  1. Does it lock back on an empty mag after the last shot?
  2. Build up of crap and carbon at the crown that was uniform but changed when you pulled the FH off. Just a guess though.
  3. Maybe, but joining GSSF also gets you 1 cert/year for a Glock at LE prices, the annual, and a bunch of other cool stuff. After 11 years of not shooting GSSF , I thought I'd do it again. I found out that as of May 2011, the certificate eligibility changed. GSSF members must wait 12 months before obtaining the discount certificate. Which means 2 membership renewals. http://www.gssfonline.com/GSSF_Pistol_Purchase_Program_Information.pdf This p----d me off so I did not join and I bought an M&P when S&W ran a rebate and I was money ahead. Now I shoot SWSSF. Tease! I wish there was an SWSSF. I'd actually buy a Smith.
  4. Not sure how important the Tombstone Reticle is anymore. With the big black dot in the center of the target I think a lot of people are just using a regular dot. A mover base from Toolguy takes care of the moving target leads, or you can dial in for the mover. I have a Caspian shroud on my gun. Not sure if they have them in stock.
  5. Got to shoot a couple last month. Seemed very nice. The machining is incredible. They said you can take any part from any gun and swap it out and it will fit perfectly. Felt just like a hand fit top notch 1911. I've got a customer that ordered one so when it shows I'll see another one.
  6. Nope. I have a match I have to run that weekend. I'll be back for a try at my Scoped Tactical crown again though.
  7. Is this the same date for registration for the Pro AM? Might make for a very busy, very expensive day before Valentines.
  8. Ken has been letting folks in in small groups. I think the weekend portion is either full or only has a couple emergency spots left open. He's mostly filling up the prematch now. He also had some sponsor slots he kept open. At least that was what I heard 10 days ago when I talked to him.
  9. If you just registered I'd say your chances are pretty much non existent. If you registered during the months Area 1 residents were guaranteed spots you would have gotten in.
  10. Are you registered? On the wait list? Just now showing up for the party?
  11. Yes made legal Jan 1, 2013. Along with basically anything other than optics comps and mags over 141.25 mm
  12. I hope Glen will be there. I have a shiny new Seekins mag button and now I need to buy the rest of the parts to build a rifle to put it on.
  13. For some reason my DVR doesn't want to record this series. Same with 3GN. I have to manually go in an set each show to record. I keep missing episodes and it's really annoying.
  14. The classification system will eventually include a breakdown if all the divisions. Since this is still early and we expected changes to be made as we go along the decision was made to start with an overall class system and ranking system. Get the bugs sorted out of that. Make sure shooters were okay with it and then branch into other divisions. Kind of like the way smart people (read that as other than me) make changes to their guns. One thing at a time, then another. All the data has been captured as its coming in to HQ so any scores you have in the different divisions will be easy to split out when the time comes. Somebody asked about flight times. They are no more. The new rule book did away with the flight time calculation and electronic stop plate. Time simply stops on the last shot. All records going forward will be classed differently to account for this. Ie per and post 2013 records. How do you like the class and ranking system otherwise. Are the breakdowns where they should be? Does it make sense? Should we change anything?
  15. I had the gun for less than five minutes. (I was still in the post office parking lot) when I started bleeding on it. The lightening cuts up front in conjunction with the Tribrid barrel make for a very sharp surface. I've usually racking the back of the slide but I figured I'd try the front on this one since I had them put the serrations up there to try. I won't be doing that again. Short answer, dunno.
  16. What do you want to shoot? I have a 1:32 in my Bianchi gun. Works great with 115 XTPs and works just fine with FMJ 115. It does not work with 147s. At all. You can get really excellent 5 round groups but it normally takes 6 rounds to do it because one of those little buggers will have wandered off. Unless you're going to focus on NRA AP or need extreme accuracy I'd stick to the standard twist barrel. There is a reason it's standard.
  17. How about operating it as a business? If I took a month at my job to publish meeting minutes, there would be a severe talking to taking place. The next day is acceptable. You have to do meetings of meetings at your business? I'm glad I don't, I'd never get anything done. BTW, since you want us to operate this like a business, that means I get paid right? I mean I'm all for volunteering my time but if someone wants me to pass on my holiday plans and my real job to get some minutes out, that means I get paid like it's a real job. You actively sought out that job, right? Ran for it? Got elected to it? Absolutely. And I'll do the best I can with the time I have available. I'm willing to make a lot of sacrifices for USPSA and have. Pissing off my wife and kid at Christmas time is not one of them. BTW, technically you are wrong at this point. I did actively seek out the position in 2009 for the term from 2010-2012, and win the election. However there were no other candidates in 2012 so no election was held. As of 2013, I wasn't voted in. I'm just the only guy dumb enough to take the job.
  18. The rule was voted on on 2011 to go into effect in January. The rule was posted in the BOD meeting minutes and in Front Sight. It is in effect now. I don't really know where the questions about this are coming from. We don't publish a new rule book every time a rule is changed. If someone needs verification point them to the Dec, 2011 BOD minutes that show the revised Appendices for Lim and Lim 10. To Robbie, yeah have at it with barrel weights, thumb rests, whatever. Basically no ports/comps, no optics and a 141.25mm restriction on mags.

  20. The Historian is intended to preserve the history of USPSA. From the beginning to now. Not just so people can see pictures of a young goofy looking Rob Leatham instead of a geriatric goofy looking Rob Leatham. The hope is that we can also preserve what has been done before, what the reasons we did it are, and what happened as a result. A lot of things coming down the pipe are a result of decisions made by people who are long off the BOD. Some of them aren't even alive anymore. Heck, that's a reason to do it now. A lot of the pioneers of USPSA and IPSC are, well getting on a bit. If we pass on the opportunity to document our history now, it may not be around to do in the future. I'm not saying it should be done at the exclusion of a webmaster or someone to add content to the website and social media sites. But that is a decision the ED can make without BOD approval and when I talked to Dave at the meeting he said the job announcement had just gone out to fill the position you want us to have.
  21. Sure, but it might be after SHOT. I'm trying to get ramped up for that combined with being gone from work for a week.
  22. Yeah, but I've also seen USPSA shooters bested by Top Shot winners once you take USPSA out of their comfort zone. I've shot with Iain for awhile. I can beat him every time at USPSA and probably three gun. But once you get a little farther into the weeds and start shooting oddball weapons that I'm not familiar with he's gonna take me to school everytime. Iain is a remarkably talented natural shooter. The winners of that show have that ability to adapt. They may not be able to pick up a new sport and dominate it, but I'd be willing to bet any of the top 3 could take a year of practice and a bit of instruction from a couple of the really good GM instructors and come back and be a top ranked competitor.
  23. Here is a pic of the setup I've been running since 2000 (this was my backup bought in 2004 but hardly shot). New one is built by M2i Custom, Schuemann Tribrid barrel, *thumb rest [generic]*, L/W dust cover, and Extreme Shooters grip.
  24. I finally got around to taking pics this last weekend but haven't had a chance to post. The *thumb rest [generic]* is interesting. I have not had enough time to get fully used to it. I did a test a couple weeks ago. Another guy and I shot a bunch of guns to see what the "best" one was. He had some real difficulties taking the safety off on the gun with the *thumb rest [generic]*. I still need to sit down with a calculator to figure out the data. Subjectively I liked the new gun the best and thought it had the best handling characteristics, except on drills where I needed to reload. I've never practiced that with the pedal and it took a bit of time to reaquire the grip.
