  1. It comes down to tolerance, which is easy to see when you are fitting in triggers, upper to lower match and tightness of pins. Strength, which takes a while to see, but I have seen take down pin areas and trigger pin areas getting loose over time. Could be just bad finish. Finish, I have seen some wear off, but not sure whether it was the factory finish or someone that coated them. Is it worth the price tag? I don't spend the extreme high end of the price tag, but I see sloppy fit with lower end upper and lower receivers and haven't seen them with high end ones. Some companies also had the issue with out of spec magwell which was apparent when it was very difficult to fit usgi mags and yes, quality control can slip and bring on the minor annoyance, but how many receivers will you really buy? (stupid question for some of us as I seem to find a roll pin and build rifles around it from time to time....)
  2. I have compared the CMC to SD3G. They are both about the same and if someone asked me if I can tell the difference between the two, I wouldn't be able to in a blind test. I use another brand trigger in my 3-gun rifles, but these are definitely toward the top of my trigger choices as I own them.
  3. I have seen these at a rimfire match. The shooters were producing very tight groups with Eley match grade ammo. As for reliability, I didn't see any failures, but that is my only experience with them. When 22LR prices and availability normalizes I may get one for live fire practice, but not sure when that is suppose to happen around my area.
  4. I practice with stock CZ to use that stock heavy trigger pull.
  5. What is the upper receiver used and torque setting on the barrel nut?
  6. The gunsmiths that install them do not use the EZ kit but fit the original trigger kit to the way they see fit.
  7. I own a few bullpubs including the Tavor. I would never use them in any serious matches. Bad trigger, slow reloads, difficult to clear. I really like the platform and it is fun, but I like the AR platform for action shooting matches.
  8. Vortex Razor has other reticle option as well. I have the JM and it is very useful for 3-gun and I don't feel it is lacking anything for this purpose.
  9. They are good mid-range barrels for the price. Great company too. I have been wanting to try Proof Research barrels for a while to try to create a lighter barrel. However, I am more concerned about sustained accuracy and have had accuracy issues with Christiansen Arms rifle. I know Proof Research barrels are designed to be better, but I don't know of heat dissipation effectiveness as my concern is sustained accuracy.
  10. I see a lot of 18" lightweight configurations at matches. Others are 16".
  11. you have a record showing 2980 out of the nordic barrel correct? sorry for the slow response. Yes, it is the nordic 18" barrel.
  12. Federal's test barrel is 24". Or at least that is what it was with XM193 M855 equivalents from what their engineer told me. I have a record showing 2980 average out of that barrel.
  13. I like building stuff, but I think it saves time and headache to have one built knowing that accuracy is guaranteed and the item is worth something when I am ready to move on. I have 7-8 rifles I have built with high end parts, but they just aren't worth anything so I lend those out to people, but wouldn't be worth selling. I don't say the same about the lower assembly.
  14. I have 3 side charging AR platforms with folding handles. One is ASA and the other 2 is JP. I like how small the ASA charging handle is, but my hand gets cut all the time. JP handles are smooth and large which can be good or bad, but once they are folded out of the way, they don't get in the way.
  15. I am considering a shorter barrel for obstacles. At Blue Ridge, I noticed that rifles slung would get the long barrels hit during the COF.
  16. My Noveske 18" Recce shot 1 moa. Length should make no difference in accuracy as I have seen 1/2 moa range with 14.5" barrels which makes me really want one.
  17. I have been considering 14.5" barrel pinned and welded. Shouldn't have any issues as long as it is a quality barrel. Want to try something new, but will probably go with JP barrel again for now. I think it will not have any issues reaching out to 3-400 yards.
  18. I ended up buying one from Millett. Model TL 165 which is not listed on their website, but on the listings from sellers, it says for 1-6.5 and 1-8.5. The unit fits so loosely when the screws are tightened down it slides off, but all the grooves match the scope adjustment area. I had to use rubber shim from something else to finish it. If I didn't need it at the last minute, I would have waited for something else, but using the scope for a big match. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BQ0MMYK/ref=pe_385040_121528360_TE_dp_1#
  19. That's great to hear. Thank you for the information. I was looking at their website and saw it there, so I hope they have something I would need. This brings up another question, At safety tables, how freely can I move the rifle to make the right sling adjustments? I can guess how long it needs to be from my past use, but I was curious as I have always used VTAC slings and spent very little time with Magpul MS4.
  20. Anyone happen to know if they sell slings and QD attachments? Of course I forget something and I found this out upon arrival..... If someone has seen one of the Magpul MS3 or MS4 sling, that would be awesome. Also, are they able to take cards? It appears that most vendors do at these events, but I wanted to confirm.
  21. You wouldn't have to count the shots. If you plan out the stage, you would reload at a certain point. If this wasn't the case, I can usually tell because the way I look at my front sight post would have shifted as I am tracking.
  22. I can see it being useful for that, but what if I need to angle it for slots to clear the scope? I guess I could rest it down all the way. Still an interesting idea.
  23. I looked it up thinking it was red. Very disappointed.
  24. I really would appreciate an answer on this as well. From what I can see on stage descriptions, shotgun will be staged or held then dumped. My sling attachment broke and trying to see if I can save some money. Thank you.
