  1. If your talking about the dull brushed Finnish a very fine wire wheel .005" wire avaliable from brownells at about 1700 rpm with a little wd40 dose a good job of matching but marks have to be polished out to about 400 grit first. Matt Finnish is bead blasted then same wheel lightly Blends it nicely.
  2. Adds about 10 seconds to registration time.
  3. Absolutely the best thing I've ever seen posted on this forum. I'm sure a lot of the humorless folks won't get it but, bravo !
  4. On a .375 hole spacing mount I belive a .0065" drop per hole gets you 1 degree. If you do get a full size mill and have someplace to put it and the ability to put it there(2000 lbs+) you will find its one of the most useful things a man can have access to.

    USPSA

From what I see over the last 30 + years active USPSA is doing better than ever out here in the weeds. In my section only club to fold and go outlaw was because match director burn out, he gave them 2 years to replace him. Someone did step up but dysfunctional board decided to go back to outlaw. Went from 80+ shooter sellouts every month to haven't heard them mentioned in 2 years. Of the 30 to 100 people I interact with at matches every weekend I can only think of one with the time to chase dragons ont the net that ever mentions the board amongst the other conspiracy theories.
  6. Best advice: Join the closest club that shoots uspsa. Become active in matches ,help setup, talk to match director about organizing practice sessions for club members that help. This what we do .get to practice swingers, Drop turners, max traps,Texas stars, ect. A great way to get extra help and practice also drink a few beers afterwards.
  7. How many times have you thought someone skipped a target only to find hits on it? I know over the 30 + years as an ro I have had it happen , usually at a local match where you only see 8-10 shooters shoot a stage.
  8. .005" wire carding wheel from brownells with a bit of oil
  9. I normally take material off that step on the frame usually. 002".003". Has worked well on the 20 or so that I've done. But I do have a full size mill. I have found a quality digital caliper is sufficient.
  10. So your saying always call 2 Mike's as a ftsa? Don't think that's how it works or is a close always a 180 dq? My point is it's a penalty that could go away
  11. Have you ever not called on a shooter that you were 90 % sure? Was that fair to the shooter where you were paying slightly more attention to?
  12. At a local this Sunday ro'd and had some 2. 1 memory stage with a lot going on was 90 percent sure it was not engaged ,didn't call it. Other stage wide open array shooter didn't shoot low target, called it. Kinda unfair.
  13. I should have said I know it's not applied equally. One of the rules where it's sometimes a judgment call by the ro. Don't think 2 misses is ever called wrong.
  14. It is kind of a stupid penalty any way. Wouldn't be terrible if it went away. Not like internationally taking 2 misses is a winning strategy and I'm sure it's not equally applied across all matches and I've seldom seen an ro admit they were guessing. We've made a lot of rules changes over the last few years this one could go.
  15. As a match director it's often tough to balance out match so you don't have a full squad waiting at a large feild courses that follows a much shorter course. Sometimes I'll do 2 8 -12 rd courses on one pit, that normally balances out with a 32 rd on next pit. The 18 rd medium ones can be a problem by end of the day.
  16. Slides are flat topped and some slots milled thru sides and top. Nothing radical. Seems like the new breed of shooters want to pay for crazy cots and cnc mill sculpting but I've seen a lot of 7-8 thousand dollar guns that look fancy as hell but don't work from the get go. I also don't fit my guns nearly as tight as those guns. Will gladly take 3-4 inch groups at 50 yards in a gun that's dead reliable over 1 inch out of a finicky gun that needs to be clean to run.
  17. Been running 38 super major for 30 years. At least 10 at 175 power factor. Have 3 guns that are all still running. Have replaced slides on 2 of them and at least 2 barrels each but they have well over 100,000 rounds each . Very few problems. 9mm major seems to be hard on slides. And I'm not a maintenance nut. Clean and inspect twice a year and change recoil spring. Mag springs every 2 years .
  18. A 1911 is far easier to completely disassemble and reassemble than a glockenspiel and far far easier than a cz.. in a standard 1911 most malfunctions are extractor related the rest are ammo. 2011 add magazines to the mix. 2011 mags never needed tuning 25 years ago now they do. Not sure what happened.
  19. Target stands and poppers should always be staked in position. As far as angle of popper off of straight up and down this will be taken care of by calibration challenges and adjustments. If lean left and right is what you mean if staked shouldn't move but if I did enough to show a popper hidden behind it it could be argued to throw out stage.
  20. Well if the current crop of ros weren't working 3 or 4 nationals it might work. 5 days of shooting?? Not sure but did back to back a few times.
  21. Bend was a great nationals place. Where I learned how Damm cold it can get in the desert
  22. All large matches had standards. Often at 50 yards with hard cover.
  23. Was unaware that the modern way to shoot iron sights was not to look at them. I guess ltd is dead.
