  1. Memory serves, Jansen Jones and Rob Romero of the Noveske Shooting Team both use AFG's. Watched them at Ozark and they put them to good use stabilizing on walls for longer shots. I've got one on my truck rifle and it's okay. Just haven't spent a lot of time with it.
  2. Nope, not legal for Production IMHO. But Amidon would be the final word on that.
  3. And of course the page that everyone needs to check out is the Area 1 Sponsors. Carol McGlasson at the Albany Rifle and Pistol Club did a great job of contacting sponsors this year. Although I have to say several of them contacted us wanting to help out. Gonna be a great year.
  4. I actually logged in for the first time yesterday....that's what it said in the morning. It took me trying a time or two before I actually read it though.
  5. Updated squad list (as of this morning) posted and Tim's awesome stage diagrams posted as well on www.uspsa1.org
  6. You're on Squad 45. Sat PM/Sun AM. I talked to Mike and he said he's emailed you several times with no response. Not sure where the breakdown is, but you're in.
  7. Will the Gen 3 Tac-Grip work on a Gen 4 21 SF? Also, I'm not used to using the tape that doesn't wrap around the back. Do you have any trouble with the tape shifting forward?
  8. I don't see any reason why those wouldn't work on a Gen 3. Looks like the mag release cut might be a bit larger than needed but nothing that would have any effect. The front of the grip is pretty much the same dimensions as a Gen 3. Now when is the Glock 21 tape coming out?
  9. Sorry, that is not what I'm seeing. I'm actually seeing decent numbers in Limited. In fact I think the Midwest 3-Gun had more in Limited than they did in Open. What are you basing this statement on? Besides, it has been less than 1 year since that change went into effect at any major match. I think it's a little early to be making any statements about participation.
  10. First things first is to build a resume of performance. If you're a natural and start winning matches right out the gate, and I mean IDPA Nationals, USPSA Nationals or Area matches, you might be able to get a jump on it. Otherwise, you're looking at 5-10 years of shooting and building up some knowledge base. It took me about 10 years before I started seeing any return on my investment in shooting. This year is the first I'll actually turn a profit and I got really lucky at one match. Don't worry about being the match winner. There are several folks out there that can pull off big wins but aren't sponsored or sponsored in a very minimal way. Take a look at the USPSA Nationals. Last couple years we've had 3-4 National Champions who weren't sponsored, or were sponsored at the free T-shirt level. It's about more than winning matches. Sponsors don't really care if you're the SSP Champion of Western Nevada for 2009. They do care about the image you present to other shooters. I know a lot of shooters with decent sponsorship deals who have never won. But they are terrific champions for their sponsors products. They learn about them, they talk about them and they shoot them well. Don't trash products. I just listened to some sponsored shooters go off on rants about how bad something is, only to turn around and look for sponsorship from that same vendor a year later. Good luck and good bye to credibility. That said, don't accept sponsorship from something you don't believe in. You won't be happy with your performance, you won't represent the sponsor well and you'll sour them on sponsoring anyone in the future. Don't expect a lot from sponsors. I've had a bunch that I started off with a bit of product or discounts. Because of those relationships, both with the companies and folks they recommended me to, like Warne recommending me to Leupold, I've starting bringing in a lot more. It won't be enough to live off of, but it does take some of the sting out of the training bill at the end of the year.
  11. I've had 150 of them. I've built rifles or completed 40 or so of the lowers. Best I've worked with. If you're looking for a milspec style lower you can't go wrong with them. the trigger adjustment screw is really handy if you're looking for a better than stock pull but not a race trigger.
  12. Yep. Talked to him the other day. He's back up and running. Two or three weeks now. He's working about 16 hours a day trying to catch up with the backlog of orders.

  14. Try scoring NRA AP-1 and D-1 targets that don't have a non-scoring border. Each time you have to examine the entire outer edge of the target for the smallest hint of a bullet impact. It's a real pain in the butt. That non-scoring border is a huge time saver.
  15. Ok, I think I've got everything up on the website. Stages, Squadding and Schedule. If anyone needs anything else put up, let me know. If you have a question for match staff, please contact Mike McCarter at nomikes@hotmail.com www.uspsa1.org
  16. Any shot at getting the stage times posted? Kind of want to see how I fared between the matches.
  17. So if the SS shooter running minor shows up with 10 round mags and doesn't have to reload on the 10 round array, you don't see a competetive dis advantage? As far as Speed Shoots with 16 rounds being too much, don't make them 16 rounds. You can always run a 12 round Speed Shoot if you'd like. Or a 10, or 13, or whatever, as long as it's not more than 16.
  18. Sure you can...wait, we are talking about my cat Stupid aren't we? Stupid cat, stupid cat!
  19. I've got a brand new Safariland holster and a brand new Sig. Mine had the light rail and required a bit of fitting. The trigger guard fit fine though. Great holster
  20. Safariland for me.
  21. In and paid for L10 and Production
  22. Stage diagrams, schedule, squadding were all sent out to everyone who is registered for the match and had a legible email address on the registration form. There were a bunch with the address missing, illegible or they just bounced. If you sent in your registration and haven't received anything, please email MD Mike McCarter directly. His email is nomikes@hotmail.com Also please check with your friends and let them know this. If they haven't received the info and they sent in a registration, something was off with their email.
  23. I read all his stuff as a kid but hadn't thought about his stuff in years. Thanks for the reminder. Might have to do some digging and figure out where those books went.
  24. Many of the stages had you either putting your shotgun in with your rifle or rifle in with your shotgun. And at least one RO was very specific that you could only have one gun out at a time so they both had to be in there getting scratched and beat up. Really sucked with a 12 round Saiga mag on the shotgun. Not really any way to set that one in their so it doesn't take up the whole barrel. My brand new gun is trashed now. Had to happen sooner or later, I just would have preferred later. As far as fixing it, have two barrels side by side. And yes they were on the ground at an angle. Worked really well they just needed more and padding.
  25. No way. The red ones get hot. The blue ones stay cool and icy.
