  1. It surprised me how many people think it's the grease ring that scores. I get it for the folks who shoot moslty IDPA but if you shoot mostly or all USPSA then you should be worried about the grease ring. It really just boils down to most people are there to have a good time. There not nearly as concerned with the fine print rules as much as others are.
  2. This! But I've seen a lot of folks just is it as the edge for the perf even when you can clearly see it. I'm like, uh....we can already see the line. So, yes you don't always need two but you gotta use them when needed. And yes, I will ask/do it even at a club match.
  3. scratch my previous post! They all suck. This is from today!
  4. Not realy a rant but kinda.....I've not made it thru a single USPSA match, club level or level 2 or 3, where I haven't seen an RO score a target incorrectly at least once. Every instance I've seen goes like this, hole is very close to the perf. The call is to the bullet side. I say you sure? They say yes (sometimes they say grease ring doesn't touch). I say that needs an overlay. They pull out the overlay and just use one to line up the perf then say no it doesn't touch. I ask them to use both. I've seen a few that don't know how to use both. I had one person that is a CRO (I checked his profile) tell me they were never shown how to do that (use overlays). I had the RO at match I shot yesterday overlay a hit on a NS that he didn't call. After overlaying it was a NS. I was the shooter. Yeah, it's was a club match but still. And yes I know there's just gonna be inconsistencies here or there but shouldn't we try to minimize them as much as possible? Maybe I'm the only one this annoys or the only person that sees it happen, idk?
  5. OP, Do you intend to send it to Glock? If so, let us know what the outcome is.
  6. A zone grips. Are the best I've found. Though, I just put a set of talons on a buddy's q5 and so far they do seem like they work better than previous talons. Previously, every set of talons I've griped come off. I would tell people I'd see using them they can't be gripping hard enough if the talons we're still on. Then I'd grip their gun and ruin the talons. I think they changed the adhesive or were taking about it. A zones are the best. You can get them from Brownells. I get a clean tooth brush and scrub the grip with alcohol. Then, I use a hair dryer. Heat up the gun and the tape. Then heat after I stick it down. I do one side at a time. Then, I wrap the grip in para chord and then wrap that with an ace bandage. Leave it for 24 hrs. I'll be going to silcon carbide.
  7. I'm gonna send my slide off to get cut for the DPP. That's the otpic I bought because all the top guys who do use an optic use that one. I'm a follower!
  8. Question for you ketoians..... Do you have to track macros?
  9. I'm probably gonna be setting up a Glock for CO. It'll probably be a 34. I doubt a 17 is any better or worse. So, if they're cheaper then I'd say go with that. I'm probably gonna choose a 34 just so I can get the same velocity between two guns in case I want to shoot prod. Don't want to have to worry about being 50fps slower. And I already have a 34. So...... I'm not buying the 17 is faster to swing. At least not enough to really verify. Though, if you think it is, that's all that matters. Same with the gen5 being more accurate.... I've not shot one but from what I understand, they just went to standard rifling. But I'm worng a lot so,....
  10. Smart on thier part. Get those guys who don't practice to still show up and they finish in the middle of the pack and then post to FB!
  11. I didn't even think but thats kind of how they get treated.
  12. Are we really expecting the RO's to be able to distinguish between all the different types of fire control parts that are possible in production? Come on! Let's just left everyone start with the hammer cocked, no safety and the gun in their hands an aimed, finger in trigger! This would solve a lot of confusion on what's allowed and what's not!
  13. Prima SV. About 15 per 1.1 lbs. I'm using around 4.4 grs at 1.185 w/180 gr blue bullets. Out of a 5" KKM barrel. Can't remember the velocity of the top.of my head but I'm getting around 170 pf.
