  1. What? No Duck tape, bailing wire, or WD40? <shudder> Back to topic: People thinking WD40 is THE lubricant
  2. You get excited when you find vintage and esoteric cartridge boxes and ammo while out yard sailing or prowling antique (junk) shops. I just inherited a box of Remington Express RX12RS Extra Long Range rifled slugs in their original box with the warning: “These shells must not be used in guns having Damascus or Twist Steel Barrels“
  3. Two truer statements made here with LOTS of experience to back them up.. (Mine included! )
  4. Knowing enough to screw things up and then having to go to the professional to make everything right.

  6. I hate that some of my favorite threads have stalled out and can’t get them jump started again.
  7. Thank You Everyone, I am waiting on the shipper for the package from Uniquetek to wind the Primer Magazine tips and Upgraded Primer Slide Bearings to my door step. This is one place where I am hoping that will reduce or eliminate sideways and flipped primers in the reloads.

  9. Around here they were kvetching about the heat and fire danger, now the same k-noodle heads are whining about the flooding since we have gotten rain.
  10. I have a pair of mid to late 90’s vintage 550’s and have been noticing that the place on the frame where the primer slide rides is becoming a bit worn and difficult to clean. After looking on Dillon’s web page and wandering through Uniquetek’s page I saw that they now come with a bearing plate. Is this a drop in upgrade that is on the newer machines or will I have to send my presses back to Dillon to have them upgraded? I have no clue as to the round counts on either press, but I am estimating between 20K and 30K on each. I still have the original white primer magazine tips on the primer magazines, although they may need to be replaced soon hence looking on Uniquetek’s site. Thanks,
  11. what Gun are you loading for and what power? All of my 38 spl have a moderate crimp into the crimp grove because they also get shot in lever action rifles (CAS). This is to prevent bullet setback from the magazine spring. For a straight sided bullet, I would probably try a moderate taper crimp (38 Super FCD comes to mind).
  12. I noticed this tonight on one of my 550b’s. Out of 200 rounds, I had 7 sideways primers that made it into cases. When I checked the magazine tip, it’s white. Probably time to order a new one then.
  13. My standbys have been Unique, Trail Boss, 2400, and FFFg. The easiest to load is FFFg, just fill there’s and cram a bullet on top. If you want a fire ball for night/twilight shoots, this is THE load! Clean-up is a breeze with HOT soapy water too. For those of you who don’t know, FFFg is a fine grade of Black Powder. For lye last few years, I’ve only been loading Cowboy Action loads: 200gr cast RNFP on 6.5gr of Unique lit by a WLP. Magnum loads are 240gr Cast GCSWC over 18.0gr 2400 lit by a CCI LPM.
  14. Tonight I’m listening to Frank Sinatra Radio on Pandora.
  15. I’m actually using a rain cover from a large external frame backpack.
  16. Lefty, that’s a good one. Hank Jr.’s version just played on my Pandora. this was playing as I typed.
  17. How did you know what we have been drinking?
  18. Dranoel, That’s easy since we use the same load for everything that involves 38 Spl except CCW. 3.5 gr Clays, 125 gr cast Truncated Cone. YKYMBAS if….. You still buy cheap coffee to be able to have the tins (jugs) for brass and ammo storage.

  20. Cuz I like that idea, but right now he will be using my USPSA setup with an upgraded holster. If he likes and continues with USPSA, we will upgrade the mag carriers. I will probably carry my extra two mags in the back pocket for now.
  21. Cuz, I was just looking and the Ted Blocker Double Mag Carrier is $80! That’s almost what I paid for 4 Blackhawk! Mag carriers. Quick side note, a Blackhawk! Single Stack mag carrier will comfortably hold a Leatherman Wave while a double stack will hold a Leatherman Surge
  22. Everyone, Thanks for the input. I am waiting for the nod from my book keeper (wife) before purchasing. I’m leaning towards the Bladetech Classic, because we have been happy with hers (Springfield EMP 9). The comp Tac is high up there too. I’m probably going to get/make some belt keepers for the Ted Blocker rig and get a third matching mag pouch.
  23. Greetings All, My Jr is burnt out on CAS and showing some interest in shooting USPSA. We will be shooting Single Stack/L-10 and I am looking for suggestions that will not bust the bank. I have my SS rig from some years ago (CR Speed I/O belt, Blackhawk Mag Carriers, and Blackhawk SERPA) and my Ted Blocker “Wild Bunch” rig from CAS. I am looking at replacing the SERPA and possibly build a second rig. He’ll be shooting my back-up 1911 in 9mm.
