  1. I'm not sure I have the right three. But when does it start?
  2. I am fortunate to live in a region with lots of shooting events: USPSA, IDPA, long range rifle. For example, any weekend of the month, usually, I can choose from five different USPSA clubs with seven or eight matches per month scheduled. But NONE are scheduled on the fifth Saturday or Sunday of the month! I suppose I could practice, or clean my guns again, or even do the odd jobs around the house that my wife has been mentioning... but I hate the prospect of no shooting competition.
  3. +1 on Pale Rider. Must see Clint Eastwood. The Sacketts, with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott. Tombstone, with Kurt Russell. The Quick and The Dead, with Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe - if only to find one with a female heroine.
  4. I use SS in a tumbler for my rifle brass. I run it through a decapping die, toss it in, and let it run. Then I use a dehydrator to dry it overnight. Works like a charm, clean primer pockets, clean brass inside and out. I love it. I don't use it for pistol brass, yet.
  5. Have I missed a posting or mailing? When is the start time, details, etc.? All I have is a confirmation email.
  6. If my postal carrier is feeling spry, he has no problem delivering the MG package. If not, or if I ordered more than one box, he puts the slip in my box and doesn't even try. It's not a big deal to me... the post office is handy enough. One time I suggested he just leave it on the curb next to the mailbox, if that's easier. He said wistfully that he wasn't allowed to do that. Either in the mailbox (which is small) or on my porch - nothing else.
  7. 650 for high volume pistol (set up for .40 and 9mm) RCBS RC for decapping and for precision/hunting pistol (10mm) Forster for rifle (.308, .260, .264WM, .300WM) I really would like another 650, though, for .45. I'm not sure where to put it, though.
  8. Just got my shell sorter in the mail. Thanks, Tim! Sorry you had to mail it.
  9. That's why I started stage 4 with my holster fully locked. I would have duct-taped it on, too, if I had had any. I was sure that the gun would fall out as I swayed on that rickety stool... Stage 18 didn't bother me, except that, on the walkthrough, I couldn't figure out how the RO would follow me and not end up ahead of me. He figured it out, of course.
  10. I learned that I need to actually wait for that front sight to settle into the rear sight before I pull the trigger. I learned that the stages I thought I shot the slowest were really the ones I shot the best. My new "are you ready?" mantra: Slow is fast... wait for the front sight. Slow is fast... wait for the front sight. Slow is fast... wait for the front sight. Slow is fast... wait for the front sight. Slow is fast... wait for the front sight. Slow is fast... wait for the front sight.
  11. Works fine. Barrel and bushing, that's it.
  12. So, he was not attempting to engage a target, when it first fired? I am only guessing but I believe he meant slide release and not mag release. It's tough to go full auto with no mag in the gun. Correct. Slide release. Sorry. Correction made.
  13. I also was there, and witnessed the event. The gun went off after he hit the slide release, the shots were not closer than 10 feet, and he was not moving to a new position (he actually looked like he was re-engaging the same target array). By the way, most of that club (it seemed) was at a RO Level 1 class last weekend, and there were several spirited discussions of the incident. Most seemed to think that the shooter was owed an apology and not a DQ, but it was not unanimous.
  14. Now I'm really confused. Are we supposed to use the 2010 Rulebook now or not?
  15. Also, I have a P16-40 I converted to 10mm for hunting, and I run 10mm loads at 1.26", so mag length is absolutely not an issue.
  16. I run 1.125-1.130 in mine. And the gun runs fine.
  17. 40th for Limited, and it just cleared - Vegas, here I come!.
  18. Are thought and language different? Both are unfinished business. be I'm not sure if they are unfinished, but instead imperfect. Language is an imperfect reflection of a thought, but a thought is an imperfect reflection of the Whole.
  19. Where did you get the bobtail mainspring housing? I have the same pistol for carry and really love it but a bobtail mainspring housing would make it near perfect. It's an Ed Brown Bobtail. You'll need the cutting jig, or need to borrow one, but it is quite the improvement when done right.
  20. I actually like the cut-and-paste method - that way you actually read the changes as you're gluing them in.
  21. I have three 1911s that I carry as circumstances warrant. 1. If I need maximum concealment and minimum weight (i.e. wearing a suit in the city on business), I carry a Springfield Armory EMP. 2. For most uses, I carry an S&W 1911 scandium frame commander, with a bobtail mainspring. It's light, accurate, and carries a decent payload of .45acp. 3. When I can wear a proper belt and can handle the weight, and when I'm out of doors, I carry a Kimber 10mm. Somehow the 10mm makes me feel warm and fuzzy, regardless of the threat potential, but the 10mm really needs a hefty frame. All are carried in paddles or removable OTB leather rigs, though I also use a shoulder holster every now and then when driving a lot.
  22. Just finished the course of fire. It is quite excellent. Good, challenging stages, mixture of pure skills and strategy stages. All very well designed and very well run. I took the USSA/Seeklander course, and it was definitely a plus. Learned a lot, and applied some during the competition. All great fun, and kudos to the whole staff for a fine production.
