty to get slugs POA/POI at 50 yards, or at least allow some adjustment again on the rear sight. Take care, Dave Edit to add: Disregard the fibers and such on the front sight. Probably should have cleaned that before taking macro photos...
  14. Ballistic FTE and the Surefire shot timer are outstanding applications. Dave
  15. Are the mags full? I couldn't tell from the video. They don't seat as easily topped off with the slide forward. I'll drop one with a round or 2 in it but reload with a topped off mag with some dummies inside. Take care, Dave
  16. You can always go with the published OAL to be safe. I tend to run around 1.225 with my 200gr LRN. I think OAL would be difficult to repeat among the vast array of SWC bullets since there are so many profiles. SWC just get loaded until the shoulder of the bullet is just above the case mouth (for example). It usually comes down to a feeding issue and loading to whatever length your gun likes. Take care, Dave
  17. Clays is almost the industry standard in gaming 45ACP. Super clean even when using lead. Take care, Dave
  18. +1 My Dillon Die set has a crimp die so I use it. Have some 1 moa targets I can't argue with. Take care, Dave
  19. Mine did that as well when I first set it up. You'll need to go back and readjust the cam plate so there is no "preload" against the case. I found the instructions in the Troubleshooting portion of the manual much more accurate, than the initial setup instruction in the beginning of the manual. What is happening is, as the bar moves away from the case, the case rebounds back and doesn't line up with the die anymore. Set it up so the case just sits in the shell holder and (hopefully) your problem will be solved. Take care, Dave
  20. I've got one coming in a couple weeks. Hope it shoots my Winchester Lite Loads that I have for Cowboy Action since I have so many... Take care, Dave
  21. Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and bought that one as well. Excellent program. Take care, Dave
  22. Hello again, I've had my iPhone for a couple weeks now and am amazed at all that I can do with it. I was checking the other topic about jailbreaking and keyed on the ballistics program the poster wanted to use. I then went to the App Store and found that there are 3 listed ballistic calculator authors with a few available for each at different price ranges. I downloaded the free one from Winchester but haven't even opened it yet. Seems the other 2 high dollar apps are from Runaway Technology and Jonathan Zdziarski, titled BulletFlight and Ballistic respectively. Curious if anyone here has used these and has anything to say about them. I've used JBM's calculators on line and they are great. Ballistic uses the JBM engine so I "assume" it should be similar to the online version but not sure. Any input would be appreciated. Take care, Dave
  23. Turn the size die down a bit further and try again. I followed Dillons instructions for setting the size die and found that to size the once fired cases to fit in my Dillon case gauge, I had to turn the sizing die down until it touched the shell plate. Lubed some cases, ran them through, and they fell into the case gauge perfectly. After I had fired the brass in my chamber, they needed next to nothing to size them back. Try that first, then add the trimmer later... Take care, Dave
  24. This years match was great and I look forward to the next. Dave
