  1. So everyone that had beers during the BBQ last year was breaking the law?
  2. Heading to the airport now. On my way. Midwest 3 Gun this weekend and on the practice range starting Sunday afternoon. See everyone there!! I'll be the one with Anderson written in very tiny subtle letters on the back of my shirt.
  3. Sorry. Not blue color blind and I've been tested several times for work. What else ya got?
  4. Yeah, I do keep both eyes open. Still washed out.
  5. Yep, the folks that received slots for performance at Nationals, Area matches, and slots awarded to the local clubs are due back on May 23. Some people will return their slots unused, some people will forget. This is what will allow people in on the waitlist. The number is different every year. Sometime after May 23rd, normally a week or two there will be a big move on the waitlist as the unused slots are tallied and the match openings are determined. After that it will slow to a trickle as people drop out, waitlist slots expire unused etc. The lower your number the better your chances of getting in. But I would be pretty confident in that first 60 of getting a slot. It also depends on which match. One will have more demand and more people will have signed up for it. Short answer, there is no set number of people that will be allowed in on the waitlist, that's why they open it to as many people as want to sign up.
  6. I had a Reflex for a while. Had issues with the tint in a training class. They had some poppers painted blue. Couldn't see them at all. Just totally disappeared. That's the last tinted scope I bought. I am kicking around the idea of picking up a Pris. Just waiting till I can get one with the CM-R2 reticle that matches my SPR and CQ/T.
  7. I've used the Magpul CTR, UBR and PRS for three gun. I'm currently using the UBR and love it. I've got an ACS that's going on my next build to try out. How is the height of the LMT SOPMOD with your scope. If it's good I wouldn't worry about running the PRS unless you need the adjustable cheekpiece. As far as the weight of the stocks it's normally not too big of an issue since its at the rear of the gun. Just changes the balance point to closer to your strong hand. I like the way it balances with a heavy stock.
  8. Hopefully you've got a more reliable truck than you did last year. And yes, I'm knocking on wood as I type this.
  9. Can't be that much muddier than the roads at the Ozark match last year. I tried taking my rental Taurus to the car wash afterwards and they wouldn't let me in.
  10. I left it off because it's a horrible idea.
  11. I do think it's an advantage to put a dot on a rifle, although Kurt would disagree. I know for me it's a wash on the pistol whether there is an advantage or not, but I spend a lot of time behind pistol iron sights. On a shotgun I think it's a wash. Long slugs would be a bit quicker, but close clays would probably be faster with a bead. So if a dot on a rifle is an advantage, why allow it? Because there weren't enough Limited/Iron shooters to really have a division. Heck Trooper at the Ironman has more shooters than the big 3 Gun matches have in Irons. There are a crapload of new AR owners out there after 2008. Many of them bought red dots for their rifles just like they saw on the TV. Give them a place to play. Sorry it's in your place but that's the downside of shooting with the tiniest group of people. The choice for many matches, and this was definitely a consideration when I voted yes on it for USPSA, was either do away with the division for lack of participation or find a way to get some more people to shoot it.
  12. If I could beat Bruce and every other person at the Cup after two weeks practice with an Open gun it wouldn't really say much for the skill level at that match and it wouldn't really be setting my sights that high would it? That said, I do want to hit 1910 with the Open gun and 1900 with the Metallic. Just gotta make sure I get all them pesky plates.
  13. What a rip off. You should just sell that defective RTF2 SF to me and buy a gun that has the proper holes in it.
  14. Okay stitches are out, mags are swapped, both guns are running. Extra high pad for Metallic gun installed, still need to add another 1/2 inch or so to the open gun. Feeling pretty good now. I have one more practice day on Wednesday, then I'm on a plane to KC. Midwest 3 Gun this weekend and onto the practice range. Bruce I'm coming for you (you know, to shake your hand, not to beat you or anything, I'm not that dumb )
  15. So who do I email or call about changing squads? I'm stuck shooting with that Kurt "Iron Sight" Miller and I don't want his icky irons to get all over my beautiful open guns. Just kidding Kurt. But I am traveling with another guys 17 year old kid that they put on a different squad and I'm guessing someone is going to want me to keep an eye on him. Although it would be nice to drop his wise ass off with someone else for the weekend.
