Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks. I cleaned it very good before today and lubed it. I'm heading down to clean it again and I'll try some hotter stuff tomorrow. If in fact it works with "hotter" ammo then you might want to leave the bolt locked back to the rear to help with the action spring "break-in" process. Let us know how it goes. Patrick Will do. Just finished cleaning it.

  3. I just took my new 930 SPX to the range with a 100 round bulk pack of Winchester Universal 7 1/2 bird shot from Walmart just to see how it functioned and it wouldn't eject any rounds. I fired about 20 and gave up. I could see the charging handle moving back but apparently not far enough. Anyone able to shoot this stuff? I'm going to clean it again and take some slugs out. TIA
  4. I'm just getting started so I'm no expert, but what works for me is to squint the weak eye, just a bit, for me it throws the focus to my strong eye. I actually have both eyes open but my weak eye is squinted just a bit. Try this during your dry firing. I noticed after a short time I no longer needed to squint unless I took a week or so off from dry firing. Then I would just close my weak eye a tiny bit and after an hour or so I was back to both eyes open. Hope that helps.
  5. + 1 I will be there with the Maine crew.. harvard is a great place to observe, ask questions, etc.. Be sure to introduce yourself as a BE'er as well. I contacted Dan Hurley down there and he said come on down. I'm planning on heading down Sunday morning. It would be great to meet some of the guys on this forum. Any of you guys plan on going? If it's OK, PM me your name and I'll try to find you and introduce myself, in any event good luck Sunday!
  6. I'm thinking of "Perfect Practice" but am hoping for advice on which I should start with.
  7. Hi everyone. I've been a bit of a plinker off and on most of my life, never a very good shot though. Then I came across a Todd Jarrett video on You Tube and I thought it was the coolest thing I've ever seen! I'm very much a beginner at 49 but I'm enthusiastic about learning this, to be honest I now think about shooting all day at work. I was wondering if there were any coaches in the New England area. My thinking is that a few hours with the right coach will save me months of trial and error. Also what beginners books would you recommend? I need to start with basics. Thanks to everyone Nick
