I started this sport a little late in life at 49, and now 5 years into it, I can see why they set the age for senior at 55. I can definitely feel old age starting to creep up… Honestly, I always thought it would be great to make Master I but never really thought it would be possible. Last year I made production A class and spent a day and a half with Shannon Smith, and I think reaching Master just may be possible. Although, the recent updates to the classifier high hit factors really hurts… I know it’s generally not recommended, but I’ve started shooting classifiers a lot in practice. Since Master is my goal, it seems to make sense to use classifiers as a benchmark to test myself against and learn from. Not to mention I really stink at classifiers in general… My early live fire training was focused on a lot of field course work. This was really helpful with transitioning from running/moving to accurate shooting modes and seemed to make me fairly successful in matches overall, but I perform poorly in classifiers. Long story short… I need help. I’ve really put a lot of work into getting where I’m at today and improvements seem to be harder to come by. I’ve currently got several issues I’m dealing that I’ll detail in my next post. It really boils down to pride. B class was good, and I’m was super happy when I made A class, but “Master” really sound nice. Master.. master.. maaaasteerr Yea… You guys have been an extremely valuable resource over the years, and I know I’ll benefit greatly from your feedback. I know we all love talking about the sport we love, but detailed replies take a lot of time, so let me go ahead and say how much I appreciate all the help.
If this is the wrong area to post, please move or let me know for the next time. Anyways, was looking to get a 700 action to build off of and came across the wal mart special of an ADL for $377. Seems like a great deal other than the imbeciles behind the counter. In spite of state law saying that out of state residents can buy long guns, this wal mart was told me that they aren't allowed to sell to out of state residents. Has anyone else run into this before? I'm in a gunsmithing program out of my home state right now and the next project is on a 700. Dropped by a few of the local shops who unfortunately didn't have anything on hand. In addition to this, what,if any, is the difference between the action on a cheap ADL and say the standard long action that Brownells sells? What I'm wondering is if there is anywhere else to get a rifle for that kind of price. I really only need the action, and if I had a choice I'd rather shop somewhere else. I'm wondering if anyone has a solid source on something similar that is relatively inexpensive. Thanks for any info and for the quick vent. Yet another frustrating firearms experience at walmart. I'd rather them not sell guns than act like idiots behind the counter.
I recently picked up the M&P Shield in 9mm, and love it. Also started loading and shooting bayou bullets as love them as well. The pistol is reliable and the bullts are accurate with no leading and little smoke. 124 gr bayou bullet Starline case CCI SP primer Power pistol powder (going to try longshot and bluedot when I can find it) Anyway I got in touch with apex tactical to find out if their Forward Set Sear and Trigger kit will work in the Shield. It will not but was told they maybe working on it with R&D. Apparently they have gotten a number of requests for this, so if there is anyone out there that would be interested in this product from them please contact themand let them know!