  16. The mating surface between the upper and lower receiver is significantly wider on the CTR-02. The upper and lower fit is really tight without being impossible to tear down. It has an integral mag well. Not huge but plenty for loading.
  17. I'm looking forward to it as well. Got my Metallic gun sighted in, doesn't run 100%, got my Open gun from the smith last Thursday, doesn't run 90%. I cut open the end of my thumb trying to epoxy on a magwell extension and have 4 stitches in the end of it, my left wrist is sprained from God knows what, my holster for the open gun won't give the gun up and I still haven't figured out how to get the Open gun out of the holster, into my left hand and against the barricade in time. Yep, I'm ready. I'm really hoping the reliability issues are all mag related, I'm pretty sure they are and I'll be picking up a new set tonight, the cut should heal by then. Safariland is taking awesome care of me on the holster, serves me right for buying someone elses used problem child, the wrist I'm just going to have to deal with. I'm hoping the barricade thing will sort itself out when I get a holster I can actually get the gun out of. On the upside that Open gun is really awesome. I haven't shot it for groups yet at 50. Just sighting it in at 25 Yds of the barricade was a bit of a weird experience though, shoot three, only one hit on the target. Took me about three groups before I realized they were all going into the same hole. Maybe .40 outside to outside? That Doug Carden makes some good ammo.
  18. Thanks for the offer. I'll probably take you up on it next year if you do the same. I try to get ot the practice range on Monday anyway and I fly into KC. This year I've got a couple others travelling with me, including a Jr. that will be his first three gun and first Bianchi.
  19. Schedule: Thursday Registration: 5:00-7:00 PM Friday-Registration: 7:00-8:30 AM Shooters Meeting: 8:45-9:00 AM Match starts: 9:00-12:00 Lunch: 12:00-1:00 Match: 1:00-5:00 Saturday-Match Starts: 8:00 AM Lunch: 12:00-1:00 Match: 1:00-5:00 Sunday-Match Starts: 8:00 AM Team Event: 10:00-11:00 AM 3Gun Nation: 11:00 This is the schedule off the website. When I registered the 3 Gun Nation guys still didn't have a final schedule out. That combined with Andy's 3 Gun National Championship Points Series, which this I think is a part of, is confusing the heck out of me. It's not a slam on Chad or Pete. I'm starting to see why this is not a 3 Gun Nation match this year.
  20. I guess this is the part that is frustrating me the most. I've heard that dumping is OK, I've heard that I don't have to go to the meeting, I've heard a bunch of stuff, but it's all second hand. I really don't want to get there an pull a Neth. (Sorry Dave). It would be nice to have the actual match rules available to out of area folks more than a week before the match.
  21. I'd be surprised if Chad is there at this one. If it's not 3GN I don't see him coming. That said, I'm not surprised they didn't include this match this year. This is my first time going. If it's wasn't for Bianchi, I would have already cancelled the trip. I've never seen this level of planning and communication out of a match this size. The rules listed on the website may or may not be accurate, the schedule almost certainly isn't, Do I need to attend a class to shoot or not, can I dump a hot, safe gun? I would imagine part of the confusion about the 3GN thing is because they have the 3GN shootoff listed on the webpage as part of the schedule.
  22. Chuck, (John?), Does the highlighted portion above apply only to "table starts"? Not John either, but my read of it is it doesn't only apply to table starts. The way the rule is written (not intended) could have made the simple act of reloading, bringing the magazine to the gun in front of the centerline of your hip, a bump to Open. This is just to clarify, and basically add, another location magazines can be, pouches and allied equipment, gun and hands. If it's in a pouch or allied equipment (magnets, pockets, secret magazine storage device you've designed that's springloaded and fires a magazine at your gun dramatically reducing reloading time) it's gotta be behind the hip. If it's in the hand or gun it can be in front of the hip.
  23. Chuck- Does this mean I can mount a magnet to my belt right in front and use it on a table start stage? It seems like this opens the door completely once the WSB forces me not to use my pouches. Why would you think that a ruling allowing you to carry magazines in your hand would allow you to do anything other than carry ammunition in the hand? We had an earlier version of the ruling that might have allowed shenanigans like this. I can't see how this one does though. And sure, I would imagine you can shoot stages without mag pouches, but you'll be holding all your spare ammo in your hand. Good luck with that.
