  1. “But if thought corrupts language, language can also corrupt thought.” Orwell
  2. When you find one, let us know. I can only find a "universal", that doesn't allow the red dot.
  3. Nice video, thank you. I'm sure I learned a couple of things - now to the range to see if I can make them happen!
  4. The ten year old and I saw it - loved it. Just the right balance of laughs and improbable action.
  5. How about handguns at 200+ yards... maybe open sight T/C's, no rests allowed... Should have a "Rifleman" episode... leverguns to clear a western town of bad guys, shooting from the hips only... Or cannon fire, now that's a team event...
  6. Brad, we can arrange for you to shoot a Beretta at Area 1, if you'd like. I know Brad, and he's not at all a jerk. Well, except for the Glock fanboy stuff.
  7. Elite Ammunition has some of the equipment on their site, including a shellplate for the 550.
  8. Application in, though I'm still trying to figure out the manual action rules.
  9. Don't forget Chabot! They have two USPSA matches and quite a few other disciplines represented every month. Then there's Diablo Action Pistol out in Concord, though they are members-only.
  10. Sig Sauer still imports them, under their own "tactical" label. I, too, like Blasers in the $3k range (I use .308, .264 WinMag or .300 WinMag, depending on the target), though I also would (and do) gleefully go out with a GA Precision rifle (mine's a .260). But you really don't NEED a $3k rifle to do the job. I have a buddy with a Ruger .300 WinMag (rebarrelled and with a new trigger) that he hunts with -- and he usually does better than I do. My son uses a Mauser surplus 6.5x55 action that I had built into a hunter by a local gunsmith, and it does the job for about $1500.
  11. For Montana, isn't 24 miles "next door"? Oh, and another vote for GAS and the range. Nice guys, the times I've been there.
  12. I like April - less competition with the kids' stuff. But then, I did so badly at this latest DT, I don't think I get a vote.
  13. I really like this drill. Sounds like it could be modified to also slow myself down on the plate racks, if I can figure out how to program the timer appropriately.
  14. I have a Springfield 9mm which is just as accurate as my Kimber Gold Match .45 -- which is to say reliably accurate. I used to have a Colt 9mm that had been accurized by Clark Custom, and it was phenomenal with handloads. Sample size of two, YMMV.
  15. Are small pistol and small rifle primers interchangeable for .40S&W? Is there likely to be a velocity or std dev change moving from one to the other?
  16. It was a great match, great staff, great stages. The weather certainly taught me a thing or two, as did watching the others shoot. I learned a great deal, and can't wait to work on all the tips, pointers and lessons.
  17. In IDPA, yes, usually. Always the same holster I use in daily carry, but sometimes I run IDPA with another of my 1911s. I tell myself that it's just because I can, but really it's because I score better with a full-sized 1911 than with an aluminum or scandium micro 1911.
  18. Unfortunately I have no wallspace to bolt to. But my workbench is actually a commercial laboratory bench, about 1500 pounds, a rigid steel frame, and a synthetic vibration-damping top.
  19. If I bring a doctor's note, saying that I suffer from test anxiety, can I skip the chrono station?
  20. Thanks, everyone. It looks to be a) focus on absolutely consistent pressure on the handle stroke, sticking the indicator rod in the primer to tube to "weight" the drop into the magazine, and c) adjusting the primer ram out just a tad. Down to 1 per hundred, all inverted primers. I think I'm still getting some to flip over on the drop.
  21. I'm finding about a 5% failure rate on loading .40 S&W on a Dillon 650, characterized by inverted primers, primers not seating at all and primers not seated deeply enough (the most common failure). Is that rate "normal"? Is there a way of improving the primers not seating deeply enough (stroking harder just indents the primers)?
