  1. 1:8. I have now cleaned down to the bare metal, soaked it on Weapon Shield overnight, and will head out with some match grade ammunition and bench it.
  2. I have seven in my bag, and rotate them through the four pouches on my belt.
  3. I'm a little spoiled, I guess. I have a Taran Tactical that functions perfectly with the same HPR loads, but it's also broken in (by someone else). I'll try a few more boxes of different loads and see how it does. The AE stuff has always worked for me, but who knows?
  4. I have an AR question for the group... I have a brand new AR (POF if it matters). It will not reliably load or extract some brands of cartridges (HPR 55gr SP if it matters), and is printing 2+" groups at 50 yards with American Eagle 55 gr. Send it back? Shoot it in to break it in? Try more loads to see if anything gets better? Is there an AR doctor in the house?
  5. I agree! I'd buy a P229 Legion SAO today if they had them. Absolutely! I would buy one in a heartbeat. Also, apropos the OP, I think the Legion grip is far superior to the 320 grip.
  6. From the link, "No SAO (Single action only) versions are approved."
  7. I agree, it's a great gun. I hope this is the first of many Legion SAO's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So what type of guns and mfg do you see. I would like to hear that also... and which manufacturer/builder has absolutely no detractors or criticism or flaws. Just curious.
  9. I just ran the P226 Legion SAO in an outlaw USPSA match, and it ran perfectly. It certainly won't replace my SVI for USPSA Limited, but it looks like a good bet for IDPA ESP.
  10. That 226 SAO is very tempting. How do you like yours. I just picked it up last week, so only have a few hundred rounds down it. I like it. The trigger is 1911-like in its crisp sense and reset. Not quite as light and fast, and with more take-up, but perhaps more suited for a stressful environment. The fit is perfect for my hands, and the sights are dead on with 147 gr. loads. I'm planning on trying it in next week's local IDPA match, in ESP, to further test it. I might see if I can run the match with this and then with my 9mm 1911, for a thorough comparison.
  11. I am not much of a Sig guy, but the Legions are tempting me away from my 1911s and 2011s. The trigger, oh, the trigger. I have side by side a Legion P226 and a P226 with the FULL Grayguns treatment. The DA pull is about the same, but the SA and the reset are noticeably better than the Grayguns P226. I also have a stock P227 to remind me why I don't like stock triggers. The sights are nice, the first non-adjustable sights that I can stand. They are regulated for a center hold, instead of my preferred six o'clock hold. The grip ergonomics are just right for me. The undercut is just enough, the beavertail just enough. It just fits "right". I ended up getting two Legions, one the P226 and the other the P226 SAO, both in 9mm.
  12. Whoever told you that is probably worried that you might beat them. The tri-glide triggers are great. I am a great supporter of SVI, and have five of them - with one more on the way as soon as I connect with my enabler, Casey. I also like Johnny Lim's work. He does push the envelope, styling-wise, and he will meet you anywhere, anytime to fix whatever's wrong. I have owned a couple of his, but no longer do.
  13. It's a sport and, like most sports, has a degree of physical conditioning required. As I get older, it gets harder, and I will never win a stage that has a prone position in it. I can't run as fast, either. But I would not want the sport to compromise to meet my limitations. I would rather be challenged to break through my limitations.
  14. The triggers on the P226 Legions are pretty darned good, and the triggers on any P226 from Grayguns are, too. The reset is about the same as my 1911, not as good as the SVIs. The high bore axis is not really a hindrance to me, as the gun comes right back to the target for the next shot. But, the first DA shot is perceived by many as a problem. The 320, like the Glock and the XDm, is nice and consistent, has a good price point, and fits the hand nicely. I don't have one, but then I don't shoot Production.
  15. I've been wearing vests far longer than IDPA has been around, mostly for lugging around stuff in pockets when it's too hot for my jacket. I carry concealed with a vest whenever I'm not wearing a suit jacket. I don't wear the suit jacket for IDPA because I can't afford to screw it up. So I wear one of my many vests or I wear a barn jacket that I use for outdoor chores.
  16. I swapped out my gun at Nationals a couple of years ago after my extractor broke. No issue with the RM, other than I had to re-chrono. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  17. I agree with the above. The RO uttered the magic words, and the shooter responded. Not a righteous DQ.
  18. A while back I was a regular at a range that had both an active competitive program and an active LEO training program. Since I shot with both groups, I decided to bridge the gap by designing and building 3gun stages for the LEOs. They enjoyed the variety, and some of them came back for competitions. The training officers were thrilled... Anything for more trigger time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  19. It might be faster, if one had trained enough with it. I ran across a gunsmith at a match a while ago that had developed a right hand release for a 1911, and made a very convincing case. Convincing enough that I tried it. I could not, however, undo three decades of muscle memory, so it never worked for me. I tried it again with an H&K USP, and, with that platform, it was quicker for me. Mostly because my thumb could never find the left side release (or I would push instead of flick).
  20. Cover isn't an issue for me, as I just build it into my walkthrough. Same with target priority. Airgunning isn't an issue, as I do my walkthrough with my hands in my pockets (though I still make the sounds, just to mess with the SO). Mag retention is usually worth 1-2 procedurals per match, though, and occasionally getting called on round dumping because I'm trying to avoid the mag retention penalty.
  21. Very nice. Let us know if you end up knocking down the grip bumps. I've wondered about that grip, but always end up going with skateboard tape.
