  1. I shot an IDPA Classifier today and the light was in such a way that I saw dozens of bullets-- 9, 40, 45. I lost count. Awesome day. Sometimes I'd see them right out of the muzzle and they'd make a visible line to the target. Take care, Dave
  2. It's flat black sight paint to keep the glare down on your sights. Birchwood Casey sells an aerosol can of the stuff. Here is a link to some from Midway http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/...leitemid=504999 Take care, Dave
  3. And some of us can count to 10 too. I do not deride other shooting disciplines, I believe that if you're not emptying brass and making noise, you're not having fun. Yeah I am working on being mediocre at about a half dozen disciplines myself. -ld I heard that! That's funny. I was at a match last weekend and had an RO talk to our squad of revo shooters like we were kids... He was explaining the stage (IDPA) and says "So for you revo guys, you'll shoot one two, three four, five six, then reload"........... Thanks pal.... Dave
  4. Just wanted to ask how many have ever been able to see a .45 slug travel to the target? I have read Brian's book a couple of times now and am trying to improve my vision through awareness. I've had a few key moments where I've noticed a sound or saw something that I haven't seen before yet know that it/they have always been there.... hearing a piece of brass hitting the floor while shooting, seeing the front sight perfectly centered in the zero down, etc. However, at a match over the weekend, my shooting buddy and I were sighting in his new 625 on some steel plates and I was standing at his 5 o'clock to tell him where the impacts were. I stood in such a way as to not be able to see his gun. Probably after the second shot or so when I knew where his shots were most likely going to be, I started seeing the bullet about half way down range and could follow it to the target. I saw the next few as well and was almost speechless. I know what I saw, although when you think about it, it seems impossible to do something like that. Definitely at the top of my awareness achievement list. Take care, Dave
  5. The other thing to consider with a revo in IDPA is that all stages can be thought of as Limited Vickers. Per HQ courses at matches are supposed to be revolver "neutral" which is great but that doesn't help a rushed or botched shot... My moon clip reloads are ok but in no way fast so one has to consider the time penalty for getting a better sight picture and shot break over spraying rounds and having to do multiple reloads. Revos definitely require thought to be competitive. But they are fun. Take care, Dave
  6. My local club is fortunate to have an area where they can run a "jungle run" stage where a shooter moves down a dirt trail and engages IDPA targets using natural cover. Today they had a trip wire located about mid-trail that was held with a couple spring clips. If you "tripped' the wire, you'd get a Procedural for it. Very fun stage.
  7. ...what he said. I hope the next one is better.... Dave
  8. In fact, here's another website for Rugers only. This one is more of a factory forum without the cowboy action... http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB/index.php?...5a60bad21ea7cfa Take care, Dave
  9. Here's the link to the same website but to the Ruger only subforum. http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/board,34.0.html Take care, Dave
  10. +1 I was in the exact same situation and tried to make clays work as a 9mm powder and eventually shelved the idea and now swear by WSF for 9mm. I am using 4.5gr of WSF to push either a plain lead or plated 124/125gr RN projectile. Very accurate and very clean. I didn't want to have to get a second powder on hand either but am very happy I did.
  11. My only guess with them ditching the chrono was because the match started late and they needed to make up time. Myself and a couple buddies spent 2 chrono sessions getting ready for this match so I was hoping for the chrono as well... Take care, Dave
  12. Well, the match has come and gone. Overall, I had a good time. 11 stages that were pretty cool. 123 shooters on the finish roster. Take care, Dave
  13. Did he wait 5 seconds to take aim before launching projectile gas?
  14. I think there are 100 or so confirmed on the shooters list so far. I'll be there. Take care, Dave
  15. Yeah, Scott's a great guy. Great service and fast shipping.
  16. "I dare ya...I double dare ya" and of course, "Do they speak english in what?"
  17. Saw it today. Liked it a lot. But as always, it gets me when you here a Glock "hammer" cocking....
  18. I've had excellent luck with either X-Treme plated round nose 124gr over 4.5gr WSF or Missouri Bullets LRN 125gr over same charge. Right at 133PF for the plated and 136PF for the lead. Both out of an XD9 Tac. Take care, Dave
  19. I just checked to be sure and there are lots of WSF and 231 loads listed. I checked under 9mm all and found many loads. Perhaps you checked an incorrect box or something. http://data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp Take care, Dave
  20. I thought that David Olhasso shot an M&P last year? Here is an exerpt from XD Talk Forums. I was basing my statement on this: I have used an XD9 Tactical for competition for the past two years. Fantastic gun, and, yes, it has to be used in ESP instead of SSP. And it can hold its own against 1911s. I won ESP Sharpshooter with my XD at this year's IDPA Nationals, and the CDP Division (the 1911 Division) was won by David Olhasso with an XD45 Tactical. 1911s are nice but they aren't the only big dog in the division anymore. The drop-in jobs improve the pull, but the best results come from an actual gunsmith working on your trigger. Mine was done by Canyon Creek, and I think it's outstanding. Best, Jim Take care, Dave
  21. I was using a buddies CV-500 and it was probably 10 years old or better and still worked perfectly. I just picked up my own a few months ago and it works fine so far. Hopefully for a number of years. Take care, Dave
  22. The title on the original post is for an XD9 Service so that would go in ESP. That's it, no other classes will allow it. IF, it was an XD 45 then you would go in CDP because it's a .45 and you need to make 165 power factor. ESP only has a power factor of 125 so that is where your 9mm would go. I've been running my XD9 Tactical in ESP for a while now and it has worked very well for me. FWIW, the 2007 IDPA National Champ in CDP was on an XD45. Take care, Dave
  23. I would call Dillon back again and remind them of how loyal a customer you are and that the tumbler is being returned for warranty service, again. Offer to let them charge you for repairs if they find nothing wrong.... Once they get it back in their hands, they will see that it is not up to spec. Hopefully. Take care, Dave
  24. Yes, the main match is Saturday. Side matches and Prizes are on Sunday. See ya, Dave
