  1. I do IPSC in South Africa. We have no "Classifiers". I just happen to shoot in the same club as 4 out of the top 10 guys in SA.(One of them is the SA champ). I have no way to measure my progress as the top guys are chasing each other and are getting better at an alarming rate.(Alarming to us normal shooters in any case). I would love to shoot "Classifiers" so that I can quantify my progress. IMHO some people will always try and manipulate the proses, if that is what they want out of the system- good luck to them. If they win "D" that way it must really matters a lot to them so they should have that, and they will get the respect they deserve from other shooters. The rest of the shooters will use it as a tool and use that tool to better themselves. The best I have ever fared during a Level 2 or higher was 4th "Silver". I was misclassified by the organizers and would have taken 1st Bronze easily. 4th Silver is a lot better to me than 1st Bronze. (And no medal was handed out for 4th Silver) I`m "speaking" under correction here but I think Bronze= C and Silver = B.
  2. That makes it 3 Glock KB`s reported on BE forums this week!
  3. +1 On the starting on a single stage press. Have a experienced reloader help you get set up. Some one at the club is sure to oblige. Once you feel that the single stage is holding you back you then decide on Progressive presses. Your savings for the ammo will be huge. I know I will get crucified for this: Lee makes good value for money stuff and if well maintained they do last a good time. My Lee is still going strong after 26 years.
  4. Second Glock Kaboom, this week! Whats up with the Glock guys, cant they reload or do the shooters of other guns keep quiet when they KABOOM their guns.
  5. Once had a problem with a mag while on the other side of the range and had to run all the way back to the table to get another mag. It takes the same amount of time to pick up one mag or two. Grab two mags as Luca describes and put them in the pouches. Load gun and shoot the stage. You might not have the fastest time but you will have a plan B for when life happens to plan A. I never ended a stage where I felt that I had to much ammo. Plan for the worst and then get pleasantly surprised.
  6. Lets swap- my 42.5C for your -38C. Absolutely sick and tired of the heat, you can strip down to the skin and if you're still boiling learn to live with it. Just half your cold for half my heat. My problem is that it stays hot at night also.
  7. I think you need to decide what you want to shoot and what gun you like the most. Just think , you buy the bees knees in a Racing Super, paying big bucks, and then find that you are more interested in PD. You never really get all your money back, no matter who made the gun(except maybe in a Purdy). Shoot what you have for a while and then decide on the Division that blows your dress up. Once you have decided n the specific Division get yourself the best blaster you can get your hands on. Stick to that blaster and change it as you needs change. Personally I shoot Standard gun and just about everybody that makes a 1911 type of gun has one of his parts in the gun. I got to know a good `smith and together we are building the "perfect" SD gun for me. Other shooters think that Frankenstuff is hideous but she is a sweet shooter that put then in the A all day long. I don`t think she knows how to have a stoppage as she never had one before. Most importantly she was built for me and as I develop in the sport so does she. Next she will probably "grow" a handmade 500gr full length dust cover. Will I ever get my money back if I decide to sell her? you have to be joking!!
  8. badchad: Glad to hear that you're OK. I bet you`re glad now the wife does the washing.(I would be) INHO The shot must have sounded louder than the others, the chamber did burst open after all, so the sound came from there and was not directed forwards from the muzzle. Why is it that so many Glocks blow up and not the Paras, CZ`s and Tanfoglios? Can it be that more Glock owners are reckless(or stupid) in the reloading room and with their ammo than owners of other makes? Surely not! Owners of Glocks does not belong to a specific type of personality, they are shooters like all of us. Do I think that there might be a problem with Glocks, specifically in 40 S&W? Well several Glocks, certainly more that all others combined has gone KABOOM. Do I have numbers: no of course not. It just seem that a lot of 40 Glocks said howsit in the past couple of months. I, personally believe that the safety margins with Glocks might be a bit tighter(especially in 40) than with most other 40`s. Remember that Glock had their 40 on the market before Smith got theirs out. The cartridge is called 40S&W after all. A lot of people carry Glocks without the slightest problem. Glocks are good guns generally BUT we need to be concerned about the Glock 40`s. Guns are not made to go KABOOM. Up to now we have been testing the built in airbags in the Glock 40`s and they worked well. No-one has bled to much- yet. Frankly speaking I would get something else with a similar grip angle since you like the angle but not a Glock. There are many good guns out there, I have never had a problem with with a second hander, just check it out carefully. The last thing we need is to give the "Anti`s" more ammo to use against us. Ammo= "Shooters are more prone to injury because their guns blow up with distressing frequency". Next they will have special taxes to cover "injuries" I must stress that this is my private opinion and that generally I hold Glocks in very high regard.
