  1. http://membres.lycos.fr/proshoot/videotir/...nnes2003JB3.mpg Here is a link to Julien Boit shooting a barricade at the world shoot from this post http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...f=45&t=6747&hl=
  2. Ditto to staying back staying in a neutral position and keeping back.
  3. I like that my I shot yesterday and my finger didn't hurt painfully, wellness is near!!!
  4. Well said Detlef. I don't consider it a recoil reducer (I think that is a marketing gimick) but more as a timing changer. The RM allows you to use two super light weight springs without tearing your gun apart. Although the reliability thing hasn't been an issue for me, but then again I only have about 7k on my RM. If it broke on me I would not hesitate to go back to a tungsten rod.
  5. When I feel the need to clean the chamber (not often) I just use a standard .40 brass bore brush and just dink away at the chamber with it.
  6. Two words "operator error" if the splits aren't faster all it means is you aren't pulling the trigger faster. The sprinco, haven't used one in years, takes some getting used to because of the double recoil impulse. You might have to give it some time. I like the RM because it doesn't give the ca-chunk of the sprinco. The make the gun work different. I use RM's in mine guns because I wanted to test them. The way I shoot they are faster (about .01-.02 splits .03-.05 target to target) It is diffinetly flatter and softer for me. I can use a Tunsten rod and shoot about as good. Not much difference in times or hits, for me it is just a feel thing that I prefer. I notice it much more on target to target transitions, it makes my tunsten barreled limited gun shoot dang near as flat as a open gun using the RM. Bottom line is if it doesn't work for you, don't use it. For me a RM is faster on the timer, not much but a tad, but I like the "feel" a lot better, but it took about 4k round to get used to. I was pushing the gun down for the second shot because with a tungsten that is the way I have to shoot it. Now I just grip and rip. BTW, it "feels softer" does matter, because I can shoot with a more relaxed grip with a "softer shooting gun," and relaxed for me means faster.
  7. Luis, I believe there is no consensus because we all see differently. If I could do what you reccomend, I would in a heart beat. You may see a "ghost" but I see two sharp, clear, crisp front sights. It is too distracting not to block one out with something (ie tape) If I focus so hard I can see one sight, I see two targets. So I will stick to my recommendation to read the thread, try them all, and use the one that works for you.
  8. Adam, Please do a search. This has been discussed a ton. You can always close an eye for LE porposes, although it is not optimum for competition purposes. If you can switch your eye dominance that would be awesome, I've been trying to do it for 5 years and it hasn't changed a bit. I use a black paster on the lense of my left eye and it works the best of anything I've tried, some prefer the clear tape, and some say they can just tilt their head.
  9. It does reduce felt recoil in my experience also. You should have no problems if you stay above 17lbs, sometimes 15lbs don't always hit the primer hard enough, but if I could get one that worked well at 15lbs, I would use it in a heartbeat.
  10. It's no problem. Just lean your head slightly to the right to bring the dominant eye into the line of sight and then sight the gun normally. We "normal" guys do exactly the same thing when we switch to shooting left handed, because the dom right eye is on the opposite side as the primary grip hand (so I tip my head slightly to the left). It's easy to learn to do it either way. If only it were so easy
  11. Eric, Um, how do you mis-place 10 cases of shotgun ammo? Your gargae is full, but not that full
  12. Cool target, I like the wooden fence in the background, it gives you extra incentive not to miss I use Standard targets, 10" steel plates, 6" steel squares and A US Popper. Paper plates work well, but shooting the same targets the same targets I see in a match seems to work better for me. I am in the process of making a couple swingers, because I hate shooting them.
  13. Where are his shoes? Maybe he was practicing walking on rice paper too.
  14. I was in awe after my 1st match. I thought I knew how to shoot. I realized I could only crawl and had a ton to learn, but I was hoooked.
  15. Detlef, That is open, and that was the drill he gave us 2 years ago here in Orgon. Just because somone can do it doesn't mean they are a GM or deserve to be. There is much more to GM than a standing 6 round drill. This is easier for me than the bill drill. Personally I find the upper a/b drill easier than all a's on the big zone because the aiming reference for me is easier on the upper a/b on the middle A zone there is less distinction between and A and C, I know when I blow a shot on the upper a/b. If you want to see it I can video it for you because I start and end nearly every practice with that drill. It is very boring to watch but if you would like to see it I can show you.
  16. Our host has great insight, talent, and a giving attitude that is top notch. I would have to agree with EricW about Dale S. being more than willing to help a fellow shooter, I had my gun break one match and he gave me ammo for the match for another gun I had just gotten. When I started shooting he helped me a ton, answering all my stupid questions without making me feel like an idiot. He is a good ambasador for the sport in my book. TGO is TGO, and TJ is TJ but I haven't had a personal experience with either. Jerry Barnhart, man the guy might not be the most talented, but his dedication to the sport, work ethic and attitude inspired me as a new shooter. His videos were my 1st intro into the sport. I think the guy is top notch. Travis Tomasie would have to be my choice also. I have met him several times informally and he the real deal. He is a gifted athlete, with tons of discipline and focus, his shooting is spectacular, but nothing can come close to the kind of man he is. When it comes down to it that is the biggest thing to admire in a shooter for me, the person behind the man/woman pulling the trigger, and TravisT is the real deal in my book.
  17. How about a 10" plates @ 15 yards, that is a solid hit on an IPSC target. For a beginner that is a good shot when you can do it solid. Franks Garcia gave me the goal of 6 shots 6 seconds upper a/b @ 25 yards 3 times in a row. I get it some days, somedays it just p*sses me of but if it were easy...
  18. If anyone is interested in helping set up stages for this year Nationals here in Bend, drop me a note. It would be a great opportunity for a few people who would like to get in on the Nationals experience. Setup begins on Aug 30th - 10th of Sept. Contact me for more info and more details. Don't delay in replying "special benefits" for volunteer work are very limited and distributed in a 1st come 1st served basis. Thanks all. ps. If don't have a slot to Nationals this might be just what you are looking for to get in on the action
  19. Detlef, don't lose hope, maybe someday you will be worthy (by TGO's def) to own a gun. It isn't easy, but it is very achievable. 2 second draw and .6 splits will get you there. Never give up, or at least empty your mags trying. 1.5" - 2" groups at 25' standing are world class in my book.
  20. VV N105, soft, clean and consistant.
  21. L10 3.34 1st string 4.15 2nd string 6.10 3rd string total= 13.59 86 points 6.3282 HF Shooting with my bum weakhand broke finger was not fun on the third string. Any tips on getting out of the chair? Leaning backward to start off was tricky, the first string I was still leaning back on my first 3 targets.
  22. Sig Lady, It is nice that you have embraced the dark side (1911's) so completely
  23. If it takes a lot of energy to make the bullet leave the case (ie. tight crimp) then you don't have that energy to push the bullet out the barrel with. I might be wrong on that, there are enough engineer types on hee to give you the scientific explanation, but that would be my guess.
