  1. I run Factoryville neat Tunkhannock 2nd Sunday and also is hallstead /great bend 3rd Sunday and Wilkes Barre first sunday if your looking for more matches
  2. I miss the old days before the intra-nets when the politicians and heads of organizations quietly played their cloak and dagger duchebaggery quietly in the background while the peons enjoyed ourselves oblivious to it all.
  3. 35 yrds deep× 20 wide with 2 50 yrds deep works well for us.
  4. First year I got Into uspsa 1991 I think shot a match called steel and paper challenge at Topton PA. Was a time plus match shot on steel and NRA D2 tergets. Feild courses and a few steel challenge stages. Was new to shooting so I didn't really know what was going on. Jerry was there as was Doug Koenig and a few other big names. Jerry is shooting a colt 1911 with a Tasco dot. I remember hearing the people saying " what dose he think he's doing, you can't shoot a dot fast". Boy were they wrong. He won by an embarrassing margin. Was interesting to see the dots start to show up over the next year.
  5. Have seen quite a few single stack 1911 with iron sights and frame holes. A lot of people I'm sure just have them sitting in safes. As far as marlins and Winchester 3030s suddenly collectable, who knew? Some people still don't know how cool it is to be a fantasy "operator" and still appreciate walnut and blued steel.

    Cracked Frame

Had a Caspian hi cap that I shot for 10 years that cracked at dust cover that I had welded. Lasted several years and 10s of thousands of rounds. Scraped it out after second slide cracked and was tired of dealing with accu rails and having new slide machined. This game is hard on equipment. Investment cast steel welds just like bar stock.
  7. Have carried backup gun for years. Only time I used it was to take parts off to fix a squad mates gun. Been lucky I guess.

    Cracked Frame

Any "good" tig welder could fix this. Laser welding too but not something your going to find outside of serious manufacturing. If you shot my matches and were someone that was helpful and I liked I'd fix it for free.

    Cracked Frame

A talented tig welder and an average machinist could fix that
  10. If capable build what you want. Build it twice the size you think.
  11. If you can clearly see( because you know how to score a target) the ro is wrong go up the chain to cro then range master. If you lose so be it take the miss and move on like a gentleman. As far as perfect doubles go they happen more than you think. If you have ro'd much you have seen the second bullet go thru the same hole and when you look at the target couldn't prove it. Had it happen yesterday at a match when I was ro'ing. If you haven't seen this happen you either haven't ro'd much or aren't very good at it.
  12. No I just know how to score a target and at a major match I expect the R.Os. to know to. I've been a match director and an R.O. for over 30 years and have worked many area and section matches. Most shooters don't seem to know proper way to score a target and get screwed by it or on occasion get I gift.
  13. That's the way it should be
  14. There in lies a big problem. A large number of R.Os at major matches never look at a close call but always score it against the shooter as if that's thir job. Has anyone ever seen a close call be in the shooters favor without being asked for an overlay?? Seems I have to challenge a call at least once at every major match I shoot and don't remember the last time I was wrong. Shooters need to know how to score targets and would be greatly helped by becoming R.Os themselves.
  15. I shoot in area 8 sometimes area 7. Haven't seen prizes other than by random drawing in 10 years unless you want a plaque. I'm not against the clarification system but wouldn't put many resources into it.
  16. How about we do away with classification all together. He who won wins, he who came in second comes in second and so on.
  17. Any true gunsmith could take a section of rail blank and drill and counter bore for screws spaced for this.
  18. Section slots are awarded by match directors. Best way to have access to slots is to be a worker bee for your local matches.
  19. Also gun recoils away from hand when fired one handed. Right handed wants to go to the left so right hand only shoot right to left as gun wants to move to next target.
  20. A truly great stage is made when set up on the ground. Other that a classifier that is a simple stage with precise measurements the movement of 1 or 2 targets a foot or so can be the difference between a great stage and a dog.
  21. Biggest problem is I don't remember the last major i've shot and didn't at least have to get at least one call overturned by asking for an overlay.
  22. Once saw ro at nationals call Alfa mike after looking at edge hit and walking away. I called shooter over and convinced him to challenge it. Ro actually said " I was wondering if anyone would ask for an overlay on that" after changing call to a hit. At the nationals..!!
  23. I'd rather see ro,s that actually pull an overlay out without being asked. Have saved newer shooters many misses and points over the years when lazy ro's call an edge hit a miss that's clearly a hit if you actually look at it. The overlay should come out on any close call without being asked.
  24. I wouldn't.its easy to take apart and put back together.take a few pics for reference. Take apart slowly and pay attention to small springs and plungers.