  9. Well, at least that is the one I am talking about.
  10. I'm Amaryne, Hagars' daughter. I hope every thing is well. Me and my family says hello and hopes it gust gets better! I have also been in big danger and got better, so she will get completely better! I had a appendectomy a while ago and was very ill because the doctors did not pick it up in time. Please tell your daughter that I hope she recovers completely as it must suck big-time not to be able to see. :surprise:
  11. Now I am intrigued! Would the moderators be interested in running a poll about how many shooters feel they have been screwed by times upsets. I for one feel that a few times that the timer was NOT my friend.
  12. Believe me you will not be sorry, it is one of those things that every re-loader should use. I`m so blase about the whole thing that I do not even check my match any more. My carry ammo(Federals, Spears and Corbons) all go through the FCD before they go into the mag.
  13. Now I have seen some of Bevan`s mags and obviously he knowa what he is talking about
  14. Been shooting a Para ever since I swapped my BullM5. Sweet shooting gun and now that I spent some on it very accurate and dependable. Now if I can just sort out the guys with their verdammit Glocks!!
  15. The Glock forum seems to work as well as the guns and the people shooting them about as up to date. Now that I have alienated 3/4`s of the shooting community let me go away and chew on my liver about having my butt whipped by several guys with Glocks- again. How on earth can a gun that looks so agricultural shoot so well?(Rhetorical question)
  16. It is so sad that we fight on behalf of the "Anti`s". They mean to get all guns, also the smart over and under`s of the shotgun crowd. Here in SA it is the Hunters and the Collectors that screw each other. The result stays the same- we loose our guns. Would it be possible to approach the NRA with you guys to intervene on your behalf? Here in SA we have SAGA and they seem to try and pull all firearm owners together so that we all play in the same team. Still it is so sad that we as shooters cannot or will not work together for the greater good.
  17. We have a couple over here in SA but we call them something else. (Come now women and children read this, surely you cannot expect me to publish something like that) Had great fun last year when a couple shot with us and they got a man sized butt whipping by my 13 year old daughter with a pink Browning HP. The worst was- she asked for a beer(loudly) after the shoot "Because I shot so badly and need something to feel better about" They seemed quite sick for some reason.
  18. Because I dry-fire so much I remove the firing pin.(For some reason I worry about the firing pin)
  19. What normally happens is that the timer gets banged against something(like a mag) as it get put behind the RO`s back. (Especially at level one`s were the RO`s are also competitors. I had to take a +/- 10second hit because of one. Maybe if it is as rife as it now seems to be there aught to be a rule about it.
  20. I would definitely be worried about it. We used to have a unit that specialized in investigating Occult related crime and if I was the responding officer on the scene they would be called first. I believe you might have some further problems in the future. Johann Buys Captain(Ret) SAPS
  21. I live out of your country(on a planet you cannot drive to i.e.Africa) but similar rules will always benefit all. Now you drive all the way to Timbuktu a city in Africa and when you get there you get DQed on the first stage because of some local and obscure rule you did not know about. It is a long drive home in any case, after any DQ but the drive is longer after an unearned DQ. One set of rules- no excuse about not knowing about the rules.
  22. I closed my little "Overseas account" today after reading the posts. It is time for my $ to come home in any case since they were sorely missed. It makes so much sense- just look at the -ZAR exchange rate. Frankenstuff will now get the full length dustcover I have been promising him
  23. It is always sad to loose a range. The Anti`s are getting smarter and are closing more and more venues to shooters over the world. Sad, very sad.
