  1. Salem, about a half hour or less away, also has several brew pubs. Trust me, there's plenty of good beer in Oregon.
  2. I know that everything possible was done to not have to change the location. It couldn't be avoided though. That said I think Albany is a great choice. They just expanded the range and number of bays. The club is great to work with and is giving us the run of the whole range. The downside will be shorter range on the MOR match. My understanding is this will just mean a lot smaller targets. If anyone is interested in why we're not at Bend PM me and I'll try to stay positive and upbeat regarding the "gentlemen" on the board at Bend.
  3. I still don't think a better gun has been made than the Glock 17. Glock's first attempt and they definitely got it right. Set of sights, little bit of Tru-Grip and you're ready to race. If you want there are plenty of well documented ways to do a trigger job. You can basically carry enough spare parts to replace anything that might break (Really unlikely on a 17, more likely on some of the other models). There is no easier gun to detail strip and play with.
  4. Mines the slab side bbl version. I think I would rather stick to a more conventional style holster. I don't think that I need a huge amount of speed for PPC. I normally finish the strings long before I need to. So where is a good place to get a deal on a 002?
  5. The Cup Challenge was the one I was looking at, just wasn't sure it would work with the BBL weight.
  6. I picked up a S&W Model 10, Bill Davis model for PPC. It has the Aristocrat rib, 6" bull slab side bbl and an under bbl weight. Any ideas on a holster for shooting PPC with?
  7. I'd go even if it was only a Factory Gun only type match. Just as long as Jim Norman doesn't try using those IPSC rules I know he loves so much.
  8. I've taken a number of classes and learned from every one. Some were better than others though. some of the best: Frank Garcia (methods of practice), Travis Thomasie (Course Analysis and how to speed transitions), Insights Training Academy, H&K, Firearms Academy of Seattle. Some of the ones that were good but didn't apply that much to IPSC: Thunder Ranch, John Farnam, Massad Ayoob and Louis Awerbuck. One I did not enjoy was MISS. Although I understand they have some new staff since I was there last which might solve the problems I had. I'm looking forward to my next class at the Florida Open with Eric Grauffel
  9. Looks like I got in a bit late for the BE squad. Any idea when/where on the dinner?
  10. Yep, I about lost an eye to a Glock 19C. It's more as a toy than anything else.
  11. I picked up a Nowlin 45 comp and wanted to build a 45 carry comp gun. I wanted to keep the 5" overall length. The comp is 1.45" long. Looks like I need to use an Officers model slide. What do I need to do, or is it even possible to use this slide on a Gov't model frame?
  12. I don't shoot matches as a live fire simulation of anything. I do it because I enjoy shooting at these matches in challenging stages and hanging out with and meeting new people. If anybody thinks these are by any means based on tactical situations they are sadly mistaken. None of the shootings that I have been involved in ever required a Beta C-Mag or half the crap we carry when shooting these matches. You want it to be tactical, wear body armor. I have yet to see anyone do this at a three gun match and I have yet to see anyone knowingly go to a gun fight without it, well except for the dead bad guys and I'd just as soon not be associated with them.
  13. While there haven't been a rash of AD's from dropped guns in normal life. I don't know many people that run around the New Mexico countryside, crawling and rolling and squirming into position.
  14. I tried the Counterpoise Recoil kit by Armforte. I think somone else is making the same system now. This is the kit with the sliding weight on the buffer. Worked really well in a 16". Gave it up when I switched to 20" guns. If you're interested I think I've got it laying around still.
  15. He also has a new glue that should help with any adhesion problems you have because of the checkering.
  16. I really wouldn't consider IPSC fair either. It is a manufacturers division. In USPSA I can take a gun from any manufacturer and install a nice barrel, fiber optic sights, do a trigger job, etc. In effect take just about any gun and make it competetive. In IPSC you're going to see one of a few guns start to take a lead, because the factories are willing to make guns specifically for PD. For example the Tanfoglio Custom Stock or whatever it's called. It's a limited gun in 9mm with a DA first shot. Everything else is the same. Yet I can't install a fiber optic sight on my Glock because Glock doesn't put one on. This seems ridiculous to me. And Pat, in regards to your comment about the additions to the XD, (Bar-Sto bbl, Bo-Mar sight, and trigger job). Every one of those things can be done by the Springfield Custom shop. And come out as a factory gun.
  17. Who do we report errors in the Calculator to? I tried the email link on the page but it bounced back. There are a couple, at least on the Production side, that I think may be a bit on the high side. For example the HHF on 03-14 is 120. Not sure I could do that with a minigun.
  18. I'll be there tommorrow and back to shooting the tupperware. Shooting my 686 in minor with Comp 2 speedloaders may not have been the smartest plan. If I do make it to Barry, I definitely won't be shooting a wheelgun, I suck. What I was thinking for Area 1 was some shoot throughs. We're running the RO's on the 14-15. We're also opening this up to some folks to shoot through the match. This is becuase of conflicts like IRC and Area 3. We'll also do it for sponsors who want to work the tables during the match. We haven't figured out how many people we can let shoot-through, it's just too early to tell. If you're interested let me know. It would be push but it should be possible to shoot the whole match on the 14th and fly down for the IRC. Area 1 is going to be a kick butt match this year. Great location, great staff, we already have over 30 sponsors signed up and more saying yes every day.
  19. We'd love to have more revolver shooters at the Area 1 match. For those planning on shooting the ICORE IRC send me a PM and I'll see if there's a way you can do both. Chuck (leaving now to go shoot my first IPSC match with a wheelgun)
  20. So if I get this right. One Area match (Times 2) Two State/Sectional matches One other Level III Match Can other Area matches be used for the "other Level III Match"? There look to only be 5 other Level III matches (Other than Nationals and Area matches)
  21. I have no idea how much I'll get back from the points series. This was the first year that I actually made a push for it. I finished up second in Production behind Dave Sevigny. However, there was only 9 shooters in Production. I doubt if I'll even get my $100.00 back. But it was a fun year and I shot a few matches that I wouldn't have otherwise.
  22. You definitely won't make money shooting the points series. By the time you factor in the money spent travelling to matches, no way. However, if you want to travel to some matches the points series does give you an excuse to do so. It's just that little nudge that makes the decision to fly cross country a bit easier.
  23. June 9 is the day that the earned slots are due back. After that they start fulfilling the wait list. Not sure when you would know for sure.
  24. We're also considering doing a class after the match. Is there any interest in this? If so send me a PM with what you're looking for, and who you want to instruct it. No guarantees but I'll see what we can do.
  25. My guess would be because USPSA wants a World Shoot capable range. Holding the event there gets them at least two nationals shots 2006 and 2007, before having to state their case before the general assembly. USSA is our best shot at holding a World Shoot in the US. I think it's worth the risk. And after talking to Tom, I can pretty much guarantee that if he says it'll be done...it'll be done.