  14. I don't know why I'm even responding to this because it's really just a waste of my time, but since I have a little time to waste at the moment, I'll say not all the heartburn is purley emotional. What problem did it solve? What information did they use to update them? That's part of my frustrations.. I can see the point that it was easy for some to be shot at over 100% but was there a really problem with that happening all the time? I've still not met a paper GM. And once again, I'll point out all the super Squad level GM's that didn't shoot 95% of the winner at nats the last several years. Are they not really GM's? These changes will have no affect on those shooters or their placement (or anyone's) in matches. I'm the type that tries to be cautious about making corrections because it's too easy to make things worse. Most times when this happens you get stuck with a more flawed system because it's too much effort, too difficult to switch back and/or the persons responsible don't want to admit they made a mistake! If others are upset because some are now harder to get a good hf, and in turn that makes it harder to get to the next class, there's no shame in that. In mind at least.
  15. Wow! Good news is Glock should replace it for free!
  16. Every plastic gun I pick up feels slick to me. Grip tape, silcon carbide, stippling or all the above helps. I also use pro grip. I'm shooting a q5 right now for fun to try and see if I'm gonna like it. I want to shoot CO next year. Yes it's a different animal than the CZ! You gotta really grip the gun hard and try to get that support hand as high as possible. When I shoot CZ (or anything metal and with safties) I don't try to get the supper high weakhand grip like I do when I shoot a plastic gun. On the metal guns it seems to cause problems with the safites. My point is, if your grip is lower like how you may be gripping the CZ, that's gonna allow the gun to flip more. Try adjusting your weakhand higher, cant it forward and squeeze as hard as you can. It takes a little time to figure out what works best for you. I also think most swap out the recoil spring for a lighter one. Though, that's probably more for dip on the return of the slide. I'm getting to the point now where I just grip as hard as I can and I usually can't tell the difference between guns. Or at least I don't focus on it too much. The one thing I probably don't fret about! Ha ha.
  17. From looking at the pic, the locking block and the trigger housing pin are broke and the the locking block pin is bent. I'd ask, tell us more please. Which model? Round count? Ammo used? Correct ammo used? Recoil spring set up? Mods made to gun? At first glance I'm suspecting user error or ammo/pressure too hot! Is there any other damage to the gun? Pics of gun internally and mag used?
  18. Reading thru this thread and I came across your post. I guess us Americans like 5" plus guns and the rest if the world doesn't. I'm surprised. Question, why not just go with the 17 instead of the switch to the CZ?

    Glock heavy magwell

Thanks for the info. I found an old Dawson brass magwell.
  20. Try to find a good deal on a used one. Just so happens I know a guy who's considering getting out of limited and selling both his Atlas Titans.....
  21. I know that this has been asked before but it seems fewer companies are making them now. Is there anyone else making heavy brass magwells other than SJC? Seems Dawson quit making them?
  22. It's 2 am as I read and write this so, hopefully I get my point across. From reading this post above only, I'm gonna say you might be over complicating this. You need to find a grip that is consistent and grip hard. I'm sure you already know that but sometimes you gotta just start from there and try not to over think complicate things. Easier said than done some times. Not everyone can do the Vogel grip or this or that grip. Some guns work better with lower a grip due to controls. I wouldn't sweat not getting it so high like Vogel. If you can and it works and it's repeatable that's great. As for your week hand index finger hitting so hard it hurts, you may try doing the "tactical tummy tap" first. It's sounds lame I know. The second the beep starts you move your weak hand near the gun, maybe touching your belly close to the holster. Then when your weakhand gets to the gun from there it's not traveling as far/fast so maybe it won't hit so hard. Then maybe your technique will morph to not touching your stomach but instead it's just near by waiting for the gun to get out of the holster. Saying that, I do have to tape my finger because I break the skin. So, you may also just have to get used to it hurting. Find what works for you. It may be a combination of different techniques. I wouldn't worry about it. Get it consistent and grip as hard as you can with your weakhand. Then, try to get the speed. It should come. Also, you mention your tense. Well, try to relax. Gotta find that combination of tension/relaxation. Too much of either and it may be too slow or too wild. Do the micro drills for grip in Stoegers book while finding your own way. You'll get it!
  23. Why/how did the first ones break?
