  1. @Merlin Orr, How has the Grendel done for you on the 500m Rams? Are you using any special ammo for them? When I was doing load development for my Dad, I was able to get a decent for me group on the static ram at the range. They were all in the heart lung area of the Silhouette. This was running Hornady Black with the 123g ELDM.
  2. Comancheros with John Wayne and Lee Marvin is a classic example. Post Texas Independence and they are using 1892 Winchesters?
  3. Lonnie Mack Radio on Pandora. Exposing JR to other music than what is contemporaries claim to listen to.
  4. I came across this hat on another forum today, it looked interesting, but I’m moving towards fishing shirts and other coverups. https://www.ar15buildbox.com/shop/Enhanced-Lightweight-Boonie-Hats.htm
  5. I think that the “B” has had some modifications/upgrades through the years. When I found my second 550 in a pawn shop, I sent it back to Dillon and they went through it completely. Well worth the money and time. BTW that 550 is still going strong.
  6. @Rudukai13, That write up from Uncle Fudd is an excellent distillation of this thread with good use of your photography. My only quibble would be to have the “Shroud” anodized to match the Bluing on the cylinder/barrel, but that is me. FWIW, one of my SASS Pards and I wanted to get a brace of Schofields when they were first reproduced in the mid ‘90’s and shoot an IPSC/USPSA match with them using HKS speed loaders and Black Powder Cowboy loads for $#!@$ N Grins That would have Been Atascadero about 1995/6, but being poor college students it was just an idea.
  7. One of my Dillons and a single stage are mounted on something similar. I have a plow disk welded to a 4” piece of pipe with a 1/4” plate welded to that. It works fairly well when sitting on a chunk of carpet. The only time I need to add weight to the base is when I’m forming brass on the SS.
  8. @Rudukai13, I showed this to a fellow instructor and he is very impressed with this build.
  9. I had to dig out my Mec, since I have not been able to find any 20 gauge trap loads locally.
  10. I’m probably leaning to the conservative side, but I would be leery of shooting the leverloution in a Schofield. I know that the locking mechanism is not as strong as a Ruger Blackhawk or a Freedom Arms, having shot all three. The standard target loads below it should be fine, since they are rated for older Colts. The Leverloutions that I shot in my 44 Mag were recoiling similar to hot CorBon loads (Ruger Blackhawk). They may be good for a couple shots though. If you want fun, find some BlackHills or 10x Black Powder Cowboy Loads. Plenty of recoil and flame.
  11. I live in a HOT and dry part of California, my powders stored in old ice chests to moderate the temperature and what little humidity we get. The bigger issue for me is being able to load during the hot season, a fan is a must along with the garage being insulated. other than that, I have not had a problem with my reloads.
  12. I hate that in the last two years my travel trailer hasn’t gone more than 10 miles from the homestead! Well used for Cub Scout Day Camps and horse training seminars, but work and life has limited us to day tripping.
  13. @Mike8623, I think you might be able to make a shell plate that will work, but the dimensions for the press window may cancel this. I can/have loaded 45-70 using the AT 500 powder funnel. The problem that I see is the brass and bullet lengths to be able to get the bullet on the case at station 3. Is there enough room between the case mouth and the seating die mout to get a 500gr bullet in with minimal effort? Will it even fit? I am curious about your results.
  14. Thanks Mark, holsters are not the problem as much as magazine pouches and a belt. The Wild Bunch Rig solves the problem nicely. I’m looking forward to the double takes by the other shooters though. We had a small showing, even though the weather was perfect. Too many other events happening locally.
  15. @MHicks, that is the plan or hope. The down side is April to November, I’m running the SASS match at Hat Creek. We had a great shoot at Redding this morning, you would have enjoyed it. Thank You to everyone for the feedback. @ChuckS, thanks, I couldn’t remember the exact reason/rule that pushed me into open. BTW the cost of this rig has gone up significantly since I bought it years ago.
  16. I am in a bit of a quandary. My son wants to start shooting USPSA and we have 3 Single Stack Pistols and several holster rigs. He fits in my SS rig consisting of a comp-tac holster, Blackhawk mag pouches and DAA inner and outer belt. I also have a Ted Blocker SASS Wild Bunch rig that I can use without buying another setup. A few years ago when I did my USPSA Rangemaster class, I was bumped to open for this rig. In reading the rules (2021) I am not sure if I would need to shoot Limited 10 with this or Single Stack. Either way, it is what I have. Thank You,
  17. You guys are really making me feel bad about missing it this year.
  18. A different game, but we use 16” sections of 3” well casing for targets in Cowboy Action. It is definitely noticeable s to who has cylinder bores verses chokes when shooting at them. What really stinks are trying to move 16”-18” sections of 2” HDPE pipe across a line. Some times you turn them 90* to the shooter and then burn up a box of ammo to move the pipe 5’. What this comes down to is that I prefer #7.5 or larger shot with a modified choke to deal with any pipe or similar target. Also knowing what your pattern looks like at various distances can be critical. I have had to coach side by side shooters to look down the barrel, not to rely on the bead to hit pipes.
  19. Why not get a Colt Lightning or Thunderer instead? https://www.gunbroker.com/item/928450221
  20. Put the barrel in the freezer overnight. Take it out in the morning and run a bore brush down from the muzzle. The brass should have contracted enough compared to the steel to be pushed out.
  21. It never fails! Fell through the floor in the bathroom and now it is in full remodel. Materials are really difficult to get and we only have the ONE bathroom!
  22. I had the opportunity, but had to decline for other reasons. I’d still like to go though.
